  • The performance here is really a concern. When you consider my deployment isn't even considered that large based on what LEM is supposedly capable of and also by what the SolarWinds support folks have told me. However, if I am having problems with searches with my relatively small deployment what should I expect with an…
  • Well, it's not completing so I can't say how large the result set is. I know the appliance takes in about 7 million events per day and my last failed search was for a 48 hour period of time so it would be searching roughly 14 million events. In the specific case that came up today I am searching events from mid-end of…
  • ecklerwr1 I was never able to get LEM to properly support our NetApp's. You might check with SW support and see if that is something they can do. The LEM support team has always been great to work with and very knowledgeable on the product.
  • sneakernet Great explanation! This covers everything I remember about the details we were provided by Nimsoft and more. One of the reasons we had originally looked at Nimsoft was due to the native multi-tenant support as I agree that Orion is not a true multi-tenant solution; however, we do use it as such. This has been a…
  • Leon Adato while I agree that having an Agent certainly adds some overhead, in my experience with the agent based solutions it's less the agent that causes the additional overhead and more just the way those specific products are designed in general in that they are huge and incredibly (and unnecessarily) complex products.…
  • Just use useragent switcher addons and configure user agent string for firefox 3. Jean-Pascal That is a work around which isn't really what I am looking for. My issue is that the patch notes indicate that this issue has been resolved yet after applying the patches I am still experiencing this issue. After opening support…
  • LOL, thanks Marie, I look forward to hearing where your quest takes you! = )
  • Hi Byron-- We currently don't support Firefox 4. Here is a workaround: HTH, M Marie Here is a copy of the release notes from NPM 10.1.2 SP1, please see the line highlighted in bold that suggests it fixes a problem that I am still experiencing after applying this upgrade... SolarWinds Orion Network Performance Monitor…
  • I have gone through this entire trouble shooing process before with the cookies and the plugins, none of that resolved the issue. I don’t have any of these problems with any other sites and I didn’t have these problems with the previous Thwack forums; all of this suggests that the problem is related specifically to the…
  • Also, I noticed when searching for Volumes for example there doesn't appear to be a good way to search for the volume based on the name of the server that the volume is associated with.
  • Thanks aLTeReGo, I just found the drop down that I had been missing; it looks like it's all there. I assume the UnDP's are on the ToDo list for a future release?
  • Depending on what level you wanted the HA at, you could also use SQL and VMWare replication; this obviously wouldn't help you at the application level though.
  • Thanks for the response; that confirms what I believed to be true. I guess I am curious what the value proposition of FoE is then?
  • It sounds like the 8k - 10k elements is still one of the best data points to use when figuring capacity for NPM; the polling engines page does a great job of showing you this number. Next question is how to factor SAM into the picture; I don't know how to figure how many component monitors I have on each poller and/or what…
  • Thanks for taking the time to respond with that much detail; for better or worse that was my understanding as well. I would absolutely love to see the dashboard you have created if it's something you can and are willing to share. P.S. With that many pollers I really feel bad for you when Orion upgrades are necessary.
  • Not sure how much this helps but if you are using a Custom Poller that is collecting a Serial Number that value is likely getting stored in the CustomPollerStatus table in the Status column.
  • I was afraid that this would be the case and it wouldn't work well, if at all. Normally Virtual Appliances are very WYSIWYG for better or worse.
  • Well, since it's a virtual appliance wasn't sure if I would have root access to be able to add interfaces and static routes. Also, I wasn't sure if the application and services were hard coded to only listed to the primary interface.
  • Thanks and that is the unfortunate answer I was expecting. I like that it's a soft delete but then I don't see any reason why they wouldn't allow you to select a check box in the advanced searches that would allow you to see and search based on things that have been deleted. I can certainly see use cases where you would…
  • I have added a buch more Linux systems to Orion and many of them seem to have this problem. Please let me know exactly what I need to look for on nodes for this to work; OID(s), net-snmp version, etc. and I will see what I can find. Thanks!
  • Which OID(s) do you poll to get that information? I have several other boxes that are supposedly configured exactly the same and they are working just fine. I would like to go manually verify if the OID(s) are working or not.
  • Firstly I want to say that I am glad to hear you are working on putting together more and better documentation. After posting this I did check out the LEM Filters & Alerts Technical Reference and thought it was very helpful, keep this kind of product documentation coming! Getting syslog to show up in the LEM consoleIf I…
  • Of course, I am always happy to work with SolarWinds to further the products towards my cause!
  • If you need somebody to review mock-ups and provide feedback on the changes you have planned for alerting please let me know.
  • Thanks for the considerations Mav! I am aware of the Alert Management solution you guys are working on. I was able to provide some early feedback based on some mock-ups that I was presented; I am really looking forward to seeing that finished product.
  • The alerts are exactly as I have stated them above. Blow are screenshots, I had to clean them up because I have other criteria specified in our actual alerts that are specific for our environment. Default Volume Alert Custom Volume Alert
  • No one, huh? Everyone is already an expert scripter? I don't know crap about scripting so you certainly don't want a recommendation from me. A scripting recommendation from me would be like a good food recommendation from a skinny person. = )
  • Yeah, I am aware that the Engineers Toolset will provide that. However, the problem is that the polling in that case is done by the Engineers Toolset, it doesn't use the NMS system as a proxy. We currently have our systems locked down for security purposes in such a way that only the NMS systems are allowed to poll them.…
  • Awesome, I will certainly give it a look and see if we can adapt it. If I get something working I will post it to the Content Exchange.
  • Thanks for the response! In my particular use case I was looking for a way to integrate Orion reports with a different system that provides a customer portal. I was going to leverage the API to pull bandwidth reports from Orion into that customers portal. The report scheduler will be a less integrated approach but it was…
