Orion has a single MIB database file that is maintained by SolarWinds. If you have MIB's that are not already included you need to send it to SolarWinds and they will add it to the file and publish an updated version.

Any other thoughts on this?

I'm just curious if the Solarwinds NPM/APM/etc products can use Oracle as a datastore instead of MS SQL Server? No, currently Oracle is not a supported database for Orion. MS SQL Server is the only supported database at this time.

Well, I have solved #1 as well. It would seem that at times my system is loosing connection to it's database. When this happens active alerts stop working correctly and require the Alerting Engine to be restarted in order to resume normal function.

Ok, I answered #2 for myself, one was for the component and one was for the applicaiton. That still leaves me wondering about #1.

I confirmed with support that this is not currently possible. There is a feature request for this HERE that I voted for.

I think it's looking at the Keepalive column in the Engines table in the database.

My understanding with recent liscensing changs is that all you should need is an SLX Additional Polling Engine. However, I would verify the accuracy of this with SolarWinds. As far as NCM is concerned, it does it's own thing and doesn't have any relationship to an additional poller as far as I am aware.

There are potentially two ways to do this: If the Unix systems have an snmp agent that reports this information you can collect, sore and report on it using the Universal Device Poller. Your other option would be to use the Orion APM and run a script against the system that collects that information as a statistic for you.

NTA is for Netflow which is very useful but I don't think its what you are looking for. Orion NPM is the tool that we use to monitor our bandwidth capacity. Going to have to agree with Don on this one. I have posted this problem here as well and would love to see a solution. I am not sure if and how other NMS systems handle this, what I do know is that the last NMS we were using also had this problem.

In my experience this volume of logs will likely cause problems for your Orion system. It has less to do with your pollers and more to do with your database, it basically overwhelms the database.
