Sweet, this is the best news I have had all day! I will give her a try as soon as I can!

Oh, don't get me wrong I WANT SAM 6.0, I just don't like to update multiple things in a single maintenance window. I was going to do one and then the other a week later. I had a feeling that they would both need to be updated though due to the changes in Core. So is the process still the same in that I should update in the…

We are polling through vCenter.

I would also like to extend my many thanks to those involved in implementing the ability to bulk edit user accounts. This just saved me several hours of work and I am sure it will continue to do so going forward!

Thanks for that info; however, I was asking to find out if any such feature existed in the WebHelpDesk product as is common with other ticketing systems.
-
Yeah, I understand that bit; however, I have alerts triggering that are not showing up in there.
-
I took a look at how that Report works and it looks like it requires the Alert to log out to the Events as part of the Trigger Action, is that the case? I ran the report and several of my Alerts are not captured.

If I remember correctly, I believe it's the SolarWinds Job Scheduler service. If that service is stopping and starting, take a look at this Thwack thread for a possible cause: Hope this helps. Kweise This post was also very helpful, thanks!

Thanks Brandon, this is what I was looking for!
-
Awesome, thanks for the response curtisi!

It not only works well (Firefox in my case), it runs faster than the ones I have installed here. If there are any types of tweaks that you have done to improve the speed of this thing that could get rolled out into the production version that would be awesome!

Also, it's possible that your Cacti system is looking at a different OID or set of OID's than Orion is. I know that with SNMP there are several different ways to get Hard Drive space and each one will give slightly different results. As I said before, I am pretty sure Orion is not doing any manipulation of the data, just…

hkor Which virtualization solution are you using? VMWare, Hyper-V, or something else?
-
It sounds to me that you may be in the process of evaluating NMS systems, if this is the case the best advice I can give you (after having just done the same thing) is evaluate several solutions from different providers so that you can see how they all compare and select the one that works best for you. We have found Orion…

hkor First to address the incorrect volume size problem. I am guessing that this device uses NetSNMP and if that is the case this is a reported bug with NetSNMP reporting the information incorrectly, Orion is just getting it's information from there. I am well aware of this problem because the people that make OpenNMS…

I am talking about disabling TLS 1.0 and 1.1 on my Orion website.

Yeah, I hear ya. For those unmatched events, if it's a supported device you can export a report and send it to SolarWinds and they will upgrade the connector for it; I have done that several times with the Fortinet connector. It just seems that LEM has so much potential in playing a significant role as part of an IDS/IPS…

kellytice Thanks; unfortunately I am not seeing the Problems tab in the upper right like you are. Is that only available in the most current version?
-
cdh hit the nail on the head, the problem is giving RDP access to people. For security porposes we have to restrict how many people have RDP access to our servers. Having as much functionality available via the WebUI is most desirable with the assumption that there are permission controls available for it. As a second…

This seems like it must be a bug.

I don't suppose a Hot Standby module for the APM is currently in the works?
-
Very good post but I think I have even more questions now. I just sent you an email offline.
-
aLTeReGo I wanted to let you know that I opened a support case on this and was informed that for agents using the Agent Initiated communication model that you can't change the polling engine via the web console, they need to be manually changed on the node. I was not satisfied with this answer so the support guy (who was…

Well, it certainly seems to be working now. I guess I will chalk it up to those darn web gremlins.

The main Orion poller can definitely connect to all of the APE's on TCP Port 17777. The APE I was moving the node from can communicate to the main poller on TCP Port 17777. The APE that I was moving the node to can also communicate to the main poller on TCP Port 17777; however, it does so over a NAT IP. If this were…

Yeah, after thinking about how that works it started to make sense to me why I would see more writes than reads, initially it's just very counter intuitive.
-
kellytice awesome, thanks so much for the information, this is super helpful!
-
I actually just took a look at my database when I saw this ticket and it looks like with the new custom property functionality, this information is also getting stored differently in the database which could be the cause of this problem.
-
Perfect, this is what I was hoping for!

The advice given is correct for larger installations, which is usually where the DR failover requirement exists anyway and lower powered SQL Servers. The nature of the data being collected and stored by Orion places a heavy I/O load on the SQL Server. Having logging set to Full Recovery only increases this load, and quite…
