You know the value exists if there is an option under a sub menu for that Property Type. You would need to check the menu break down after adjusting the Type of Property to Monitor... where it exists you will be able to use it.

It's giving you the full trap details, just as you would get from a Trap Alert; instead of the single line that used to be there. It is more information, in some cases (depending on the device) it may have some useful details. I would suspect this is the precursor to the trap alerts being moved to the web UI and you should…

A few things off the top - Not sure about your changing IP Addresses on the node and what that's all about... maybe your setting them up with in band IP, and changing to an out of band address on the node, or another back door, loopback, etc. - Your VM reset tells me you are losing resources, or as things start to run and…

I did find this - I think it may apply (as I am looking for the same answer) - and it appears that once we are in a DOWN state the polling resumes based on whatever interval you have placed... for me that is 2 minutes. For you mcordero it would be your 300 seconds / 5 minutes. So Max time to UP status is 4:59. Thanks to…

Within the Syslog Viewer you can forward syslogs, or run a VB Script, or send email - Check your Alert Actions in when you create a syslog rule.

It depends what tables these are. If the tables end with 'Details', these are somewhat normal. Make sure your DB Maintenance is running and completing every night. The details tables should start out in a good state but these tables are written with all of the statistics that you poll for. There is a lot of data and the…

With so many filter options, you might have a easier time setting up some custom properties either on the nodes, and or volumes to help provide an easier filter/where clause that may not have so many wildcards.

If you use the UnDP Application from the Primary Engine you can 'mass assign' a poller once you have it setup. It is not the best interface but far better than assigning from each node details page. If you are using the SAM component for SNMP Poller, then once you have a template setup you can assign to several nodes at…

And what if you have this issue while running NCM 7.2.2 ?!

You can use Atlas to create a 'map' and place whatever entities or groups you need to. You can show connections and Status on the map as well. Then display that map on a View/NOC View -CharlesH Loop1 Systems: SolarWinds Training and Professional Services * LinkedIN: Loop1 Systems * Facebook: Loop1 Systems * Twitter:…

I've come to think - to some degree at least - that there are those who watch and those who innovate. Those who innovate truly know the systems in and out, and are thinking of ways to adjust change and maneuver their process to improve their lifestyle.. for most of us that I know that becomes making it easier, quicker or…

We are far past the days of it's not broken if no one complains. We are proactive now, not reactive. Even with the use of our own systems we have to understand when a new option creates a better working experience, and be willing to adapt.

Indeed, I should be poking into that more next week. I'll let you know how it goes.

You can use Syslogs and Traps to execute a program or external script via the Syslog Viewer or Trap Viewer and setting up rules for alerts/actions. -CharlesH Loop1 Systems: SolarWinds Training and Professional Services * LinkedIN: Loop1 Systems * Facebook: Loop1 Systems * Twitter: @Loop1Systems

Add the node as ping only to make sure your not experiencing any DB or SW application issues. Once the node is in the DB, change to SNMP and the additional columns in that new line of the DB will come into play. If you can not add the node as a ping only, check your SW Logs or open a case.

I think that may be why they built in the search filter features... does an old version ever go EOL / EOS ?

Where exactly are you getting this error message? When trying to assign a poller to a node? - Also what version of NPM are you running? Uupdates to newer versions recently. - This error does come up if you already have a custom poller assigned. You might try scanning the node to test a poller. If it confirms in the test…

You can do this with the GUI Advanced Alert. There is an option for node name/caption 'Begins/Ends with' or 'Contains' -CharlesH Loop1 Systems: SolarWinds Training and Professional Services * LinkedIN: Loop1 Systems * Facebook: Loop1 Systems * Twitter: @Loop1Systems

Your ambiguous error; I believe, is just a pass through of a MS Error. Hence the reason for the ambiguity in the error message. Two things here though, are you setting a test node? And is the tree you are attempting to browse within the scope of the MIB for that test device? If you are not setting the test device, try…

a quick search found this : The Email Engine requires the same password that is supplied on the Connection Settings tab of the AR System Administration: Server Information form.
