If this is really a concern then you may want to look into additional pollers to use, and remove the polling load from your Main Web Server. This will reduce traffic for ensure faster web page loading times. Faster App response when logging to the server to run things like atlas... and most entities of the app are web…

How about mine? or should i make a bmp or jpg to imbed in the post before qualifying...

Build a profile for each so you know what works.. in that profile I would adjust each OS type. NXOS, iOS, CatOS - accordingly so that you will be able to get your downloads. Also make sure you are using your enable option appropriately. Some for me need an enable 0, and if your tacacs is setup to work you should be able to…

That sounds very good. In addition to that you could have your DBA verify waits or locks on those ipam tables, and if they are still happening. If you see it happening still, even at a small degree see if your dba can optimize. If that is not an option increasing logging can show you more details, searching around those…

Try adjusting your current graph to only 7 days of data. Otherwise : Settings - All Settings - under *Thresholds & Polling* - click Polling Settings Setting is 'Detailed Interface Availability Statistics Retention' - BUT be very careful changing this slightly. Any increase will add data to the tables. An adjustment from 7…

The advanced alerts makes that easy, unless you have similar names. It's just a simple flag for your to track in case you forget your setup and need a reference. How many trap rules are you setting up that this is not scalable?

mbird has the right idea here, your policy refresh certainly has potential to hold you back. Beyond that start simple. Can you ping the servers from your Orion Sever? Does a Tracert have any hops not returning details (possible FW, or router)? If you can touch the server from the Orion Desktop, then look closer at the…

So create a new custom property - do not advertise it, but just duplicate your values and use that Custom Property to create the alert with the inclusive - contains.

It appears that stack notifications are done with Traps; there is a way to translate the hex readout to binary via UnDP from the main switch in the stack. ref : https://forums.networkinfrastructure.info/nortel-ethernet-switching/avaya-ers-switchstack-monitoring-through-snmp/ about 1/3rd the way down the page you will find…

I even mulled over the possibility that I might have read that wrong, and when I couldn't figure out how that could be the case I was still hesitant bring that up.. I mean, how could I correct a Super Geek?! But then again I suppose you wear pants and put them on the same way. Or did you forget those today as well? I…

Also having this issue when trying to update or apply credentials on an Application or server that is monitored. I ran the configuration wizard; restarted the Orion Application Pool then removed and generated the certificates and updated all credential sets before trying to update or change credentials on the specific…

Where nodes.Property does not work try nodesdata.Property, I have been frustrated by the same thing before. In modules/places where the node property is the only property of that name (i.e. no same named volume property) you might be able to call that property just by name, without the nodes/nodesdata.property

The reason I enable SNMP on ESX hosts is that I recommend polling for VM from the vCenter. This gives you the entire tree of DataCenters, Stores, Hosts, VMs. If you are polling your virtualized entities at the vCenter then host's and everything else you add want to come in as ICMP. This gives you metrics from the Virtual…

cahunt wrote: you can override the global threshold if you want to adjust per device type. let me specify here, you can edit per device. If you sort by device type, vendor, etc and select all nodes (top check box) then you can mass edit per device type. Though, any new node will have to be adjusted if you do want to use…

Suppression is a tricky tool.... it must be done very carefully and with much consideration. It will squash all the alerts if your are not careful... but in my case with the right attention it can be the tool that allows you to monitor extra interfaces or nodes without having to adjust your alert conditions (so you don't…

at the very least you'll be able to recall some old memories!

Got Dang! Man last time that happened I gave Mgmt 3 pages of how dual and bigger screens would benefit me.. they did, just to shut me up. Then gave everyone else BIGGER monitors.

How did this go, have you any further issues? I would recommend at least 12Gb RAM if not 16..

So a manual set to NULL and rediscover updates this, but a rediscover alone does not? Any other 'symptoms' that you can note? If you looked through any log files, are these nodes showing any entries?

I noticed after checking my events that the last instance of this un manage (for 1 node) that happens every week on Sunday @ 5pm took 8 seconds to complete. 9/21/2014 5:00:08 PM Audit Event Node name removed to protect the less than innocent

Never used it for that many nodes, but I do have a weekly un manage that I have set and forgotten about. Works like a charm! Let me know how this goes please.

What you saw in that view is a report. And Entry is Static at this point; as we have custom properties that cover the Ticket # and Description, that can be updated on each node details page at the bottom. The report just pulls that data from each node if it is present to display that on our NOC page. We have to check them…

I am unable to log our 15454's so I can not fish out the commands. I have to see who controls this box and might be able to setup a template for testing.

Perfect Good Sir! #6 is what I was looking for. In this case I am using a single ping every less than 30 minutes to keep a Tunnel open, it tends to shut if there is no traffic and this at the least should keep it open without any extra load or issues to my servers. It wasn't my idea, but it works - unless someone else has…

You won't have much of an issue if you get the Primary in place first then add the APE. Use the new installer, and it will match the versions - it will be the easiest and quickest for you. If you did have an APE attached you would turn it off - then upgrade it to match the Primary before turning it back up. The new…

Did an in place upgrade, and it was the smoothest, easiest update I think I have ever done. Versions were far enough along that everything was manageable with the new installer, expect the NTA DB update - which just needed that NTA 4.2.3 pack.
-
But what are the settings to get back to that UP Status? What polling interval is kept until node is back UP - and what is the ping sequence and timing to confirm the UP status once that initial UP ping gets a response?
-
These thresholds are either set globally, or for each Node. For global - Settings -> All Settings -> Scroll down to 'Thresholds & Polling' -> Click 'Orion Thresholds' and then you can set thresholds for CPU, RAM, Disk Usage, Response Time and Packet Loss. When you edit the node thresholds will show to add in non global…
