Also, nothing is 100% secure. I was in my previous role for over 10 years when they decided to outsource it. I ended up in a better situation as a result, but being prepared and having a plan certainly helps. Disaster recovery/business continuity plans are not just for corporations.

I was thinking not only BYOD, but also corporate-owned laptops and such.
-
Isn't that a form of user experience? The user's experience with the survey?
-
It uses secret agents.

NCM has been invaluable for us, and our newly-deployed LEM installation is becoming so. Just this past Friday we had a vendor try to blame us for a network connectivity issue with their equipment (of course, they just replaced a defective unit with a new one and the new one wasn't working, but the issue couldn't POSSIBLY…

I think the two go hand in hand. Actionable metrics are important for obvious reasons. Measuring the business impact helps you understand which metrics are worth taking action in, and which are a waste of time.

Is there a way to check how many points we got? When we're active on other areas of the site at the same time, it's often hard to hell how many points came from the contest.
-
I think it works, but some better visibility for it would be helpful. It looks like some of us veterans didn't know it was there!

Thomas Edison may have put this best. "Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work."
-
This is awesome. I love it and may have to steal it as well.

In some cases, a lack of standardization on legacy equipment can be an obstacle. It's relatively easy to get standards put in place and applied prospectively to new equipment. Getting buy-in to make changes to existing configurations that are working just fine is a much greater challenge. Management and staff often do not…
-
That's good policy, but real-time change detection is helpful for proving that unauthorized changes are not being made without following the proper procedure, and knowing who made a change if a violation occurs. It's an extra level of assurance for yourselves and your regulators.

I find the Compliance Reporting feature within NCM to be tremendously useful in determining whether routers are configured consistently with company standards. Comparing configurations to baselines can be useful as well, but in the environment I came from, authorized changes happened too often for that to be as useful as I…

If you win, though, at least you'll have access to some excellent training to help with finding a new job!
-
I second this. DanielleH, is this something that could be considered?

They were originally going to call it Network Security Analyzer, but were afraid that the acronym might tip people off to the type of "agents" the product uses.
-
Proving a backup (or weeks or months worth of them) exists is SO much easier when you have something like NCM...

Wow. I'm not a manager, but if I were, that would result in, at the very least, a closed-door meeting with the engineer to discuss why that was unacceptable. When an alert is received, one of two things has happened: * The alert indicates a system problem, and that system needs attention. * The alert is "noise," in which…

Can you clarify what exactly you mean? I monitor our F5 and its individual nodes just fine... what are you trying to accomplish that you can't currently?
-
Same here.

Excellent! I'm looking forward to reading it.

Awesome. You are indeed a ninja. Thanks again.

Generally speaking we are monitoring, but not alerting on, database CPU cycles. That way we have the data available if our DBAs need it.
-
That was my point; that those types of areas must be measured by metrics other than customer satisfaction survey feedback. For those types of areas, I would look at how performance is measured in areas like internal audit and legal for guidance.
-
Agreed. I'm convinced that, in many cases, the "fairness" argument is simply an excuse to avoid having to address the additional complexities that telecommuting might create.
-
This is tremendously helpful. Thank you.

This is a thing: Pennsylvania Dutch Hot Bacon Dressing Recipe - Food.com It's of Pennsylvania Dutch origin, and good for topping your bacon salad.

Glad to hear you were successful in getting buy-in on this. The multiple copies issue can be mitigated somewhat by keeping the spreadsheet on a shared resource like Sharepoint, but regardless, spreadsheets are a nightmare for this purpose.
