  • I have had similar problems with no good explanation, I have a thread here in Thwack regarding that. All I can say is that my fingers are crossed that the next version is much better, from the sounds of things it should be.
  • Which specific component is experiencing problems and what is the specific reason the component is claiming for the error? If you go to the component there should be a litle orange box that you can hover over to get the failure details.
  • I am receiving these errors in my Eventlog, however; my neither my Syslog or Trap table is very big. What else will cause these errors?
  • Yes, we see exactly the same on our system. '[Unknown]' are devices that are only ICMP monitored and hence have no SNMP data whereas 'Unknown' are SNMP monitored but do not have a corresponding entry in the sysobjectid database. In my case none of them are SNMP monitored.
  • So does the Hot Standby not work for you because you are using APM or is it because you have to shut things off in order to work on SQL? If it's because of SQL, it seems having a SQL Cluster environment of some form should solve that?
  • ur the man byron :} LOL, thanks. Even a blind squirrel finds an occasional nut! I actually completely stumbled on this functionality and thought "holy crap, this is awesome"!
  • Yes, I am almost certain that you need to have the node managed by Orion if you want to see the Syslog messages that Orion is receiving from it. If you don't really want to monitor it you can always add it as an external node, that way it will be in Orion but not get monitored.
  • I agree, that would be nice. Unfortunately I think that is less of a SolarWinds problem and more of a Windows problem in that it doesn't natively provide that info via SNMP.
  • I didn't mean to suggest that using the OID is a problem, it shouldn't be. I would start by simplifying the alert to be just the basic conditions necessary to trigger, in this case I think that would be the OID & Trigger Threshold of the value. See if that works. My thinking is by looking for two different OID's as part of…
  • If the link to the report is always the same you can just use Windows Scheduler to send an email at a specified interval. If you are running Exchange you can set up a reminder email to go out at a specified interval.
  • That would work but there are two many devices. Also devices beinging installed and removed present a system management issue. It would also be nice to carry a solution to syslog messages as well. I've run into this issue in several situations. I understand your situation as I have also run into this situation. As a…
  • Awesome, thanks michal.hrncirik!
  • Thanks for the follow-up. Is the memory lead the same reason I am seeing significant performance problems when I try to do filtering through the WebUI?
  • SAM is the Server and Applicaiton Monitor and it's an additional cost application that is part of the Orion suite of products. It is for Servers and Applications what NPM is for Netowrk gear. For the custom scripting you are talking about you will need SAM. You can get a 30 day evaluation off the SolarWinds site HERE.
  • I have basically done all of those things. NPM shows no packet loss dropped/discards on any of the interfaces. A continuous ping (while I realize this is not what NetPath does it's still a valid test) also shows no packet loss. Also, with packet loss as high as is being indicated the application wouldn't work and it's…
  • snmpTrapEnterrpise is equal to COMPAQ-ID-REC-MIB:compaq and snmpTrapOID is not equal to cpqSeUSBSorageDeviceAttached and snmpTrapOID is not equal to cpqSeUSBStorageDeviceRemoved Well, for some reason this isn't working. The logic seems sound yet I just got an alert that was triggered off this logic. I am baffled.
  • Thanks for pointing this out, I had not noticed that option!
  • I agree, having it in the ZIP makes a lot more sense than in an EXE that you don't want to run until you know what it's going to do. So, I am giddy with anticipation... what was the HotFix for?
  • Ok, I think I have a solution for you and I just tested it myslef so it should work. Open your Excel spreadsheet and then save it as a web page. Open the web page file with your browser and then view the page source; copy that into a Custom HTML resource in Orion. Now you should have it! Let me know if this works for you…
  • Thanks Francois, I appreciate you getting back to me on this. Unfortunately I was hoping for some better news on this front.
  • Okay I am confused. I am running the exchange 2007 monitor and there are at least 34 underneath that one that we are using. So you are telling me that our licensing are based off of each individual monitor? If so I was misled with the Sales department. I thought it was based off of nodes. I love Solarwinds but man this is…

  • Message Center is part of Orion and should be on the default menu bar.

  • Unfortunately I don't know of a good way to do this. I vaguely recall other threads attempting to do similar things but to no avail. I personally think that having the ability to alert on a delta would be a really awesome feature, one that would set Orion apart from a lot of other products in this space. If I get a chance…
  • What version of SAM are you running? Hyper-V is only supported in the most recent version v5.2.0.
  • I now have to crack this nut as well. Often we have to move nodes to new IP's but want to preserve all of the data we have on that node. It sounds like there really isn't any good way to do this, is that correct?
  • That is my understanding as well, for bulk changes they would need Node Management rights.
  • Yeah, what said. If you are going to be using the SolarWinds web server module, that doesn't support SNMP/Syslog so you will have to move that to one of your polling engines; however, if the system still runs the Orion polling package then you can keep the SNMP/Syslog services on that system.
  • I have experienced similarly odd behavior where it will collect topology data from one switch but not others as well. It's possible that this switch is the only one that is providing it information via the MIB's that it uses to collect the topology data.
  • Unfortunately nothing is going into an unknown state; I have alerts for that. The problem is everything looks absolutely normal except I am not getting any performance data.
  • I was hoping something within orion could accomplish this....for PCI we need to be able to track changes in our log server which is orion.... Our company has been moving forward with audits and certifications as well making this type of information very important. It would be really nice if SolarWinds could implement this,…
