In order to acknowledge alerts the user needs to have the proper permissions assigned to them. If permissions are set properly a user should have the ability to acknowledge alerts in the Alerts which is located on he default menu bar.

Is exporting the data to an Excel Spreadsheet with Report Writer and then importing via the Custom Properties manager in the WebUI not an acceptable use case? According to the Custom Properties manager in the WebUI it accepts .xls files. I only used the Report Writer for my export as it allows me to be more specific about…

In the import wizard I just don't see an option for InterfaceID.
-
Yeah, sounds like you are seeing my issue. I think the solution I have come up with is to append the the ClientID to the location such as <clientid>-<location name>.
-
Thanks, I really appreciate your response and the level of detail that you have provided!

Great information; thanks kellytice!

Follow up question: How about external Websites where we cannot add the server where the website was hosted? You can still add the node as an External node, you add it with the IP but it isn't monitored at all. However, for a URL monitor it technically doesn't matter what node it is assigned to because the URL is what is…

Net-SNMP is for Linux/Unix, not Windows. If you want to get additional SNMP data from a Windows system that you can't get with the base Windows agent, SNMP Informant is what you want to use.

Wow, its been pretty much 2 years since i posted that orion will not monitor the CPU load of hyper-v hosts, and yet it still doesnt! You should be able to monitor the CPU load of your Hyper-V host by monitoring it just like any other Windows system.

Ah - the 1000 v 1024 factor. I'll find out. Andy Have you had any luck getting this information?
-
I guess what I would like to see is the actual formula that Orion is using starting with the actual datapoint that is collected all the way to kbytes of transfer for a given period.
-
Ah - the 1000 v 1024 factor. I'll find out. It's like you can read my mind! Or you have just done this before. = ) Yeah, that's what I suspect is the culprit for the difference I am seeing. Having the exact math calculations Orion is using will clear it all up for me. Thanks again Andy!

Just ran into this one myself. Considering this is a documented bug should I bother with a support ticket?
-
I was afraid you were going to tell me that. I already have so many cases open it's getting difficult to keep up on them all. This most recent upgrade has been a complete nightmare for me.

Okay, few more questions... If I am getting the logs at all doesn't that prove that the data is coming in? Also, if I configure the system for raw logs, is there a way to back that configuration out later? I understand it adds a separate database for storage of the raw logs which can have side-effects and I always like to…

Thanks, this is good info! Funny thing, that site you link to is actually a company that we are considering using for their FIM product.

Hrm... okay, back to the ole drawing board... In your Events view you can filter on only Node Rebooted events, will this satisfy your requriement? The problem with using the All Triggered Alerts element for this is that it's designed to inform you of all "Active" alerts. Nodes rebooting is something that happens and then…

I should also point out that we are also running Solarwinds NPM and APM on this same box; however, the DB for all of these applications is on separate system.
-
1. Is NCM installed to default location? No, it's installed at D:\Solarwinds\ The reason for this is that we have the C drive partitioned on different drives that is only for the OS, all of our applications go on D 2. What are the exact Windows permissions for the user? The user is a Member Of "Users" and "Remote Desktop…

Exactly! That's what the feature request I submitted is for. Having SolarWinds maintain and support connectors is good but why not get the community in on the action also in a way that is supported within the product. It's much like application monitoring templates are already handled for SolarWinds SAM.
-
That seems to yield the expected results.
-
I now have SP3 installed and am still experiencing this problem.
-
The hrStorage will give you the space in terms of Units. You need to take the value you want and multiply it by the Units to get what you are looking for. Hope this helps.

I have had problems with report writer where my reports appear drastically different in the web versus the report writer tool. I currently have a support ticket open on this but unfortunately they are taking a very long time to get back to me. The specific problem I have had is with grouping. However, I have seen a few…

Have you entertained the second option in my original post where the interface and volume status goes unknown? I have considered this. I would need to know that volumes and/or interfaces will go into an unknown status when this happens and that they won't go into an unknown status in other situations causing false…

I agree that reporting means 20 different things to 20 different people and it's less useful to suggest a feature such as "Reporting" and more useful to lay out a use case. I also agree that IIS is not necessarily the way to go, I was only using it as an alternative suggestion as I know that Orion leverages it and…
-
Ok, decided to try and take a stab at this... no guarantees... Go and create a new report in Report Writer and for the report type choose "Advanced SQL". Then try plugging this in for you report and see if it will work. SELECT Nodes.NodeID AS NodeID, Nodes.Caption AS Node_Name FROM Volumes INNER JOIN Nodes ON…

Or auto-approve anyone with more that a thousand posts.... lol. LOL That works for me too!
-
I have a brilliant (if i say so myself) that covers most customer scenarios and i just add more and more nodes and they automatically do clever stuff in alerting. Dan I would love to see some of the alerting magic you have created if you wouldn't mind sharing! = )

Byron, Yes, we'd either have to build a new monitor, or rework the existing one to support your use case. Regardless, it's a feature request, and I've logged it. -Craig Sweet, I don't have an immediate need. Knowing that it's logged as a feature request is good enough for me!
