Our biggest fear is when we installed a portable a/c for our server room, which also houses our networking equipment. Maintenance was suppose to run a line underneath the raised floor for the water to run out. Under that floor are the power cables to most of those servers. One day an alarm went off on the a/c and water was…

NPM, NTA, NCM Oh My Each One So Wonderful How Would I Survive

I took the survey but it didn't ask for a username. How will you know who gets points?

Finally got the correct answer. My brain is sore now.

I see what you mean but the computers have not even gotten the downloads yet. We have over 800 computers scattered throughout the whole state. When someone turns if off and the next morning powers it on then they start getting the downloads for the updates which in turn causes that office to run slow because of the traffic…

Constant webinars, reading, online classes even so far as to travel out of town to a class (something we don't do very often). In the IT business it will always change. You can never relax and say "Ahh...I have learned it all."

Gotcha. I will look into your ideas. Thanks for the input.

I entered mine in lowercase and have had no issues.

Mobile monitoring has come up a time or two when both of us solarwinds guys are traveling but its not something we are just gunning for. About the best mobile monitoring I have used is to VPN on my ipad and pull our solarwinds NOC.

We currently do not send any logs to the cloud for that very reason.......security. We keep all in-house on several servers.

1. SQL 2. Yes one guy does this however I backup our Cirrus and Orion db. 3. Our SQL guy does all that 4. Once again our SQL guy does that.

We use WSUS right now. It can be an issue for network performance however when users take their laptops home or power off the machine. Then come morning all the updates kill our network because of the computers that didn't get it the night before so we have to turn of WSUS and wait until the next night to try again for…

NTA and NPM have been a big help in determining why a slow down occurs. We used to always get calls from an office saying they were slow and we never knew exactly why but with NTA we are able to help 90% of the time. There are times when NTA cant define an ip address but we still know what user is causing the traffic. This…
