curtisi I tried the process in the video and it didn't seem to work. Has this been tested in the most recent version and been confirmed to work properly?

Thanks for the response. This will be a great help when I am creating new UDG's!
-
So, as best I can tell this status code is NOT stored historically, is that correct?
-
Thanks laytongd! I have created the feature request HERE as you have suggested.

Hrm, interesting, I had no idea there would be a price associated with the sensors! This may be a first for SW; having to pay for a sub-component of a product? While I am not necessarily against the additional cost (of course I would prefer to not pay extra for it) it certainly introduces extra complexity in the pricing…

If I did that wouldn't it stop any alerts from getting triggered if #5 was true? If so, that would be bad because I still need to know about others.

So, fast forward to 2009 and Orion v9.5 sp3... It looks like you need to stop services on the polling systems in order to move nodes from one to another, is this true? Also, it would be very cool if I could move nodes from one poller to another via the managing nodes section of the web interface without shutting down…

I see a bunch of nodes in the VIM_VirtualMachines table that don't have NodeID's associated with them. It seems like this will cause a problem?

I am going to have to second the Sam's Teach Yourself SQL in 10 Minutes as well as Sam's SQL Server 2008 Management and Administration.

Often we have nodes (more often Windows than anything else) that will stop responding to SNMP polls. This seems to happen to a small handful of nodes after each patching window for reasons that we can't explain. Our current NMS will let us know when these data collections have failed. I would like to have the same sort of…

Ok, I see what you mean with the inventory reports as I just got that working. By manage I was refering to some of the capabilities it has with the network device such as running scripts and backing up files/configurations. I think Chris in his post answerd my question in that the inventory stuff is about as much as I am…

Thanks for the feedback, unfortunately none of these things will work for what I need. Using specific maps is out because of the security bug that currently exists with maps. There aren't any specific end-user account configurations that will group nodes together to act as one for availability. These configurations also…

Thanks for this info, I also found that people with node management rights also have the ability to use the network sonar.
-
Hrm, I actually thought about this a while back and proposed it to some folks here. I feel silly for not thinking about it when I posted this request. With that being said, I still think there should be a distributed architecture all within the LEM product.
-
Ah, this was the correct answer, I was just modifying this in the wrong place. On the server you need to make sure the path is fully specified which it doesn't seem to do by default.
-
I haven't yet called support about this as we are only evaluating the software so I wasn't sure if that would be appropriate. I was really hoping somebody would have an answer here in the forums.
-
Thanks but no matter how I try and browse to it I am still seeing this problem.
-
Perfect, that is exactly what I was looking for. I just wanted to make sure that when I upgrade an appliance I don't also need to upgrade the connectors as a 2nd step. For the sake of what I am planning to do, it's all done in the single step of upgrading the appliance.

kellytice thanks for the help on this. I checked the setting you suggest and I don't have anything checked. What I am seeing happen is that it seems to be remembering my specific settings on each ticket. For example, I had set the Client as a recipient in a ticket, leave that ticket and to into a different ticket and then…

We are on an active maintenance contract so I will be sure to watch for the RC. 3% to 98% seems more than just a bit inflated, does it currently take multiple CPU's into consideration?
-
Thanks Casey, I really appreciate the followup on this!
-
I am still running on 9.5. I would love to upgrade to 10 but I have some system crippling issues that are plaguing my system that I am trying to solve with SW Support. Maybe someday!

For those of you are that are running your polling engines on VM's in VMWare, are you using any automated snapshot utilities such as SnapManager for NetApp or the VMWare vDR?
-
Just curious - Do each of you also have Netflow Traffic Analyzer on your 'VMware' polling engine? Plus are you doing - SYSLOG and SNMP TRAPS - on that same server? I'm having to justify (for budgeting) new 'physical' servers mostly because of NTA, one server with high performance disks with Raid 1-0 but management wants to…
-
You are correct, this is for SNMP nodes which is how we monitor just about everything currently.
-
Awesome information, thanks for the response!

Unfortunately I have seen this same problem. For years now SolarWinds has had great support so it's really unfortunate to see that falling apart as of recent.
-
So it looks like the issue I noted HERE hasn't been addressed?
-
Okay, that is what I suspected but wanted to be sure. Also thanks for the prompt response. Having the SNMP proxy functionality as an option would be kind of nifty if it's ever something you guys would consider. Not just SNMP for that matter but having the option to have NPM be a proxy for all of the stuff the Toolset does…

Thanks Brandon. I do make use of the auto-hide functionality and it works great. In my specific use-case I often have people setting up nodes that don't know which pollers will respond and which ones won't. I would rather not have a poller assigned to nodes if it isn't responding.
