I moved my 9.5 sp1 NPM to a W2008 virtual on Hyper-V with no issues - allocate server per the recommendations in the admin guide and it was just like any other physical server. Havent run into issues with sharing the physical interface on the host server yet either.

Got it working and posted a template HERE

Thanks! Since I plan to upgrade to 10 anyway that will work perfectly!

There were no failed audits in the event logs related to the install in any of the sections. I'll check out process monitor and see if I can pinpoint anything - I had to back out to the old server for the time being.

Thanks Jawells! I'll give that a look - maybe it can be our solution.

Thanks! I'm still looking for a way to parse $message for what I need, also I'm not sure if the device shows as hostname would I need to convert to IP first or not. At least I know I can use regex to do it though once I figure out how to get info parsed properly...

No, nothing like that Custom property editor is in the Orion NPM "orion" menu at the top I think (or from advanced options you can launch it separately), you just create a custom property within it and then assign the custom property to each node. Nothing to do at the switch end. In custom property editor, I selected add…

I monitor remote sites like this with advanced alerts and have suppressions set up. I did mine with a custom property defined for each site. So site A devices had a custom property of CustomerName=siteA, andso on. I created advanced alerts for the devices and a separate alert for the edge device. The devices alert was…

We will be deploying CISCO ACE20-MOD-K9 shortly also. I'd be interested in updates here and I'll post if we can get this to be monitored as well. Thanks!

Well stopping and starting the Solarwinds Orion Information Service v1 and Solarwinds Information services fixes the issue. I noticed that MS wanted to send error reporting for an error with solarwinds business layer host service - apparently this had a problem after database maintenance ran at 215am as scheduled. here's…

Anyone find the template for this? I'm looking for templates for the whole WX/WXC series if possible. I need to be able to backup config - I can login, it just fails on config DL. I tried with the template for the EX4200 but I'm still missing something: template (using oid I found for WX series) <!--SolarWinds Network…

Still waiting on the download, but I'll be upgrading my v9.1.5 to 9.5 with the addition that my current is running on a physical server along with ciscoworks we are building out a virtual machine to run 9.5 on using w2008 To get the maps migrated, I plan to upgrade the current one first as I understand the mapping moves to…

I recall I used to do the first part, using custom properties, setting something like a unique name in a custom property and then assigning that name to the nodes I want them to see and restricting their view to nodes with that property name. I dont think you can do the second part - as stated above it's sort of…

quote:Originally posted by rguyler I'm looking for the download to upgrade my Orion 7.8.5 SLX to v8 but don't see it anywhere in the download section after I'm logged in. The homepage says the eval is available for download so it must be released I'm guessing. Anybody have a clue? Did we not make the 12/15/06 release date…

I got an email (finally this week) from support after a couple weeks of asking - they indicated it will be resolved in the next release :/

BakerD I have this exact same problem and an open ticket with SW support for this going on three + weeks now. The account with restricted view that has the problem for me is restricted to a list of specific nodes (about 90). I have a custom MIB poller looking at an OID on some cisco gear to show the state of a service…

So after repair installs and uninstall/reinstall with no effect, I called and got Calvin in support. He spoke with Matt and he said it sparked him to check permissions in 2008 server. It appears that the Network Service may need admin access to files in order for system manager and service manager to launch properly.…

Issue resolved: According to SW support, cirrus can (rarely) import a device config into the registry of all places. Typically this results in a garbage entry in the hive key and prevents cirrus from launching. From Support: Here is what you need to do. Go to Start > Run > Regedit, then HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software >…

We also have this error - same web error as someone else posted. Interestingly, I'd posted a link to my boss to a particular interface on a switch. Even with the main page (or any other page I had open) displaying the error text someone posted earlier, he was able to get to the switch interface page from the direct link…
