I found the answer; The Department field was blank. Once I added a valid department to the Department field, alarms started to shows and alerts were sent. You're welcome LOL.
-
I tried making it only monitor the single device - issue did not change. I've been trying to make this work for 5 days now and the only common denominator is Agent vs. SNMP Agent does not work.
-
Orion 2026.1.1 Original Alarm : Created a new alarm as suggested: No change with newly created alarm. One thing I forgot to mention; While these drives I fill up as a test do shows as full under the device in question, they do NOT shows under active alarms which might be the reason for no alerts being sent.

ragetank, I have been dealing with this web session timeout issue since I originally created this post 4 months ago. I have been back and fourth with SW support trying everything they said, sending diagnostics, rerunning the Configuration Wizard many times - nothing worked. The last ditch suggestion was to build a new…

No additional web servers. One Orion server - everything running on that server; NPM, SAM and NCM.
-
I upgraded to the 2023.3 release. The web session timeout issue remains. I tried a few more things including letting the web session sit on a different dashboard. That made the timeout take about a half hour, but it still timed out.
-
I sent you the case number. If this is to be addressed in the next update, which is out soon if I remember correctly, then I can wait rather than all of us putting even more work into this issue.
-
I have tried AD (our primary), LDAP and even local. All yield the same results.
-
I am new to Orion, and I am not quite sure what you mean by this.
-
One last thing...I ran the Sysinternals TCPView on the server: I will get with my security folks to see if they have any clue on this. Thanks for your time.
-
I just tried the ping instruction you gave me and something interesting happened: From the server itself: ping scgipmap02pw.bcc.scgov.local Pinging SCGIPMAP02PW.bcc.scgov.local [::1] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from ::1: time<1ms Reply from ::1: time<1ms Reply from ::1: time<1ms Reply from ::1: time<1ms Ping statistics…

The device in first box, second row, is a server that I am monitoring for another group. They are receiving alerts, but I do not want to see this device in my NOC view.
-
I did that initially with no luck. I just did it again - same lack of luck. I deleted the cert and tried again... Clicked the generate button Once it was done Clicked yes Tried to access the server, on the server, https://name, https://127.0.0.1 - none worked. And since I am going screen shot mad:
-
UPDATE: I manually changed the WEBSITES table, line "SSLEnabled", to equal 0. I reran the config wizard and the site is now available - on port 80.
-
That's it then! I know what to do to get all of this going. Thanks for all of your help Byron!

When one of the servers in this group reboots, my team will get the "everything" alert, but also, a reboot alert will go to a specific team.
-
Thanks to your long explanation, I now understand fully - Thank You! I will do what you said and extend the time for the high CPU alert in APM. In fact, I might disable the CPU monitor in NPM and adjust the CPU monitor in APM/SAM for what we need. Thanks again for taking the time to explain this to me and everyone else…

Well, I just figured it out; the account I created to run the ipmonitor service did not have the proper rights. When I added that account to the local ADMIN group, the service started and I was able to access the server via HTTPS. Thanks for your time. - Dave

Actually, never mind - I just found it. After creating the new application monitor, click Edit Application Monitor. Right there on the first screen is the option to override the template and change Polling Frequency. YAY!
-
I just thought of something; perhaps this procedure does not work for an eval copy of Orion? What do you think?
-
That is it. All server reboot alerts go to my team. I have made a group in Orion for a subset of those servers for a specific group. They want to receive reboot alerts for their servers only. I have tried almost every combination of group/reboot that I know and none work.
-
I have the same question still. I installed the eval of Orion/NPM and the APM eval. We went with Orion/NPM, so I uninstalled the APM. I have no option to enter licensing information. The license manager only shows APM as an option to license even though I uninstalled it. Help. Thanks, Dave
-
I have entered a formal support ticket for this. I will post the fix when we have one.
-
But I do not want to see the server in the list. I want these monitors to alert, but I do not want to see the server on my screen.
-
Because of the alerts, I removed the the application template. I added it back this morning, but the issue has not yet shown itself. Picture this: - Date/Time 3/2/12 1:00 PM to 3/2/12 5:00 PM If you look at a chart for CPU utilization (in NPM), it will show between 10 and 20 %. If you look at a chart for " % Processor Time…

Thanks for the quick response. IIS is not installed on the server. Also, the Windows Firewall is disabled. netstat /abnp tcp Active Connections Proto Local Address Foreign Address State TCP 0.0.0.0:135 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING RpcSs [svchost.exe] TCP 0.0.0.0:443 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING [ipmservice.exe] TCP 0.0.0.0:445 0.0.0.0:0…

This is a great explanation how to monitor a process. It is going to help me right away with an issue we are having with an application. One question; Can the poll time be changed? It is five minutes now and I would like to make it one minute while we troubleshoot. Thanks again for the great instructions kpmarcin!
-
That did it! Modifying the IIS setting made it all work. Thanks a bunch Sean.
-
Thanks Sean, but the link you supplied shows the exact same procedure as the link in my original post. I have done all of this - three times, and the site does not work at all now.
