In my case with firewall status, I have only 2 possible variables so I could create an advanced alert triggering/resetting on those. My question is, would that advance alert be a: "Description = Primary Firewall is Active" ~ or ~ "Status = Primary Firewall is Active" ...config... ?

Any update on this? This remains an issue as https is the only port I allow through a perimeter firewall to view Orion data from untrusted networks. Please advise.

I think this also leads me to a feature request. In addition to the "List Resources" on a Node Details page, I'd like to see some known "SNMP MIBs" button, that will show me what OIDs Orion currently has stored in its database for a particular node - and let me select those and create Custom pollers from that screen. For…

We have two very old Big-IP boxes in our infrastructure we monitor with Orion and they report CPU/Memory just fine. Their OS revision is: BIG-IP 4.5PTF-0 BIG-IP Kernel 4 i386. They're very, very old.
-
When I add my VLAN interfaces to Orion from my Cat4500s, or any of my 2950, 3560 series, etc. - I'm not able to capture any data. Orion never reports any transmit/receive information. This is true of any VLAN interfaces on any of my hardware. I just assumed it wasn't possible.

And...I forgot to attach the screenshot!

Instead of an "All Nodes" resource, I added a "Down Interfaces" resource, same filter. THIS is that error: Bad Filter Specified: InterfaceName Like 'eth1%' AND Status = 2 Ambiguous column name 'Status'. You may need distinguish which property by adding "Nodes.", "Interfaces.", or "Volumes." at the beginning. For example :…

Furthermore, if I wanted to set the current date/time in a custom property, would my "Value to set when Alert is Triggered" simply be, "${date}"?
-
This is my fix - Resource Filter of: Caption Like '${Site_ID}*' AND '${Site_ID}' <>''
-
Well...I thought I had everything ironed out. I created a report to show me "All Nodes" with this filter: Caption Like '${Site_ID}*' The problem I have is that if I have ANY nodes don't have a Site_ID value in their custom properties, "All Nodes" are actually displayed for that device. Every monitored node is…

Alright, I think I need someone wiser than I in the ways of MIB/OID Custom Pollers to help figure this out. Attached are the combined results of the MIB Walks on my primary and secondary ASA hardware. (can't you attach more than one file per reply?) On the Primary ASA I would want the "...1.2.6" OID to be reported. On the…

Another example...again, is this honestly considered an improvement? The orientation and formatting of the text still really bugs me. Notice the word, "Target" on the chart Title and the word, "Time". The "g" in Target and the "T" in Time overlap. Something else I find concerning, is my v8 installation and my v9…

I noticed ONE of my ICMP nodes says "Machine Type = UNKNOWN". The ICMP node I JUST added does not say, "UNKNOWN". The ICMP node that is saying UNKNOWN was added pre-8.5.1. The one I just added is 8.5.1 SP1.

Based on the outcome of this poll, the comment by Andy Salo stating, "Currently just a small subset of Thwack members have chosen “Lean and Green” as a theme and by far most use “thwack-dark”." is grossly incorrect. Many more people use the Lean and Green, versus thawck-dark.
-
The twhack-light is "ok", but not nearly as easy to read, easy to use (layout, formatting, orientation) as Lean and Green.

Attached is a screenshot of my "Network Summary" (Home) view that is taking almost 60 seconds to load. The following resources are actually Custom Reports: "Performance Issues" "High Utilization" "Recent Device Reboots" "Down WAN Sites" "Down Network Infrastructure" "Site-to-Site VPN Tunnels" "SOHO Client Devices"…

Addition... Even local, non-pass through admin accounts lack an "EDIT" button on resources within a Node View. You cannot edit them to even name them, or add/edit secondary title, etc.
-
My first impression (from the demo, we won't be installing it anytime soon) is I don't like how all the resources have been "White-ified" like NCM. All resource blocks are white, bland and make all the data blend together. I'm not really keen on loosing my gradient shaded resource headers. When you have views loaded full…

It apparently added my node twice. When I access the "Node Management", the Windows laptop I added is listed...again, twice. (attachment)

I'm planning on upgrading from 8.1 to 8.5.1 this evening. I'll be happy to report back in the AM on my level of success. It actually solved one of the two problems we've had which have been stopping us from moving this tool into production for three months Curious, what were those problems?
-
As an update... Now that we are in December, all time stamps in email notifications are being reported in the "12th minute", because it is Dec, the 12th month. My time is no longer stating "11", as it was in November. Clearly, the month is being incorrectly stated in the ${MM} variable.
-
I conducted a test at 11:40:52. Below are the outputs of the variables I was testing with. As you will note, there is a problem with the "${MM}" variable, which is what I'm using. It always reports "11". ${Minute} works normally, so I can painfully update around 50 different alerts (and their resets) and change MM to…

Case 23265 opened.

Actually...now I think it's an 8.5.1 thing. I upgrade from 8.1 on Oct 31 at 6:30pm-ish. All of my event/alert time stamps since that time have almost always included some-hour, 11 MINUTES. The "xx:11:xx" is a reoccurring theme. There appears to be something wrong with hour, minute, seconds in variables in 8.5.1. 11/1/2007…

I could have used an "export/import" utility, or at the very least, a custom application to "migrate/upgrade" basic alerts to advanced alerts. Would have saved me a week of my life I could have spent evaluating more Solarwinds products to purchase. ;)

Correction. You cannot re-order the columns. Sure, you can move them around while you're presently within the Custom Property Editor, but when you exit, those changes do not retain. Once you go back into the Custom Property editor, the original order is restored.

Seconds after you posted your reply, I received the email notification about the ticket... Odd.

I opened up a support case on my "%1 is not a valid Win32 application" error when trying to setup a second IIS web instance on a different port, this was the response: ----- Our software supports one copy of the Web Console per Primary Poller or per Additional Web Server. It sounds like you'll need to contact your Sales…

I should also call out to SolarWinds dev, I would use the built-in "Unversal Device Poller Summary" resource, but it has no FILTER NODES option on that resource, so I can trim down what I'm actually interested in seeing. ...feature request.
