Being in insurance, security is the utmost of importance. We have gotten our fair share of virus' way back and management finally decided it was time to get a system in place to prevent not only viruses but other hacks. Money was the main factor why we never did anything proactively. We took our chances and it came back to…

We are just getting into VoIP and we let Cisco handle most of the QoS for us. We just downloaded an eval of the VNQM to monitor the phones we just installed. So far we are really impressed.
-
We keep our logs as long as possible. When we think we have overkilled the keeping of them only then do we purge the logs. You just never know when you may need to look back at something.
-
Oh yeah. We have had exactly what was described above. Our storage guy has a short fuse and when programmers call the help desk saying storage it full because they cant save items or they complain the network is slow and he sees it has nothing to do with storage he lights a fuse under his manager about these accusations.…

Finally got the System Q1 but this Security Q1 is a killer. If all the other answers were from these docs then why is this one so hard to find?
-
Todays question what one asked on the CCNA Voice exam I took a few weeks ago. Luckily I remembered.
-
I will second that....

I'm good. Thanks

The word for my day and everyday is PROACTIVE....I think I here that word at least once a day around here. Solarwinds has helped a bunch in resolving or at least tracking an issue on our network. We get calls all the time about slowness and as much as we try to be proactive sometimes we just cant beat the users to the…

Ours is done by severity. Low-High. When it comes to a pc, server, printer or software issue our internal IT guys are right on it. However in the event one of our sites goes down our vendor who provides the fix could care less about their SLA. They know we are tied to them because of certain locations. I fail to mention…

The reset password is being talked about by upper-management. 80% of the help-desk calls come from this issue so having the user be able to reset their own password who save a lot of phone calls and logging tickets.

I resolved it on my own. I had to create a custom property for every node in the STATE and also for the nodes the hyperlinks went too then I create an account limitation for just that custom property.

I am not familiar with SAM.

Yeah I just upgraded this morning. It shows version 9.0 SP2 on the About NPM page. Like I said the chart is the only thing not working that is why I just wanted to see if maybe I had left off a step. I just tried it again to make sure I was following the directions correctly and yet I still get that same Unrecognized chart…

I just wanted to say that after upgrading from version 9.0 to 9.1 SP1 I officially got the Syslog Messages Rate chart to work and everything else is working fine as well. This is a great addition to have.
-
I have just install the advanced syslog parser for the first time using NPM 9.0 SP2 and everything works except the syslog message rate chart. I am getting the error everyone was getting earlier that has the "System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Unrecognized chart name "SyslogMsgsRate"" I downloaded the latest zip file from…

Found it. Thanks for the infomation.

I had the same issue yesterday morning until the workaround fixed it, but just to update this morning I came in and was able to login and everything is working fine so hopefully you will have the same good luck.
-
Haley, Was this issue to allow us to be able to view configs from Cirrus through the Orion webpage ever accomplished? Thanks.

Well upon further review after I restarted the NetPerfMon service the footer now says 9.0 SP1 and as of now I dont see any issues but will further investigate to see if any problems occur. Thanks.
-
Well like some said it is a nice feature but not essential. I still cannot get it to work for some reason. At least everything else look good. Thanks to all.
-
Ok I clicked finished and restarted the update again and now I get the following: Installing SolarWinds Orion Network Performance Monitor 9.0 SP1 Stopping Services Stopping Service NetPerfMonService Service is stopped Stopping Service OrionModuleEngine Service is stopped Stopping Service SolarwindsSyslogService Service is…

Yeah Solarwinds support was clueless with my case as well. They checked everything on my pc but could not figure out why it was doing this and we just finally gave up.
-
FYI...Just in case anyone else has this problem but after I upgraded to NCM 5.0 and then integrated it to NPM I lost all my SSH info from above so I had to redo the Integrationsicons.ascx file.
-
I already had Orion version 9.0 and I thought it was with the SP1 but after checking the footer it only show 9.0 so I just ran the Orion 9.0 -SP1 update.exe and during the configuration screen a message popped up saying "Failure to Update ASP.NET" and now the wizard has stopped. I am not sure if I need to click the Back or…

This is a known issue. Here is the work around. Open the Database Manager (Click Start -> Programs -> Solarwinds Orion Network Configuration Manager -> SQL Database Manager). If your SQL server is not listed, click Add Server button. Once server is added, drill down to this server to show the list of databases. Drill…

OK I finally figured it out for anyone interested. I hope I did not leave anything out since I just stumbled upon this. 1. Import the registry setting for SecureCRT SSH2 from their website into the registry on the pc using SecureCRT. Here is the registry setting: [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ssh2\shell\open\command] @="\"C:\\Program…

May Orion v9 sp1 use it?Yes, but without a chart. Chart still does not work in V9.0 SP2 :( John, Did you ever get this chart to work in NPM V9.0 SP2? Thanks.

Will do. Adding the extra space on the VM helped. I had the retention set at 30 days. With the v4.1 installed the Current size was 23GB (31 days of data) and Projected size said "Retentions period is full see Current size". I changed my retention period to 35 days and now the projected size is 26GB so I think all is…

Well I started trying the solution and after reading further on the very first post I noticed he was using MindTerm. We use SecureCRT so now I am at a stand still. I have tried to figure out what he did using MindTerm but cannot seem to recreate it using SecureCRT. Does anyone have an SSH shortcut under node details that…
