You'll need to configure those devices to send Syslog to the IP address of your Kiwi Syslog Server. For 1-3, you're going to need to consult the vendor documentation for how to enable Syslog. For 4, you can use the event to trap forwarder built into Windows (evntwin.exe). This requires that the SNMP service be installed on…

The behavior you're experiencing sounds similar to a bug we believe we addressed in 4.0.1. If you haven't upgraded already, would you mind doing so to see if this resolves your issue?
-
We completely understand your frustration and we have plans in place to make this a seamless process moving forward. We're moving all Orion products to new licensing, which allows for activation keys to be used to upgrade license tiers without the need to reinstall. New licensing also allows you to install an eval of one…

Brandon, Thanks for the post. Can you please submit a support ticket and include the contents of your post? We'd like to see if we can reproduce this in house. Also, let us know if you see any issues (e.g. NCM website, integration module) as result of this error. Thanks, -Chris

Why is it that when I put something like this: banner motd # ================================== CompanyName ================================== Hostname: ${Caption} Model: ${MachineType} Site Code: ${NodeGroup} ================================== Authorized Access Only ================================== #in the web interface…

What kind of "dumb terminal" are you using? Is this a Citrix client?
-
Yes. As long as the NCM services are still running locally on the server and you've configured your jobs to use a different Windows account than your own, you should be fine. Easy way to test this is to schedule a job to occur in 5 minutes that just emails you the result of a report. Then, log out and see what happens.

Ciag, this is a great idea and is actually something I've thought of as well but haven't had much requests. For internal folks, we're tracking this as #4339 If there are others out there interested in this enhancement, please chime in! Thanks,

When will the Web Access component pointto the SQL database (SQL Enterprise) rather than create a seperate SQLCE database. The problem is that you can only go back a certain numberof days in the CE database which defeats the object, espcially when youare logging into a core SQL database for all the key events. Web Access…

Yes, you'll want to check out the Policy Reporter capabilities included with NCM (please reference Chapter 9 of Admin Guide). Using Policy Reporter, you can create rules based on string pattern match or regular expression and flag a violation in a Policy Report.

Please open a support ticket and include a link to this thread. We believe this issue may be caused by timeouts for logins against TACACS+. We're considering adding retry logic to our next version to resolve these types of issues and we need to ensure all customers being affected have open tickets so we can include them in…

Yes, you could add the device and ignore the SNMP failed error. Then, you'd have to manually assign a device template since we wouldn't have a system OID from discovery to auto-associate.

Hi marko, we reached out to our friends in HP's partner program and they recommended the following: "I would suggest point this person to our support center. The ProCurve Customer Care Support team can be contacted 2 ways: by email or by phone. They can visit www.procurve.com/.../index.htm for more information and how to…

sbarter, glad your evaluation is going well! There isn't an out of the box monitor that does exactly what you're looking for, but you can use the External Process Monitor to call a vbscript that uses WMI to check if a files modify time/date is not changing. Microsoft has a really cool tool called scriptomatic that can help…

Currently, the only authentication possiblity is through the ipMonitor user accounts, but pass-through AD authentication is definitely on our roadmap.
-
This is possible, but you would have to write your own web interface that leverages ipMonitor's SOAP interface to pull monitor status from both installations. As your installation grows, you might consider moving to Orion + EOC, which is specifically designed to address this use-case.
-
Hmmm....haven't seen this before. Please open a support ticket and we'll investigate further.
-
I agree, this is a bug. We're looking at this in our next dev cycle. For internal folks, this is being tracked as #4259

I assume you are referring to the prerequisite for .NET 3.5. If so, you'll need to download .NET 3.5 from the Microsoft site listed below (to USB or CD) and install before running the NCM v5 installer. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=333325FD-AE52-4E35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en

Can you access the NCM website? The reason I ask is this also leverages the Orion NCM Information Service. You might also try running a repair on the NCM integration module.
-
We really appreciate the feedback. Are you familiar with Kiwi Syslog trap receiver capabilities? I'm working on our approach for integration Kiwi Syslog capabilities into Orion right now. If you're amenable, I'd love to have a call with you to talk through this in more detail.

The DNS component monitor is going to try to issue a DNS query against that port and will fail if it doesn't receive the appropriate DNS response, so that's not going to work for this use-case. You'd need to create a custom script to monitor a UDP port. It's important to note that UDP is a connectionless protocol so…

This sounds similar to an issue being reported by other customers whereby a service monitor doesn't retain the credential used during scanning. Can you try manually assign the appropriate credential to the service monitors from Configuration > Credential List?
-
Hi Chris, The current AM module is focused on process monitoring (up/down, CPU, memory utilization, number of copies running, etc.). However, we are working on a new application performance monitoring module for Orion leveraging technology from the ipMonitor acquisition. In addition to process monitoring, this new module…

Is this what you're looking for? http://oriondemo.solarwinds.com/Orion/DetachResource.aspx?ResourceID=846&NetObject=I:3074 Interface utilization charts are part of Orion NPM. Because NTA is a module extension of Orion NPM, you can simply add NTA resources to the NPM interface details view. In this way you can easily…

Ciag, I haven't seen any responses for other users experiencing this issue so it may be specific to your environment. Did you ever get to the bottom of this issue? If not, I think your best bet is to open a ticket with support.
-
If you haven't already, please open a support ticket and include details for vendor, model of switch, and what SNMP version you are using for inventory.

Is your client browser on a different time zone than your Orion NTA server?

hen I create a new Device in v9, I can create it with multiple monitors for that Device or Computer similar to v8.5 Groups, with a Dependency of a PING--and add that to an Email Alert....So, what would be the difference between the two scenarios...A Group of monitors for a single device with a PING dependency, OR a Device…

I think you're best bet is to submit a support ticket on this one and reference this thread. They'll likely need your install log to figure out what's going on. If anyone else is experiencing this error during upgrade, please let us know! Thanks,
