after tracking down this SmartAdvisor user guide I found out I can't use this product anyway … good luck.

To my relief I was informed that we are controlling active and decommissioned devices via a "Site" field. This accomplishes what I need. Thank you all for your suggestions.

I found good information from SolarWinds tech support regarding SAM and its transfer of data to and from vendor sites. However, having an issue getting a similar response regarding NCM. So far NO support from SolarWInds regarding SmartAdvisor - except to camp on THWACK to see if someone answers. How goes your situation?

Sir, on our NOC page it shows a widget that states a device is Manage or Unmanaged. I'm trying to tie this all together with End of Support dates. From what I understand we monitor a bunch of devices, but do not manage them. So I guess a ping to see if they are alive. An agent on a server or SNMP query to a Router or…

interesting ... all subnets are served from two different locations. how do you prevent duplicate IPs being issued?

Thank you very much. Gathering all information to make recommendation to client. Have a great day. v/r JIM

Not happy with your scenario. I'm hoping we do not run into the same issue. In regards to NCM not working with Cisco, have you tried it with Palo Alto? What about SAM? Same type of system: going to a vendor (Dell, HP, IBM) and getting your warranty, etc information.

rgr - that's all I'm seeing now. can't believe there isn't some tracking in this regard ... hope the IIS logs are detailed enough.

Thank you .... forwarding your information to people smarter than me. I await their comments. Appreciate the quick response.

Copy on your suggestion. Your thoughts were my initial thoughts on a solution. Waiting to see if other's want to comment before starting down this road ... since I will be adding many more devices to the database ... just want to make sure it's manageable over time. Thank you.

Mr. Marley, are you stating that if I can find determine the SNMP version then I know it is managed?

Your screen shot is looking good. Now question: using the dynamic query builder from what table did you start from? Nodes? Interface? The "Type" field that is displayed, where did that come from? Thank you in advance.

I don't have the answer, but am looking to do the same thing. Have a similar post I put up today regarding vendor information. Just wanted to jump on your thread.

things needed: do they include the AppInsight Active Directory template to domain controllers?

Ok … I couldn't get exactly want I wanted. Below is what I did. Added to Content Sections to the report. 1) Summary Results for all the Nodes (using the same data elements): Used the date and then caption fields, using the data aggregation "count" for caption. This gave me: Date Number of Devices (I changed name from…
