Or for those unmotivated to do any of the above, or anything for that matter, how about? NOPOps?

I'm lucky in that I sit about 1700 miles from our main Datacenter where most of the IT staff is, not many drop-bys!!

Ok, let's take your comments one by one. I think it might have changed, but when I was assigning dates to items, they were both in "Custom" or "Suggested" dates assigned AND still in either "Suggested Dates Found" or "No Suggestions". I think that behavior has changed though... But, in response to your "group according to…

I'm supposed to be learning "FortiManager" for Fortinet products right now, since they really do an awful job with even potentially interfacing well with other NMS systems like Solarwinds. But, to be honest from what I've seen of it, it's horrid, and I'm more likely to get a new job than be proficient enough to show you…

Yea, not a fan of the answers to question 9, although I did get it correct. SNMP is a rather vague answer and could refer to SNMP polling, SNMP traps, or SNMP informs. Not to mention traps could refer to quite a few different things too, not just SNMP traps.

Hmm... I'm all for standardizing things, getting a more consistent transport mechanism and such, but I think many of the current approaches are forgetting something critical. The diversity we have in technology and vendors promotes a diversity in the hardware and such too. For stock traders and others concerned with…

I just had the problem but reopened the hint page in an incognito window and got in fine...

One thing that you have to remember is that rules can go both ways both depending on the rules and how they are implemented. Personally, I'm not against having my ISP create a "shortcut" to services I use, like Netflix and such, in order to speed up my access to said service - something called "peering". But some say that…

I think you are beginning your argument with a false premise. When I first started out it was configuring Livingston Portmaster and other equipment that was not cisco brand, pretty bad that I can't even remember the name of some of the brands I worked with. Most of those had menu based systems, or sometimes a GUI of sorts…

More in-depth discussion here Multi-VRF support, Nexus 7K, and arguing with TAC! :-)

Yea, this one was much tougher to find than the rest. Took me a bit of time to find it... I'll give a hint for those fans of Big Bang Theory, remember the episode where Howard and Raj are trying to figure out why Sheldon disappears every day into a basement room and when they finally get in the room all they find is a…

Whatever happened to just using "password" as your password?! I miss those days... :-P
-
I'm not totally sure I want more attention drawn to us! I like sitting in the background unseen quite often... :-)

Hmm.. I haven't seen it reported, which doesn't mean it hasn't been, but noticed today that going to the "SHARED ON THWACK" in "Manage Policy Reports" in the compliance portion of NCM yields nothing. Guessing it has to do with the migration? Wanted to get sure it gets added to the "todo" list if it hasn't been already!

If that worked it would be an acceptable workaround, however it doesn't help. The problem I'm talking about is that these alerts are happening for ports that are administratively shutdown AND not monitored. If either of those conditions stopped the alert from firing, I'd be perfectly happy. However, the solarwinds tech…

But it's only at 998! :-P

I have a similar request already in. Not sure if any of you were ever around to see Cisco's "User Tracking Utility", a small little thing you installed to allow you to search the similar database in Ciscoworks. Check it out and vote on it too if you agree!!
-
I'm not seeing how this differs from the "unmanaged" state that you can put a node in? If you're not aware of the "unmanage" option, go to any node and under "Management" there is an "unmanage" option. You can also get there from "Settings/Manage Nodes".
-
Agreed. But you also need to make sure that the complete picture your making doesn't have too much garbage obstructing the view. Getting a beefy logging server and then logging absolutely everything isn't the solution necessarily. Be intelligent about what your logging. Set your logging levels appropriately, weed out…

Oh, that reminds me of the Balloon Fiesta a few years ago. It was a great week, beautiful mornings mostly, lots of flights and balloons everywhere, and TONS of people walking around holding up iPad's to take pictures. Blocking off most of their view with this big huge thing that only took what I would consider to be ok…

Huh, looks ok now, without even doing that. Wonder what was up? Guess I should have ordered those odd foam hats while I could have!! :-)
-
Congrats guys! But you forgot to put my name on the list!! :-) Was just wondering when those would get awarded!!

You didn't read the rules OR this discussion thoroughly!! All fill-in-the-blank questions you can answer multiple times, but only the first one counts... Questions are a mixture of multiple choice and fill-in-the-blank. * Multiple choice - Only your first attempt counts. Double check your answers! * Fill-in-the-blank - If…

So that's why the GNS3 push this month! Good match, glad to see SW as their corporate sponsor!! https://gns3.com/news/article/biggest-post-yet

Unfortunately we don't have NCM (yet) at my new job, so I can't check!
-
Sounds more like a question than a poll? To answer the question side of it I would have to say that I would doubt Solarwinds will offer support for HTTP2 separate from IIS offering it. Since they tend to use Microsoft's web server for everything, I doubt they're developing a new web server, on their own, with HTTP2 support…

Shoes? Aw damn, did they change the prize? And here I thought it was an Xbone bundle?! :-P
-
Yea, that is an odd thing to key in on I would think... Now you just have to build into the moderation filter to catch everyone who asks when their points are going to be added to their profile after a monthly mission!! :-)

I'm envisioning a poster imitating one of the "Attack of the 50 ft woman" poster(s) with all sorts of unusually large network-attached devices attacking little people... I've always been a bit paranoid about these boxes, no good way to secure them. Would be nice to have an industry standard that they could comply to, but…
