In v8, the user still has the ability to "stop using the current filter" and modify other monitors so nothing has really changed here as far as limiting access. But, you're right, you were able to limit what they could see (at least initially). Unfortunately, there is no way to limit view access to just specific monitors…

Yes, I would go ahead and delete the old jobs from the scheduled tasks. I'm still not sure what caused the issue. If this continues to give you problems, please go ahead and open a support ticket on this one and we'll try to reproduce. It would be helpful if you could find out how the engineer was deleting the jobs and…

No worries. After thinking about it more, your suggestion makes a lot of sense. We'll try to squeeze this into 5.1. For internal folks, this is #3117.
-
Ok, definitely open a ticket on this issue and include a reference to this post. We should not be overwriting any existing rules.
-
vhcato, can you forward me your case number? With respect to removing BETA2, see the beta forum. We've found the issue and have provided a workaround.

I have about 25 - 40 instances of ConfigAutoDownlad.exe running on my Cirrus server which shoots CPU usage to 100%. About to open a ticket with SW. Definitely open a ticket on this one. I'll let them know it's coming. We are aggressively fixing any issues with RTCD as part of the v5 release.

Thanks for the posts. I've got this one. For internal folks, this is being tracked as #4100. If there are others interested in this feature, please chime in to help us prioritize.

Just FYI, one option to consider is an extension to Firefox called IE tab (which should give you Firefox + windows pass-through + Toolset integration). You can configure the Orion website to always come up in an IE tab and do all your browsing through standard Firefox tabs.…

Can you enable session tracing (file > settings > session tracing) and post the results of a download config? You can find session traces in <install dir>\Configuration Management\Session-Tracing.

It appears NCM is not recognizing the custom device prompt. Try adding the following lines to your template: <Command Name="MenuBased" Value="false"/> <Command Name="VirtualPrompt" Value="@ubuntu:~$"/>

Just an update based on the ticket I had opened. Looks like one item in the inventory process, specifically the bridge table, has an issue with the MIB and OID that NCM attempts to poll. From the response I received: "The Trap Authentication Failure I have generally seen on the Bridge table item in the inventory. I do not…

Can you post your device template? Also, what version of NCM are you using? On older versions, there are more limited options as to what you can customize in the device template.

Thanks for the offer. We're actually doing testing of the latest Toolset version (9.1) on x64 to determine where the issues lie. Depending on the issues we find, we'll try to target the fixes for the next release but we can't commit to anything right now.

FYI, we're working on an updated beta version of Log Forwarder that includes: * Support for Windows XP/2000 * Support for Vista/2008 * Fully extensible filtering of Events * Silent install support using MSI (e.g. for use with Microsoft SMS) If you're interested in participating in the beta, please sign-up here:…

It appears that IBM MQ Series does not provide native support for SNMP. What things do you want to monitor on IBM MQ Series and what platform is it running? If it's running on Windows, you can use performance counter monitors and scripts. If it's running on Unix/Linux, you can use the Unix/Linux script monitor to gather…

Simon, thanks for the thoughtful feedback based on your experiences. I was actually thinking something more along these lines: * Update Bandwidth monitor so that it includes a property field for interface description. This field should be populated during discovery and rediscovery operations * Update all dashboard…

If you were able to get the OID value, you should be able to just insert this into the Custom SNMP monitor. Check box next to device you'd like to monitor, select Add > Add Monitor, and select Custom SNMP Monitor Wizard and enter your OID value. This will scan the device and retrieve the current value. This of course…

The drop-down list is a list of Cirrus properties defined. So, the missing step is to create a custom property in Cirrus to map the Orion custom property. File > Settings > Custom Properties. HTH,

Actually, if you do a search for sFlow v5 in the document, you will find the following HP ProCurve Switch models do support sFlow v5: 3500yl, 5400zl, 6200yl, 6600, 8212zl Also, I'm not sure how updated that matrix is. I would ask your HP rep which of there switch models support sFlow v5 to be sure. In the meantime, I'm…

When you unzipped the installation, did you unzip the update.exe into the same directory as the main installer. The reason I ask is this is a known issue fixed in 5.0 SP1. The latest build is actually 5.0 SP2 so you should have that one if you've downloaded recently. In any case, please run update.exe manually and then…

If you're comfortable with posting on Thwack, you can cut and paste the session trace into your post. This would be ideal because other moderators on Thwack can help diagnose. Alternatively, you can shoot me an email: chris.lapoint@solarwinds.com

This is definitely a candidate for the next release, but I can't confirm anything at this point. Can you explain how you would expect this to function? For example, ipMonitor receives an email from a 3rd party system, then what? Do we need to count accumulated emails before alerting? Or do you expect this to just function…

And to answer your questions, yes its on the same machine, and im using http://127.0.0.1:8888 as a Orion NCM Locationin NPM admin/NCM information setting. That may be your issue. You should just enter the IP address of the local NCM server.

Can you post a list of commands required to show the running config and we'll see what we can do?
-
You can change Kiwi Syslog to run on a different port and then forward to Orion on standard 514

We hope to have this available in early 2009.

Here are the steps updated for v9 terminology:* Navigate to Configuration > Alert List, then select the Alert to which the Action will be added. * Click the Add Action option on the submenu bar, then select Customizable Email from the drop-down menu. * Input values for: Action Name, Send an Email Message To, and Send Email…

for internal folks this is being tracked as #4338

I forgot that Config Archive setting in the default configuration. You are absolutely correct. Scheduled job is unnecessary. Can you try something for me? Can you edit your scheduled download config job and uncheck the box next to "only download configs if changed" and see if the configs then show up in your Config…
