We're currently wrapping up with the beta and our plan is to release it this summer. Have you signed up for the beta already?

You're right. In talking with the developers, it's a lot of complex joins from different tables to get all of this into a single report. Do you know if "show version" always includes serial number information for all Cisco devices? This might be an alternative way to get at this information

This turns out to be correct. However, if this is a mistake, it is not one that was made by the user (I am the only user) - a "mistake" implies that I have done something incorrectly, and I know I have not. Seems like a very odd option to me. Why would you be able to add a resource to a view and then be able to change the…

This is very high on our priority list, but it won't make the next release due to the extent of the changes. The current workaround (using duplicate devices and custom device templates) listed above is your best bet for now.

Need session trace

that's great news! anytime.

Thanks! I'm sure others will find this really helpful. I've posted to the content exchange here:

dreary, can you please open a support ticket on this one? We want to be sure this is fixed in 5.0.

As noted in a previous post on the previous page ;-) user tracking is at the top of our enhancement priorities and we expect to add this feature in future release of NCM. To ensure we prioritize the right use-cases in our implementation, can you help us understand which features of CW User Tracking you use the most? Here's…

Did you happen to see the report uploaded on Tue, Oct 21 2008 10:29 AM within this thread? FYI, per your suggestion, this report was added as a default report in the 5.1 release. It should be listed as Cisco 3750 Stack - Physical Entity.

Just to clarify, there are 2 issues being tracked in this thread which are separate and not necessarily related: 1. Polling engine loses connectivity to the database and doesn't recover the connection until the service is restarted. * What to do? We believe we have a fix for this and we're testing it out with a few…

o 2 things here. Orion needs a better way to self heal in cases like this. Maybe a heartbeat to the DB server. If it's lost it keeps trying and once it's restablished to automatically stop and restart the services. I'll look into this. My understanding is we already do this today. You may have hit the maximum retries. .…

Our understanding is this issue was specific to a particular CatOS version. We try to be careful about making global changes as it could result in problems for others. I'll create a new thread and ask if anyone else is experiencing problems with CatOS. If it turns out that everyone would benefit from this change, we'll…

Ok, thanks for the clarification. Please open a ticket with support and reference this thread. I'd like to see if this bug still exists in 5.1.1 which is coming out soon.

With every release, we do our best to include as many features as we can and to ensure that they represent what most customers are asking for. Unfortunately, no matter what we pick to include, we're inevitably going to disappoint some people. We think our approach works for most, but we can definitely understand why folks…

Frank, sent you a PM about this.

Do you have your CBQoS policies configured on sub interfaces? If so, please open a support ticket (include reference to this post) and they can get you a fix currently testing for this issue.

Good discussion here. I'm really interested in how people would like these charts to work. Just to clarify, here's how the Running versus Startup Config Chart works today: 1. Each time you download a Running Config, NCM compares it to the latest Startup Config at that point in time. If there is a conflict, NCM marks it in…

Can you post the exact commands you would need to login to system context and show its config on your device? Also, if you're amenable to download via TFTP, please also list the commands required to login to system context and download via TFTP.

We're working on a beta version that includes: * Support for Windows XP/2000 * Support for Vista/2008 * Fully extensible filtering of Events * Silent install support using MSI (e.g. for use with Microsoft SMS) If you're interested in participating in the beta, please sign-up here:…

Try changing "Type of Property to Monitor" to "APM:Application"? You'll want the type of property to monitor to match what you are triggering on in your condition. There are some example application alerts (e.g. alert me when an application goes into warning or critical state, alert me when an application goes down) that…

Brent, thanks for the post. If you're interested in a preview demo of what we're working on in this area, please send me a private message.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I've updated the enhancement request with these additional nuances in the requirements.

Based on the session trace, it appears that the following is happening: 1. NCM sends "showconfig" 2. NCM waits for prompt before sending next command (Y${CRLF}). The saved prompt is hostname> 3. NCM sees "Do you want to include passwords? Please be aware that a configuration without passwords will fail when reloaded with…

Here's how this can be accomplished today with NCM 5.0: 1. Add a device instance for each virtual firewall (i.e. multiple copies of the same device). NCM only supports 1 running config and 1 startup config per device so this is a way of working around this limitation 2. Create a version of the device template for each…

That is all good if you want to get the serial number of every members of the stacks you have. But what if you would like to get one report, to get the serial numbers of all your devices, including the multiple ones in stacks. I tried to do a report based on the Physical Entities type of report but I can't filter to only…

BTW, for folks following this thread, we've done extensive beta and RC testing of 9.5.1 specifically around the "stopped polling" issue and have validated this service release resolves issues in 99% of the cases. There were a couple of issues that we're still working through that were specific to a few customers. So, if…
-
Sorry, I'm missing the context for the original post from which you quoted yourself. Can you explain exactly what the problem was and the expected resolution on our side? If it's something that should have made 5.5.1, then I'd certainly like to chase that down.

You don't need SNMP write strings to make config changes. You just need an SSH or Telnet account with enough privileges to execute a "config t" operation to enter into config mode on your Cisco devices.
