Welcome to the forum! ;-) Yes, this is absolutely the right place to post this type of question. Please see the "How Orion Works" section of the Admin Guide and let me know if this meets your needs.

Vic, thanks for posting on this one and good catch! This sounds like it could be a bug. Would you mind opening a support ticket on this and including a link to this post. In the meantime, I'll have our QA try to reproduce this behavior.

What do you get when you perform a validate login on the failing devices (select validate login from the drop-down menu on the device details pane)?
-
Currently, you can only do search and replace on the single config in focus.
-
Not today, but permissions-based management is on our roadmap. To ensure our implementation will cover your use-case, can you describe exactly what you are hoping to achieve? For example, do you need to limit script execution to certain nodes? Would it be okay to limit to a particular job?

When you say you want to monitor the traffic between them, are you primarily interested in bandwidth monitoring or are you trying to perform traffic analysis (i.e. what protocols, top applications, etc.). If the latter, you'll need to install the Orion NetFlow Traffic Analyzer module on your Orion server and configure your…

Have you checked to ensure that the source IP address of the Syslog device matches the IP address for the device in Orion NCM? Also, did you add the trigger to your Syslog Server to execute ConfigAutoDownload based on the Extremware Syslog config change event?
-
Did you add that local Windows user to Orion NCM (File > Manage Orion NCM Users)?
-
npereira, we're in beta on Cirrus v5 and it includes an Orion NPM integration extension. If you'd like to be included, please email me at chris.lapoint@solarwinds.com and I'll send you the beta sign-up instructions.
-
Can you clarify what you mean by "restriction"?
-
When you migrated, did you happen to upgrade versions as well? Does it only happen on specific device types or on all devices? In any case, please open a support ticket and include a reference to this post. We're in acceptance on 5.5 and if this is a real issue, I'd like get this fixed before we release.

SP2 is a valid update. You can check the following registry key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SolarWinds.Net\Configuration Manager] "HotfixVersion"="SolarWinds Orion NCM 5.0 SP2" "ProductDisplayName"="SolarWinds Orion NCM 5.0 SP2" In 5.1, we plan to update the footer of the website like in Orion NPM and make this…

I'm really interested in your use-case for data retention and search, so a couple of questions for you before I try to provide any recommendations: * Is 365 days being driven by internal policy, regulatory requirement, or an audit requirement? * How large does your database grow with 365 days of data before you roll this…

When I enable this option and set my devices to ‘User’ Login Credentials, what account will it use during my Nightly Config Backup scheduled job? It will use the device login credentials of the last user to edit the job. If you want to check this setting, you can edit the job and go to the Security tab. You should see a…

thanks for the suggestion. For internal folks, we're tracking this as #2919. If there are others interested in this feature, please chime in to help us prioritize!
-
Have you tried adding an exclusion regex in the comparison criteria (File > Settings > Comparison Criteria)?
-
erskine, can you please open a ticket with support and attach a session trace of the download? We're working on v5 right now and this is something I'd like to get fixed.
-
This is on our roadmap. Are you primarily interested in reports (inventory and compliance)? If so, how would you prioritize your options? It's not likely that we'll be able to provide all of them at once. E.g. 1. Printable version 2. Export to MHTML 3. Export to PDF

Does your network require a proxy server to connect to the Internet?
-
I'll add this as an enhancement request. Is it possible to setup a config transfer via FTP using the CLI? If so, you could setup a scheduled job that runs a command script to copy over the config to your FTP server.
-
Have you checked out the firmware upgrade scripts on the content sharing zone? http://thwack.com/files/folders/cirrus_config/default.aspx
-
You can try increasing the Telnet/SSH connection timeout (File > Settings > Telnet Settings) to see if this helps. If that doesn't work, I would recommend upgrading to 5.0.
-
The NCM User Activity Report can be run from View > Report > Audit > User Activity Tracking Report. You can create a report job and have this report sent to you or save its results to a file. The data is stored in the dbo.audit table in SQL.
-
Can you try adding the following line to your template? <Command Name="VirtualPrompt" Value="UnSaved:Lab_Pfa>"/> Not sure if this will help or not because everything seems like it's working as it should.
-
You might need to upgrade. NCM 5.1.1 website includes the ability to upload and download configs from the website.
-
There is a plan to add these capabilities in future releases. See this survey link to get your vote in on what you want to see first: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=iDgBI37pAjW80TWSVUNncQ_3d_3d

Not today, but that's on our roadmap.

Thanks for the great feedback!! Please see my responses below. 1. Why don't SolarWinds implement such a simple solution for loging automation as SecureCRT? It really works - you can define what to expect and what to send. I have tested several applications for configuration management and nobody has done it. I believe it…
-
Is there any combination of VirtualPrompt, VirtualEnableMode, Delay, RegEx, etc that would allow me to ignore the hostname when it's in the configuration? Unfortunately, no. The NCM state machine requires a prompt to know when it's done downloading the config so it can properly archive it to the DB and file system.

Hi, our server team is currently evaluating APM on top of our NPM installation. They're pretty taken with the system at the moment but want to be able to monitor windows event logs with the 'Windows Event Log Monitor' component and exclude events from being monitored based on their Event ID. (Current functionality only…
