It's there now!

Update: The agents failed to update as the Solarwinds AgentUpdater service on the node itself did not restart to allow SW to update the agent. Once the service was restarted, the agent updated.

I felt the same way with having to update all components vs. the component I want, but I have changed my tune and for me, I have just adjusted to additional testing. With that said, I would say that the documentation as well as support does not always make this clear. Even with the most latest updates, the indication is to…

My upgrade included 6 pollers across two domains. The installer correctly identifies and targets which components require update. A small note here. I might be in the minority, but I would prefer not to have to upgrade all components with this installer. I'd like to be able to opt-out, assuming the components do not have…

Hi Serena, Generally, I do not run the upgrade in parallel. I prefer the option of having a poller available to assign nodes to if I hit an issue with the poller being upgraded. I will also note that after running the upgrade on the main poller, the wording suggest to run the upgrade to APE's in the order and does not…

Re: Configuring Cisco UCS Monitoring This may help you out. I use SNMP on the FI and ICMP w/ UCS credentials for the VIP.
-
I know it's been a long time, but I was reviewing this thread and noticed this wasn't answered. It may help someone who is starting out with UCS. You can find the UCS Overview as a Widget. On the Node Details page, you can Edit with the pencil icon on the top left, then use the ADD WIDGETS button on the top right. Do a…

Naming the service in the template itself was what I was looking for. Excellent. Thanks!

I'd be interested in hearing what you find, as I thought AMS was installed and used by default for the ProLiant servers.
-
Just to add to d09h's response. What you are seeing is expected. Nodes report to the poller you assign it and do not auto-magically find another poller.
-
Thanks. I thought that might be the case.

Hi David. I just came across this method and for me, this will be what I move forward with. It was sorta of an 'ah-ha' moment and realized I wasn't leveraging the properties for alerting effectively. Thanks for opening my eyes. For those that do not following: You create a custom property that will add a field on your…

Thanks. I will give is a try.

The scope of my answer involves a manual restart on the server. As you mentioned, you will not be given a name if it is started via VC, etc.. You'd have to setup additional alerts to search those logs. Have you tried to leverage the log the alert to a file? It does not directly email you with the information, but you could…

joedissmeyer, I was fiddling with the download and I came across this error. Expecting element 'Report' from namespace 'http://schemas.datacontact.org/2004/07/SolarWinds.Reporting.Models'..Encountered 'Element' with name 'Report', namespace ". Any thoughts?

Happy to see Nimble added. I know the community wanted this. I will look to apply the support and provide feedback as soon as possible. Thanks!

This is only a partial answer to your multiple-part question, but there are options. You can generate periodic reports and send them out to a D/L. You can create it within the SW interface REPORTS | ALL REPORTS | MANAGE REPORTS. Or you can use REPORT WRITER off of the poller to customize one. I have not looked into the…

The options you have do not necessarily follow a hard rule for implementation. These options give you the flexibility to adjust to the constraints or preference in each environment. Are you more comfortable with Powershell? WMI is available right out of the box, where SNMP requires setup. Different systems may require you…

All. of. the. time!

Is the issue to this one node or are you unable to use these credentials to all of your Windows nodes
-
Two things come to mind. 1) Did the node change pollers to a poller that may not be able to reach the switch? 2) Did you perform a "test" of the SNMP settings? Not sure if that is what you meant by checked SNMP settings or if you just confirmed it on the switch.

I started with information here, Orion Platform: Preparing for the Upgrade to 2018.2, and had no real issues. My next step was to upgrade all of my SW Orion servers to Server 2016 and SQL 2016, per the suggestion in the previous installation. I decided to spin up all new servers. I run multiple pollers over two domains,…

Joe, I believe the most recent version of the components will now allow you to manage both NTA and Orion DB on the same instance. I am curious though, If you are hosting the DB's on the same instance, why are you not just putting the primary on the on-premise for both? As far as the fastbit, as you probably already know…

I am not aware of a method via Orion, but you can find free tools or leverage existing monitoring tools you may have to watch the Orion services. Obviously, these are not as robust as Orion itself, but can give you basic notification if the 'monitor' goes down.

This is a bit late and you may have already found this, but you can look in the Variables and do a search for DHCP. There is a variable for Display Name (DHCP Server) which should identify the server that is giving that scope out.

Hi. Perhaps you can do a search on the word "object" for the available widget that may give you what you are looking for. I currently leverage the Multiple Universal Device Poller chart as I have a UDP applied to multiple nodes. Using this widget, I created a simple page that displays this poller for % memory used, avg.…
