I don't believe this is an option if you are using accounts within LEM; however, you can connect LEM to Active Directory and then you have the account expiration control via Active Directory. Then for the built-in LEM accounts you can have a compensating control by using LEM to monitor and alert on the usage of those…

The way the report scheduler works is it basically goes out and "snapshots" a webpage and sends that out. The cool thing about this is that you can use any webpage that your Orion system has access to so it doesn't need to be an "official" report. Hope this helps!

I would strongly recommend you don't try and use the Orion syslog functionality for any form of log management; it's only designed for log alerting and if you try and do anything compliance related with it you are going to run into problems. If you want something to satisfy compliance requirements that is fast and…

We use NetApp as well so having a tool/connector for that would be awesome!

For this you would use an Advanced Alert, below is a screenshot of how my volume space alert is configured. You will need to modify this for your own needs and you likely won't need all of the conditions that I am using. Hope this helps!

While I can't really help you with this problem, it actually seems like a really good feature request for the product to be able to do this out of the box.

Since both of these are UDP you may need to write a script that checks them in a way that is appropriate for you, you can also check the community provided content to see if somebody has already written something.

Sending the Event Logs to the Orion syslog facility and setting up an alert to look for the key words using regular expression is working out well for us. SolarWinds makes an Event Log forwarder and there are others out there as well. Also, as a bonus; having all of your Event Logs in a central repository can be nice for…

This shouldn't be a problem. You will just need to call SolarWinds and speak to their licensing team and they will free up the licenses for you in the portal and then you can re-apply them to the new systems.

I am still struggling with this and would love to receive some feedback, thanks!
-
kris_mortensen, I would love for you to post back here and let me know what kind of performance you are able to get out of your LEM system with that many systems logging to it.
-
I am also seeing this, any ideas on what is causing it?
-
Yes, you should be able to use the Orion APM to accomplish this as this is exactly the type of thing it was designed for. Basically you need to model your application and determine all of the components that need to be tested that will validate that it is in a working state. Once you have done this you can create an…

It sounds to me like you are talking about the concept of Roles. You setup a role which is basically as set of permissions or like a template. You then assign different users to the appropriate roles. I agree, this is definitely needed. Personally a bit of an overhaul is needed for the account management system including…

We are not currently using IPv6; however, within the next 6 months it is expected that we will start a project to begin supporting/using it.

This can only be accomplished by directly modifying the table in the database. There is a CLIENT table in the database and one of the columns is called DELETED. You will need to find the row that represents the client record that you wish to restore and change the number in the DELETED column from a 1 to a 0.

When you look at in the Windows Task Scheduler at the job that you have setup, is it set to "run only when the user is logged in"? That is a problem that I am having.

Netlogix This is totally awesome and I totally want it. I knew that this type of stuff was supposed to be coming to APM 5 but I don't know what SAM is?

I don't believe there is a way to integrate the modules with them all installed on different systems. Like HolyGuacamole asked; what is the concern or limitation with having them all on a single server? With the specific modules you mentioned you shouldn't see any huge resource conflicts unless you are doing a ton of…

Have you tried using the Fortinet connector(s)?
-
Yes, this data should be available on a virtual machine in the same way that it's available on a physical system. If you go to the node in Orion and click on List Resources you should see the volumes available for monitoring. If you don't see them available then you may want to make sure SNMP is running properly on the…

The best OID to use for this is probably as follows... OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.10.1.5 Name: laLoadInt Description: The 1 , 5 and 10 minute load averages as an integer. This is computed by taking the floating point loadaverage value and multiplying by 100 , then converting the value to an integer.
-
Yes, this is possible. You will need to use the UnDP (Universal Device Poller) to setup a custom SNMP poller that will collect data from the appropriate OID's on your Linux systems. You can then display that information at the node level view. After you have done this when ever you setup a new Linux system all you will…

When you pull up the graph that you use to export the data to Excel do you have the Sample Interval set to 1 minute?

I would highly recommend ignoring the fact that basic alerts exist and focus on only Advanced Alerts. The advanced alerts are much more powerful and it's easier to manage if you don't have some alerts in once place and some in another place.

As an update on this. I have talked to three different support folks at SolarWinds and have received 3 different answers on this, none of which have worked. One of my issues on it was even supposedly escalated up to get a more accurate response. I still don't have a working implementation due to the lack of detail on the…

I just spoke with SW Support and the only port that seem absolutely necessary are as follows... Addt'l Poller <--> TCP 17777 Addt'l Poller --> TCP 1433 I will be starting with these and will open up others if I run into problems and of course will be sure to post back here and let everybody know.

If you have Orion connected to your vCenter server you should be able to see the Cluster level utilization. Go to the Virtualization tab, in your VMWare Assets resource expand out your vCenter server, then expand out the Datacenter and under that you should see the clusters as defined in your vCenter server, click on the…

Ugg, last time this happened things went downhill. They were all about acquiring/creating as many different products as possible and trying to sell them to you with little regard for the quality and integrity of their products. I was so happy when they went private and started to care about their products again.
-
I called and talked with support today and they confirmed that this is not possible.
