I had a client who bought a custom PC, and their CD's kept disappearing. Somehow they were able to tip the case up enough to slide the CD towards the back of the ROM so when they opened the tray there was no CD.... in the tray - but it was in the player. So another CD goes in, and another one. eventually the CD-ROM jams.…

too many times, and too often it's not in a good way. Even if everyone used the same process it would not be executed in the same way. To that standard the explanation of being able to stay in business is not related to how good you are at what you do, but how much worse your competitor is. It's a far cry from perfection…

I would expect the refresh useful to tell you the status though the same, has been recently updated for your viewing pleasure.

We have had to deal with small OS volumes. This of course once setup always gets full. NCM Server at the moment is being adjusted, but before I can have the volumes adjusted I have to migrate my data to a temporary volume. - server has all physicals. I had been trying to tell our server folks for months that this is going…

I'm not expecting to see FX pick up the new proposed show, Cloud Wars : DB Destruction! but it would be interesting to see different cloud providers put to the test.

So your poller then communicated to your normal network Orion web server? - Or another poller/web engine license stand alone entity that isn't at all connected to your production environment?

I'd rather just remember the journey than rehash every bit of it to someone that will need an explanation about why the Queen's Heart's are being painted - right after I tell them about the rant over White Roses. - If they can follow me that far, usually they are on the same side of the table.

indeed, that would be magical!

I say I agree, some of their newer hardware has MIBs that are more complex than previous, making it a little difficult to highlight certain needed hardware devices, or module status / details. They would prefer you to purchase Cisco Works as well to manage all of this. SW is making strides against this with the newer…

What a shame... if they would have only asked for your thoughts and usage details before replacing they would have been able to adequately scope your caffeine needs. Poor project planning there. Bad Bump!

I did that yesterday... then had to re-read it a few times before the coffee kicked in.

Having the right tools is vital and allows the proper cultivation of monitoring, condition setting and alerting. Without the proper alerting you may be left to just review your logs and traps. I find it easy to miss a visual notification/flashing red if I have my nose already investigation or researching another situation.…

I'm sure whoever did that doesn't have a wife, and may never.

Nexus Device Tables . UnDP Note that the Serial# and Description are from the Cisco Set : 1.3.6.1.2.1.47.1.1. - I use this set for just about any Serial and or Description information from Cisco devices.

Mute buttons are the best! I used to use it actively on a call - and freak the other analysts out around me. I would end my calls surrounded by shocked stares of the Prairie Dogs peeking over their cubes.

Having a solution is a lot easier than trying to remediate your duplications. Also the documentation is your resource to know that you are using all available resources and not over provisioning on either side of the fence.

wow. even backed up to Excel. That is tedious!

How do you even know which question was wrong? I suppose I should have read that darn page 8 times instead of 7.

GO Leela!

I've been thinking about setting up a small email system at the house to try an Exchange replacement. On that side note - One of my favorite reports is my alert to email report with the details of successful or failed delivery. It always explains why someone did not get an alert.
