Definitely good to know that it's going RC! Maybe I won't have to wait as long as I was thinking. Lots to look forward to in this release.

It would be nice to see complete web integration, IMHO. It would make sense to ditch the console in favor of a complete web based front end.
-
I would love to see something like this implemented. Coming from a different system that had this feature already, it is sorely missed.
-
I'd like to see something like this too. I think what would be nice is if you have the ability to enter in credentials/information for SNMP and WMI on the edit node screen (But still pick a specific type for polling). Then the application templates could just use that information you entered for either WMI/SNMP depending…

Even if you dissolve / remove HA at the end and re-claim the old servers IP on the new one?
-
Same problem here. The logs don't seem to give any indication as to the problem either. Opened a support case and have yet to receive a response. Tried to call support and after about 30 minutes of sitting on hold it dropped my call. Trying to call back in. Quite the frustrating experience. From the software bugs to…

Almost 2 years and still nothing. Kinda disappointing.

I forgot to mention this feature request at the SolarWinds meetup at Ignite this past week. But another thing mentioned several times was the ability to put things in maintenance mode on a schedule, or silence alerts with a "mute" custom property. This feature really needs to get worked on eventually to eliminate hacky…

I'd think with the new Linux agent something like this could be integrated a little easier. At least support for a limited number of systems would be nice (such as apt/yum). Sadly it doesn't seem like the this module is keeping pace with the improvements with the other modules.

*cough* Windows Azure Monitoring, Azure Performance Monitoring - Applications Manager *cough* Time to catch-up with the competition!
-
Looking less and less likely Do they usually do a public RC before general release? I was waiting for SAM 6.3 to hit before upgrade to NPM 12, which causes a chain of module upgrades I have to do anyway. And since we are using quite a few SAM agents already, module upgrades at the moment tend to cause headaches.

Just had a request where having this data would have been super handy. Really surprised to see that this was not included out of the box. Can't imagine this would be very difficult to include.
-
Yep, eagerly awaiting this release. Especially with the profiles you can assign to auto-monitor specific things when a newly deployed server comes online with the agent installed on it. Certainly reduces a lot of manual effort/scripting.

Vote 998...so close to 1000. So many times where this would be helpful.
-
Email templates for alerts would be great. It would also be better if SolarWinds just exposed an HTML templating language in general that could also be used to perform simple logic in the email template. Kind of like how you would in PHP Smarty/Twig templates, or other common programming languages that have templating…

I'm waiting for at least some hotfix releases, or possibly a minor version bump to avoid initial bugs in a new major release like this. I'd also like to wait until the next version of SAM hits so I can upgrade all of my modules at once.

I just ran into this issue recently. We have a read-only stub zone for a separate domain in our main DNS. It has all the info needed in it for IPAM to populate hostname information, yet it does not *sigh* It would also help if IPAMs additional polling engine actually worked/did something, as we could get around it using…

I have the same question as jkcy, as we use the agents extensively in our environment. Wouldn't doing this method break connectivity from the agents? I'd imagine you'd have to redeploy the agents after this?
-
We were forced to reboot the server this morning (for unrelated issues). After the reboot the agent started working again. Is there some more debugging I can enable on the agent side so that we get some more useful information for when the problem does happen again? I can't find any KBs regarding how to adjust the logging…

Basically I upgraded the central poller to all of the latest versions of the modules, then upgraded both the additional web server and the additional polling engine. Then I deactivated all the licenses on the main poller, unjoined it from the domain, and shut it down. Then I spun up the new central poller VM with the same…
-
Is there a technical reason why the number of agents per poller is limited to 900? Is it due to the amount of data they process from the agents?
-
Well that is technically possible...is that really how it should be done? :/ I'd hate to have to explain/document this for fellow co-workers. SNMP trap alerts should really be properly integrated within the advanced alerts in the web interface.
-
Apologies, I missed the question at the beginning of this. We are using SAM 6.2.3 and NPM 11.5.3. I was waiting to do a major upgrade of all the modules once the new SAM 6.3 is released. Anyway, the issue happened again on one of our hosted VMs so I opened case # 1050599 with some details about what I'm seeing in the logs.…

The upgrade took me forever, but I'm glad I went ahead with it. The only issue I ran into is described here: What could cause a monitoring Agent to be stuck in "Update in progress" ? Seems like there are lots of agent related issues with a NPM 12.0.1/SAM 6.3.0 upgrade depending on your configuration. However, the new…

I have the same issue in the GA release. So it doesn't seem to be fixed yet. I think perhaps it's related to the Global Agent settings vs the individual agent settings in regards to automatic updating maybe? The fix of removing the agent, then deploying it from the web interface and the triggering a plugin update worked…

The PM for SAM was actually at the last SolarWinds meetup at Ignite this past month and I asked about Linux support for doing a NetPath probe. As @Chad.Every mentioned, it's not supported right now with the Linux agent. It sounds like they coded it in such a way that the Windows agent is the only way it works right now.…
-
Interesting, I will double check. Though I have had to completely disable the Application Dependency Mapping feature in SAM because it completely hoses our environment after a couple days of running. The SolarWinds.Collector.Service.exe doesn't stop consuming memory and eventually all of our monitoring components go into…
-
aLTeReGo ,Has this actually been fixed in a later release? We'd love to start using this feature but ran into this issue and had to turn it off.
-
I don't think there would be any issue with that. You have a VPN link into Azure from your normal network, right? Or is your Azure environment completely disconnected from your normal network? Our setup is our central SolarWinds poller back at our main location, then we have several Azure VMs in a US region. I installed…

I have a powershell script I use for reporting on the patches that are still left on servers post-patching (it's basically just a better GUI for initiating a mass detect/report now on the servers and list patches still left based on WSUS groups). I've considered an additional scheduled script to catch the rest of the…
