Yes, I am using the Web Server Engine from SolarWinds. You will need that for it to work properly. I also have a re-direct in place so that all connections are HTTPS.
-
Thanks, that is along the lines of what I was expecting. I am curious though, my understanding is that if you need to use one of those backups; when you restore it you will replace your current database with the backup, is that correct?
-
From this it looks like it is suggesting that this is normal behavior for all of net-snmp; however, we use net-snmp here without any issue. I wonder if this is new?

Awesome, thanks for the info aLTeReGo!
-
mandevil thanks for the pointers, I really appreciate it!
-
Thanks Nicole!

wluther It's bitter sweet because I love Orion, SolarWinds and the community. With that being said I am very passionate about security and have the opportunity to work with and learn a bunch of new toys tools that are also very awesome. It really is a career opportunity that I coudln't pass up.

Thanks so much for the help, I really appreciate the info!

When you close the browser nothing stops and nothing is changed.

Based on the screenshots from the Manage Engine product that I linked to above it would seem they have a solid way of handling AS400 monitoring so it doesn't seem a stretch of the imagination that SolarWinds could do this as well.
-
Yeah, unfortunately the way SolarWinds handles traps is not very useful. I would really like to see a SAM template that could collect the important statistics from an AS400.
-
While I appreciate your suggestion, this doesn't allow the true multi-tenancy functionality I am looking for. We are poised to sell a ton of monitoring services using Orion thus requiring us to purchase more product from SolarWinds. We just re-launched our website which contains an entirely new service catalog and one of…

I have a problem that seems similiar and possibly related. When I look at my Polling Engine page I see the following status... Engine Status Polling Engine Down However, everything seems to be running fine and I am getting a Last Database Sync update as I would expect. Thoughts?

Here is a link where SW notes some of the stuff they ware working on much of which is Syslog and Trap related...

aLTeReGo I am having a heck of a time getting this to work. I am testing using the "Total Mailboxes" component in the "Exchange 2010 Statistics with PowerShell" template. I am using Local Execution mode and am telling it to use "inherit windows credentials from node" on an Exchange Sever that has an agent successfully…

Awesome, thanks aLTeReGo!
-
Ok, so a follow-up question... if I save over one of the default layouts, how do I restore the original?
-
That is a really good suggestion, I will definitely give that a try as well, thanks!
-
I was referring to the fact that XMPP is not an out-of-the-box option with Orion as it is with my current system that I am replacing. I realize that this is possible using a scripted solution. Through the use of scripts and external programs one could feasibly argue that anything is possible.
-
OK that worked as suggested. Thank you. Glad I could help!

So, with regard to the Kiwi Log Viewer, it looks like there is a free version as well as a more fully featured paid for option? It seems like Log Viewer capabilities should by default come with the Syslog Server as that is one of the essential components of a Syslog Server. I realize that it has the Web Access but that is…

Awesome, thanks for the follow-up!
-
Thanks Allision, I have opened a ticket and will wait for a response.
-
Glad it worked out for you!
-
Can you please let the rest of us struggling folks out here know where you found these resources? If you do we will hail you and treat you as our king! = )
-
Oh, I didn't mean to cause confusion, you original assumption was correct, I am talking about the Primary Polling Engine. I just wanted to confirm that when I went through the process you originally laid out that the nodes that were monitored by the Primary Engine would be migrated over to the new Primary Engine.
-
If it was a problem du jour type thing, we could probably seed it with something new we discovered this week, like "hey, this week we heard the Target breach was because someone had infiltrated their POS network and was copying data off - how would you have detected this?" And maybe we'd get some rule examples or source…

mbird I as well as others have had that conversation with Product Managers at SolarWinds and I wouldn't be surprised if the name were to change in the future.

This is what I have done. I have a node field called "Grp". I created a limitation based on this node field. Based on the user or the view I can apply this limitation... by checking on groups they can access. If the limitation is based on the user... no view is needed to be messed with because the limit is carried by the…

There is definitely some misunderstanding. Both the NCM integration module and the NCM standalone website talk to the NCM server in the EXACT same way. They both use the SolarWinds Information Service (SWIS) on the NCM Server to broker information back from the database. Chris, I believe you, however; this is not how it…
