  • This is what I have seen after a review of the NCM interface; when I manage the Nodes there is no grouping option to group based on NPM Groups that I have created. I can group by type, or Custom Properties I have created. Since I manage by Region and Buildings I can choose a whole part of the campus, or specific buildings…
  • If you have devices that are not returning the SNMP Location, then it would be best to setup a Custom Property for location, site, build, etc. to highlight that detail. Once you have the details in place adjust your ajax to use the Custom Property that was setup instead of the SNMP Location. If you look at your node…
  • Working on a little over 3 years and going through at least 2 version changes using NPM for daily monitoring and alerting of critical network paths, from Core to Distribution to Access Layer Nodes and Uplinks. Hardware status via UnDP's and tuned alerting based on status of Power Supply, Fan and Module (inline cards and…
  • First part is getting your Sources into Netflow; point your NetFlow at the Orion Server. Second is to notate your Address Ranges, Server IP's and Port Details (via Netflow Applications) that you want to be able to see in your graphs and charts 1st - From the Netflow Summary -> Netflow Sources (Widget) -> Blue Link to…
  • It has potential to cause confusion, thanks for posting. This reminded me of how to manage this old issue.
  • Not pools specifically, as I was trying to get into that.... but I was able to get a good setup and was able to not only poll for DHCP daemon, but also use the Application Monitor to monitor the services. Of course this works as long as someone doesn't change Strings or disable reporting on the box itself.... hence my…
  • You will need to create a report. Add a custom chart to the report, and you can get the same display. Also you can get a table as well; but to get a good looking table you may need SQL/SWQL. The report you can export as XLS or PDF
  • My custom views are either for a different machine/monitor. - one view for my desk - one view for the monitors on the wall (NOC Type) Other views may be built off my default or some summary view that is stripped down and restricted to a certain group or Area(by custom property) for another department, that highlights just…

  • Another thing is what type of Circuits you are working with..... If you always get a light, then the interface will not go down unless there is a hardware issue, so you need to watch your trends and alert on something other than a down interface (of course keep that in place incase of hardware failure, but consider an…
  • If we lose a poller, we get NO Alerts from any node that is monitored by that poller. No stats, no updates. Whatever the state last reported will stay that way until the poller comes back to collect data again. * What I do get; is an alert that my poller went down - Rather If the Server Goes Down - If you want to setup the…
  • It does, just as everyone else has stated. What you can do, is use the 'Insert Variable' button (on the message section) to insert dynamic details that you want to be included in the log. Keep it simple so it is easy to read, but informative and meaningful so on review it does not raise a question. -CharlesH Loop1 Systems:…
  • Sorry I am late to the party here. Some of your iOS code versions will be more susceptible to this issue than others, so an upgrade certainly might help. Check your CPU, usage, and process usage. If SNMP is hitting your box hard enough to overrun the CPU the box will drop the packets so it can continue carrying on the…
  • This could be good, but I would still want a base configuration in place to be able to switch the flip and go back to in case of issues. Having presets programmed in and adjusted specifically based on current traffic analysis would be better than giving the reins to your robotic arm. Let's hope the programmer programmed…
  • Pretty much what they said... i have noted that some of my searches end up with a range or subject answers.. not always exactly what i need. But then some of what i do is outside the box.. Even with that, a Google search usually finds at least the same first 5 items that a Thwack Search found.... So Thwack is now my first…
  • Looks good, the only other thing I would consider is adding the variant of Fixed Disk without the space, ('FixedDisk') that shows from some vendors. I took a look at the DB tables for Volumes and did not see any other statuses that might come into play. Just in case you do have an event that does not trigger this is the…
  • This has been going on for years now - 23 pages of views and Idea's (maybe more by the time you click on it) Show us a NOC view and (don't ) get 500 thwack points (we still want to see, points no longer awarded)
  • Have you tried increasing your SNMP Timeout setting? I am wondering if you would see less holes in data / unknown events if you gave a little more time for response from the devices. I am curious if when you get an unknown, can you hit the Poll now and get it to pick up again on the status. Or does it just stay as unknown?
  • First thought would be limitations, but if you can find it in a search you may check your views per account and see if they are different. Possibly 2 views that look the same, but one module has a filter on it (check the edit button on the module). You can post a screen shot of each page with the different nodes listed...…
  • Why would you want to block anyone... such great content input. Oh wait, it's me isn't it.
  • You could use machine type for this, but it might be easier to track if you setup a Custom Property for Device Type/Fn to make the naming congruent. Then just add that condition to your separate alert. Now you have an alert for your devices used for routing. -CharlesH Loop1 Systems: SolarWinds Training and Professional…
  • If you are still having issue, I came across this today Cisco NXOS-1.3.6.1.4.1.9.ConfigMgmt-Commands Thanks to fholzapfel
  • No Issues backing up, My Issues is come 7710's being seen as a device type of Cisco, instead of a Nexus Box. Setup Like John Kelly and you should be good.
  • AndyRoberts mentioned this in post : SNMP Queue Failures I Quote : "After working with TAC for some time on this, it was identified that my switches had 2 known bugs associated to SNMP and SHH. After upgrading the code on my switches to a version where these bugs were fixed this appears to now be working or me. If it helps…
  • What version of NPM are you running?
  • I figure it would take just as long to DL and apply the config, as it does to just console in and set the darn thing up. Save your NCM diskspace I say, unless it is endless.
  • When you create Maps you either place your entities or groups on a map, those items have status. Default Icons will display a color for status and the map will update when status changes on your devices/entities. You see the updated map with updated status on reload of the page. -CharlesH Loop1 Systems: SolarWinds Training…
  • It should not take that long. You should be able to hit the poll now button on a node details and within a few minutes (max) refresh the page to see the updated values, with the most recent poll time. Our issue with this caused us to add RAM to the server, but mainly we discovered teh SQL DB was locking up. A support…
  • Normally I'll paste in the condition values for some of my traps, so you can decode them. But initially I am thinking you need the snAgGblTrapMessage portion from the ${Message} - which I have not found a way to do. I would see what your ${MessageType} shows. Looking at the DB Manager I am wondering if any of the following…
  • Note : This is all via the Trap Viewer -> VIEW -> Alerts/Filter Rules .. Trap Detail Patterns that I find useful; *cefcModuleStatusChange* - If you know your values you can watch this change and tell what sort of event is going on. *Module*, *CRIT* - provides a little more of the same *Inline Power Module timeout* *attack*…
  • I have been wondering the same thing.... the main thing, is you can tell teh system to Ignore the Auto's and setup your own. When auto is ignored, the dependency will not update with any network discoveries. Manual setups need to be updated manually - but if you setup with groups, you may be adding new items to your groups…
