Yes, that is what I had intended to say, sorry I missed a line there.

I wrote a suggestion a while back in a thread that suggests an "Alarms" dashboard. This would be like the events but would allow you to specify anything that appears there. For all of the alerting facilities (Traps, Syslog, Advanced Alets, etc) you would have an option to create an "Alarm" in the alarm dashboard and it…

I have received conflicting information on that. I had one SW support person tell me that the Linux agents should auto-update while another support person tell me that they do not. If they in fact do not, this is a huge issue for us as many of the systems we manage with LEM are Linux systems.

Via an alert. Our system Node warning level is currently set to 180 seconds. ICMP Timeout is 2500ms and SNMP Timeout is 2500ms Ok, the alert is likely not configured properly. Can you please post a screenshot of the alert trigger conditions and and indicate what exactly you want the alert to do, then I can try and help.

This would be a nice feature. Also, as I have mentioned before having a drop down option: the ability to pre-define a list of options that are then selected from a drop-down. This would reduce my concern about people mis-typing something resulting in no alerts on an issue.

Alerts need to be setup and managed through the server console using the Advanced Alert Manager application. Alert management is not currently available through the web.

A sizing guide would be most awesome!

Our system is a VMWare virtual appliance and has the out-of-box configuration with 8GB of RAM and 2 vCPU's. We aren't running near any potential capacity issues now. I am looking for the EPS at both a burst capacity and a sustained capacity for architectural decisions going forward. As a service provider we are building…

looks like I edit the graph details on each node in system manager, but I don't see how to do it for all of them. there are so many nodes and so many settings it would take forever to go to each graph on each node and customize each setting. I am not sure what version you are using; however, I will point out that…

I would be interested to know what that open source tool is. Another thought is to use the IPSLA protocol to do HTTP checks. Sent from my iPhone

I would like to get an update on this problem if possible.

I suspected that the integrated stand-alone deployment was no longer necessary. I would like to move to an integrated deployment where NCM is installed on the same server as my NPM primary. Is there a documented migration plan for this?
-
Also, if you haven't already checked; you might want to make sure that system has the most up-to-date net-snmp agent running on it.

Well, to answer my own question, it would seem that disbling UAC was necessary.

I agree that there is a lot of room for improvement when it comes to Orion and Reports. I am about 99% certain that this is on the list of things that SolarWinds plans to improve. In the mean time, what specific type of report are you looking to create that you are unable to do now?
-
I would agree, its slightly better. I still get the immediate call with a slew of follow-up emails. While the shift to more email versus calls is certainly less annoying, it's still annoying.

We are an MSP so this is also a huge frustration for me. I think 's idea is great! As far as sales people for specific regions are concerned, it seems like every time I get called it's by a different sales person. This makes me think that either the sales folks for each region change very frequently or you have sales folks…

Awesome, thanks for the info. I am very excited about having the functionality moved to the web console so I am glad to see good progress is being made here.

Thank you.. I am in the process of trying to monitor web sites (our company has not done this yet) and I am bumping my head all over the place.. so any help is a good thing.. If you have specific questions about getting URL/Website monitoring working, feel free to post them here in Thwack. URL monitoring is one of the…

Unfortunately this doesn’t explain it. The last person that responded on that thread indicated that they had done the same thing that I have done by enabling NTA to monitor all ports yet still receiving unmonitored traffic. Thoughts?

dclick We don't have the IPSLA module as it wasn't available at the time we started working with IPSLA. We monitor an extensive network with using the IPSLA protocol. I have written a bunch of UnDP's to collect the data and display it in graphs in Orion; some of these data-points include UDP Jitter, MOS, RTT, and Packet…

I guess I don't completely understand how you are trying to present this bandwidth/cpu/memory usage. It sounds like you have a geographically distributed network with a least one circuit to each site and that you are trying to understand your bandwidth usage for the circuit at each of those sites? Also it sounds like you…

Yes, curtisi in your defense, you did warn about this and Nicole had pointed this out to me much earlier on as well. With that being said this is one of the unfortunate limitations of LEM that is keeping it from being as robust of a SIEM as many of the competing solutions in the market. We just went though the process of…

familyofcrowes while in the little testing I did, I can't say how this impacted CPU or memory; however, I did find that by enabling this it uses a PostgreSQL database on LEM which is different from the database that the rest of the log data in LEM goes into. I found this out because it really threw off one of the support…

Sweet, thanks Marie! My managers would absolutely love the reports that this feature would allow me to generate.

In addition this would be a great place for me to install eval licensed stuff that I want to test. Right now testing the Eval stuff is almost not an option for me because it's bad form to install eval software on top of our production environment. My only other option becomes installing a whole eval environment (NPM) just…

Yes, Grouping !!!! That's needed as well. Absolutely agree! This would be a good simple first step toward better alert management.

Have you verified that the problematic devices are actually returning values? When you are setting up the UnDP you have an option to test it against the devices you are going to assign it to.
-
I can't say for sure what is coming and what isn't. The problem is how views are configured. For each user you select a node details view, typically you would select the node details view "By Device Type". When you have "By Device Type" selected Orion will refer to your settings in the Views by Device Type section of the…

So, here are my thoughts on it... I agree that it can be intimidating, it was for me. I think LEM customers do need to know about it; when I was using LEM before knowing about it I felt like I was being pushed around by this invisible force and it was incredibly frustrating. Understanding how a product works is always key…
