Can you edit your devices and verify that the "Orion Node Import" allow field is set to "yes"? We inadvertently set this to "no" by default. This is changed in 6.0, but in 5.5.x you'd need to change this manually using a bulk node edit.

We do ship with an ASP/HTML user experience (QA) monitor that allows you to specify a string within the HTML returned to match on. If you are talking about comparing two different text files together or two different web pages, then no we don't provide anything out of the box in this area. For custom requirements, you can…

Yes, you can remove that line. However, you'll have to open the Kiwi website with the direct URL. For example, http://192.168.10.97:8088/

Could you describe in more detail what you believe would be involved in testing a Citrix or RDP connection? Is this accessing a website with forms-based login? Or is this testing a particular port for an appropriate response?

helmsc, Thanks for posting your solution. We were looking into the issue on our end as well and were unable to duplicate. Can you provide any additional details on what seemed to be the root cause of the issue? If this is an installer issue, we'd like to make sure this is resolved in subsequent releases. Thanks, Chris…

Hi dtelfer, If you haven't already, I would recommend that you repost this to the Orion forum area to ensure you get coverage of your question. Thanks, -Chris ______________________ Chris LaPoint Sr. Product Manager SolarWinds

Orion NPM includes an additional component (see customer portal) called Log Forwarder for Windows that will forward Windows Event as Syslog. However, our focus is more on the operational aspects of logs so we don't have anything specific related to compliance.

Thanks for the request. We're now tracking this one. If others have similar needs, please chime in!

Are you able to get bandwidth monitors configured? Also, are you walking the device using SW tools from the same machine as ipMonitor or a different machine?
-
Just to close the loop with folks on thwack. Here's the resolution from the support case: After doing further investigation development is confident this is a Microsoft issue. There is a support ticket opened on it, reference # SRQ100121600614. The best of course of action for you is to open your own support case with…

Can you post a session trace of where this gets you to? It seems like your download config indirect command mapping gets you to the last menu, but where is it that you specify the address of the TFTP server and file name?

You can create a custom property in NCM to store the WAN IP Address variable, but you would have to fill it out manually. I completely understand the use-case though and, as noted in this post, we're working on "advanced scripting". Advanced scripting will provide the following capabilities: 1. Ability to add logic to…

Have you tried disabling node monitoring?
-
Can you please open a ticket on the first part? This sounds like a bug to me.
-
Those defaults only apply to monitors not yet created. To change this for existing monitors, you'll need to use Mass Edit (Edit > Mass Edit > Monitor Properties and change Accumulated Failures per Alert).
-
No, you'll need the service pack specific to the build type (license or eval). If you are running a recent eval, the latest SP should be automatically installed after the main installer runs.

Got this one. Thanks. We're working on requirements for the next version of Syslog and Traps so if you have other feature enhancements, please let me know.
-
Not currently, but we are working on the next release which will provide some improvements in this area. If you're interested in participating in the beta, please send me a private email.

To workaround this for now, I would update the device template (<install dir>:\Program Files\Solarwinds\Configuration Management\DeviceTypes) and change the Running Config command to be the same as the Startup Config. You'll want to download both each time to eliminate the conflicts in the charts. We're working on a fix…

(1) How does IPM use the protocols to collect data? ipMonitor uses SNMP to remotely collect data from network and Linux devices and can use SNMP, WMI, or RPC to remotely collect data from Windows servers. ipMonitor automatically figures out the best protocol to use for data gathering based on what's available and type of…

NCM 5.5 will be out soon so stay tuned. Although we've certainly got compliance checking at the interface level on our roadmap, that wasn't the focus of this release. However, we hope you'll see that there are lots of other enhancements in 5.5 that will be valuable to your organization.

Thanks for the feedback. I think this is a good idea and we'll look at this for a future release.. For internal folks, I've captured this as #813

NCM is focused primarily on network config backups. However, there are a few network appliances (e.g. F5 Big IPs) that are linux-based where we've been able to backup the config by executing a "cat" command to show the file contents on the screen. I'd recommend checking out that template on our content exchange (along with…

The ability to group by Node Group and custom properties in the All Nodes resource will be available in 5.1

There's an update to the free TFTP Server coming out soon that will allow you to specify which NIC to use for TFTP transfers. I believe the TFTP server version you are using automatically defaults to the first one. The only way to make it bind to a different interface is to disable the other interface and restart the TFTP…

Question #2 is: Is this expected with NTA upon upgrading NPM from 9.1 to 9.5 and are my NTA settings still saved/accessible somewhere? This is not mission critical but I would like to learn and know this. Your NTA settings during the upgrade should be preserved. The only thing to verify after upgrade is the "Automatic…

Great idea. For internal folks, this is being tracked as #1159.

Endpoint-centric Traffic Analysis Resources I'm really glad you see the value in this enhancement! Others, please chime in if you have use-cases for this feature. It's going to be an expensive one (that would preclude other features) so your feedback will help prioritize. I would think in addition you would want tosee what…

FYI, there is device command template for Cisco WLC available on the content sharing zone:

You can accomplish this using External Process Monitor and custom script. For help writing the script, you might check out the following tool from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=09dfc342-648b-4119-b7eb-783b0f7d1178&displaylang=en
