Yes, that should work. Here are the instructions: Adding Nodes Connected through a Serial Terminal ServerWhen adding devices connected through a serial terminal server, you need to specify certain information that is specific to the terminal server device and other information that is specific to the device attached to the…

Yes, that's definitely on the list.

Can you post the entire trace for a download operation? It's hard to tell what's going on with just those last lines.

Updating of the All Nodes resource in NCM website to allow grouping by NodeGroup and Custom Property is planned for 5.1. I'm happy to setup a web demo preview for anyone who is interested in seeing what's coming next. Wrt/ AD login for config changes, I think you mean the ability to pass through AD login username and…

It appears that the configuration of the dumb terminal prevents IPM from storing the session cookie on the server. Do you have any other sites that require cookies? You might try those to see if you experience the same behavior. If not, then I would go ahead and open a support ticket.

NickFR, Did you ever get resolution to your issue?

The interesting thing is if I add them at scanning they are access denied, if I add them afterwards by going add - > new monitor they work. any ideas? Can you try this instead? 1. Leave them as access denied 2. Go to Credential Manager (Configuration > Credential List) 3. Re-assign the credential to all of the service…

Yes, if you go the node / interface management screen in Admin, you can edit an interface and set a custom interface speed that will be respected when calculating utilization

Hi temba, Orion and ipMonitor are developed by SolarWinds and are not based on any open source projects like Nagios. For the applications you listed, Orion AM module can monitor the processes and services that represent those applications and their respective CPU load and memory utilization from a performance perspective.…

Can you try only providing an SNMP credential? This will help validate that SNMP is enabled on your Windows.
-
Have you tried using MIB browser (in Toolset) on the Cisco device to do a search for that MIB?
-
Thanks found it. Inventory performance is something we're looking at for our next release. I've made sure your case is linked with the existing item so we can get back to you with whatever we come up with.

NCM ships with 3 default built-in accounts (Administrator, Engineer, WebViewer). You cannot create any additional built-in accounts. When you say you cannot authenticate using AD accounts, have you added them to the NCM using the desktop application (File > Manage Orion NCM Users > Add Windows Users)? NCM must be made…

I just realized you're on a really old version! 7.2.35 Log file rotation was added in 8.30 (www.kiwisyslog.com/index.php. We also added a new scheduler that replaces the old archive functionality in that version. See screen shots below. When you get a chance, please download the latest version and let us if that meets your…

The Monitor Name field "[IP ADDRESS] [MONITOR TYPE]" is used only as a label / friendly user name and does not have any effect in how we group monitors for the purposes of upgrade. We create new device containers and name them based on your DNS configuration to map every monitor to a single device. Note, if you don't like…

I've checked with dev and we aren't using WMI to gather DHCP scopes. We use RPC for collection of DHCP data from your DHCP servers, which requires Windows credentials. There is no way to get data from the Windows DHCP server via SNMP. Just to clarify, the instructions you were referenced were for subnet scanning which uses…

It's a fair request and something that we're actually working on as we expand our virtualization capabilities beyond ESX monitoring to VM DataCenters and Clusters. In the interim, I'm going take this idea and do a blog post on how to create an uber VMware view.
-
Ok, nothing jumps out immediately to me as a possible cause based on the error you received. I'd recommend going ahead and opening a ticket with support so they can gather additional logs and we can troubleshoot further. While you're waiting, you might try applying Service Pack 1 (see )

If that node is managed, it sounds like a bug. We actually made enhancements in 5.5 so that multi-homed devices would work as well, so as long as one of the interface IPs on the device matches, it should still download the config on the corresponding device. Please open a support ticket on this and make sure to include a…

I realized this thread got confusing.. and I'm not sure my previous reply accurately covered it. I want NCM to use NPM users. I'd like to be able to telnet or ssh into a router based on the credentials the user logged in with, not per device stored credentials. . Ok, that makes more sense. This would mean one of two…

Does this mean that monitoring via my hotstandby when upgrading to SLX is an approved and tested solution? If this is the case, I simply have to install APM/ALX onto my standby (this is free now on my standby, as I have one license for my main server?). If this is a simple change of license files in the app, can this not…
-
That's correct - at least as it pertains to the end goal for the feature. We're still sizing and scoping this feature so the multi-level tree for browsing may not be in the initial version. However, we're fairly certain that we'll have nested containers.
-
If they're not supported out of the box, yes, you'll need to write a custom device script.
-
Ah, I didn't realize you were trying to inventory them. I thought you were interested in just backing them up via SSH, Telnet, or TFTP. Without SNMP, the only way to gather inventory data is to create some scheduled scripts to store the result of "show" commands (assuming they exist) to a file and/or email the results.

Thanks for the posts. For internal folks, this is being tracked as FB#4673.

You could use the File > Import Device capability to get these devices into Cirrus initially. Unfortunately, from that point forward, you're going to have to muck with the database to add the data that Cirrus would normally get by polling / downloading configurations. The database schema is pretty transparent, so this…

We're amenable to fixing these problems for sure, but we're going to need your help in isolating the scenarios where this occurs. If you can find a consistently reproducible scenario where this happens, please document in as much detail as possible and open a support ticket. As noted in this thread, it may be environmental…
-
Awesome! BTW, I meant to ask before, is there a reason why you're not running with the latest version of Cirrus (i.e. v4.0.1)?
-
We'll consider it, but the chances of this making the next release are unlikely. I'm curious bheinrich, if you already have Orion, what are you using ipMonitor for?
-
If you have immediate needs for advanced application monitoring, you might also check out ipMonitor.
