On #1, your best bet is to open a ticket with support so they can work with you to diagnose. I expect it may be a credentials issue, but it is strange that you're able to add them manually. On #2, there is no scheduled network scanning capabilities, but this is something we are considering for a future release.

Have you looked at Orion APM? It provides several mail monitors, including SMTP that might provide what you're looking for.

Yes, on the NCM scheduled job notifications tab, you can setup a notification that will email you the results upon completion. Another mitigation technique might be to break out the task into multiple jobs (e.g. 4 jobs of 50 devices), so you'll be notified sooner of any issues. Let me know how this goes.

d-moore, thanks for the post. Glad to have you on board. When validating login, we essentially run through all possible commands on the device. Cirrus provides device templates that map Cirrus operations (e.g. download config) to specific operations on each device (see this post for more details ). For Cisco PIX firewalls,…

If I execute a config backup using my ID for security it works. However if I use the service account we have set up for solarwinds it fails. Can you elaborate on what you have configured in NCM? For example, if you edit a device, what account credentials are specified Login Information? Are the service account credentials…

This is possible using ipMonitor's legacy SOAP interface. For more details, see https://support.ipmonitor.com/devdocs.aspx

Scheduled discovery isn't a part of NCM today, but we're working on adding this functionality to Orion and NCM will benefit from this enhancement based on it's ability "import from Orion" job.

Are all your workstations XP? Here is a link that describes how to enable WMI on your Windows machines: http://www.poweradmin.com/help/enableWMI.aspx HTH,

Thanks for the feature request. I've got this tracked now. We're also exploring if there's any workarounds that could be used today.
-
Steve, have you created a support ticket for this issue already? If not, please do so as we'll need to grab diagnostics from your machine to troubleshoot this further. AFAIK, we haven't seen this happen for any other customers.

Can you try inserting \ before each quote to see if that helps?
-
Does entering into enable mode require a password? If so, you'll want to use ${EnterConfigMode} instead and Cirrus will take of entering the appropriate credentials based on what you specified in device details. If not, then the above script should work and we'd need you to post a session trace to diagnose further.

I would recommend trying to upgrade to 5.1. This includes all updates in 5.0 SP1 and SP2 and may resolve your performance issues. If you still experience issues with 5.1, please open a support ticket so we can work with you to troubleshoot.
-
Can you explain? CatTools does NOT require an Internet connection to register. You simply need to copy the registration information from the email you received when you purchased.

This is not possible today. For internal folks, this is already being tracked as #2474

Hi, I'm the product manager for Toolset. We are in the process of prioritizing enhancement requests for the next release which is planned for first half of 2007. SNMP v3 support is definitely a high priority candidate for this release. Please see the following post for more information: www4.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp…

I'd recommend you upgrade to the latest version (4.0.1) because it is likely this issue was resolved in that release.
-
We're planning on adding the ability to add a 3rd column in 5.1 (after SP1)
-
can you please add the ability to put the application template description as a variable in the alert trigger? We need to be able to tell the service desk what the application is, and what is means when it is DOWN. We've been talking about this internally so great minds must think alike. However, we were thinking you also…

Have you configured any filters in your subscription? If not, can you verify that the entries you expect are in the Windows Audit Log?

This is a really interesting idea. So you're saying that you would choose to display a section of the ipMonitor data (e.g. Map or specific resource) within your Sharepoint 2007 website. From a security perspective, would you expect the web part to authenticate into ipMonitor somehow or is it okay if it functions with…

Orion NPM includes a Syslog and SNMP Trap server which can be used to collect logs from firewalls and security devices and you can certainly setup alerts based on these events. However, NPM does not provide any specific features geared towards analyzing security events. It's primary focus is on the operations side -…

Do the D-Link switches provide a command line to connect and execute the "copy TFTP" command? If so, you should be able to create a simple device template to make this work. If you need NCM to act as a TFTP client, this isn't possible today.

Sorry, I'm not completely clear on what you mean by "custom object name". Are you referring to the "friendly" node caption?

You should be able to find this in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SolarWinds.Net\SolarWinds 2002\License HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SolarWinds.Net\SolarWinds 2002\Serial

You'll want to make sure the SNMP Trap Service is running. Please note, the SolarWinds SNMP Trap Service requires that the Microsoft SNMP Service be enabled and properly configured as well.
-
Can you confirm the following about the interfaces you which to receive CBQoS data on: 1. Interfaces are added to Orion as managed interfaces 2. Interfaces are added to NTA as monitored interfaces
-
Please post a session trace and we'll see if we can get this working. It might be a prompt issue.

Yes, *NIX machines can be monitored using ipMonitor, but you'll need to install the free Net-SNMP agent on those systems (ipMonitor will pull standard HOST-RESOURCES-MIB statistics like CPU, memory, disk) OR enable the native SNMP agent on the system and leverage ipMonitor's custom SNMP wizard to monitor the desired…
