  • FYI, as a workaround for now, you could write a scripts that exercised your SOAP requests. You can call the scripts using IPM's external process monitor (custom executable / script monitor).
  • mrxinu is absolutely correct. See this blog post for more details.
  • We're coming out with 9.0.1 very soon (within weeks not months). If you have any issues with the current build, your best bet is to submit a support ticket and you will be on the first to receive the new build if it resolves your issue.
  • Great news for all those who have been waiting for a new TFTP Server. Based on your feeddback, we have added the following features to the TFTP Server that will be release in Engineer's Toolset v9.0 at the end of this month: 1) Blocksize option (RFC 2347, 2348) - 2) Transfer size, and timeout options (RFC 2349) 3) Run as…
  • This isn't possible in the existing App Mon module, but we are building this capability into the new App Perf Mon (APM) module. If you are interested in being part of the beta program, please send me an email. Thanks,
  • Config snippets should have been upgraded when you moved from 3.x to 4.x as the location has NOT changed. They are stored in the ConfigArchive table (Select * From ConfigArchive where ConfigType='Snippet'). HTH
  • Thanks to everyone that has posted thus far! This feedback will be extremely helpful as we plan our server monitoring and application monitoring enhancements for 2008. If you aren't already included in the new APM module beta, you'll be receiving an invite immediately ;-) Thanks again!
  • I'm curious to know if you ever tried to make this work using the scheduled archive feature and if so, what were the limitations that made this not possible. For example, is it because the size of the firewall logs are not predicatable enough to implement a scheduled archive/deletion?
  • d-moore, I've been informed by support that a similar issue was fixed in v4. Can you please ensure you're running on v4.0.1?
  • Good news, please see this post: We're working on rate-based charts as we speak.
  • Have you tried creating a template yourself? The Microsoft documentation references a Test-Replication Cmdlet: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124521%28EXCHG.80%29.aspx So, you could either set up a new application template with the appropriate monitors that map to each of these items or you could run the…
  • This feature is different than what you're asking for, which is the ability for objects affecting node availability (e.g. CPU, memory, disk, etc.) to roll up to node status. This is something we're looking at separately. We're going to update the what "we're working on post" once 10.0 ships and we've completed our…

  • ability to be able to select if you to collect any performance stats or not on a process, of if you ONLY want to know if a process is running one or more times I'd like to make sure I've captured this requirement correctly and ensure we don't have any workarounds that we could deliver out of band. Can you please describe…
  • Thanks for the post. Please see this thwack post on what we're working on....I think you'll be happy ;-)
  • We're working on integration plans now, but we don't have any firm timelines at this point. We'll certainly engage the community with prototypes, betas, etc. as we move along in this process. In the interim, you can setup Kiwi Syslog Server and forward critical syslog events to Orion Syslog Server (which makes it visible…
  • We definitely hear you all on this one. For APM v1, we were forced to make some trade-offs between giving you all the new and cool monitors (with template capabilities) and building in automated discovery into the website. See Denny's post on similar issue here for our direction in this area: If you have suggestions on how…
  • At least with this we could see how many times it truly went down over time. I assume the link up trap would clear the alarm or would it wait on the default polling interval for clearing or both? Both. You could setup another action on a link up trap to clear the alarm or you could let the default poll change the status…
  • For internal folks this is #2689. Can you describe exactly how you'd expect this capability to work? For example, is this config mirroring in addition to our existing config archive feature or do you simply want to redirect config archive to a different server/share?
  • Thanks for your feedback. We are working on the next version of the AM module now called Application Performance Monitor (APM), so your post is very timely! For more details, see this post. Please provide a detailed description of the reports you'd like to see. I can't make any guarantees, but we'll do our best to…
  • We also use HyperV on a huge scale ( 18 HyperV hosts with 22 guests on each) ive been waiting over a year now for NPM and APM to work properly with HyperV (NPM doesn't register RAM in HyperV hosts properly, bug reported last year) but i have seen no improvements. The broader Hyper-V infrastructure monitoring is what we're…

  • It's not possible today. See: You could overwrite the map icon files with your own, but it's not recommended.
  • Can you both please open support tickets on this issue and reference this thread? I'd like to make sure this is reproduced in house.
  • If you haven't already, please open a support ticket on this one and include a reference to this post. We'll definitely want to get to the bottom of this one. Just to clarify, the install order was: 1. Running NPM 9.1 and NTA 3.1 2. Installed NPM 9.5 - views disappeared 3. Installed NTA 3.5 - views still gone Is that…
