If you just type Down I am pretty sure it will work. I currently have a component that shows it's status as Down for a URL monitor that is failing.

Hi Bryon-- Thanks for the posts. I'll get this to the product manager. Also, have you seen this post about what dev is working on for the next NPM release? Thanks, M Thanks Marie! Yeah, I had seen that post. I actually had the privilege of having a meeting with Chris LaPoint to preview the dev version with some of the new…

Glad I was able to help!

You are suggesting that this is a bug but I don't necessarily think that is the case and haven't personally seen anything to substantiate it being a bug. I am pretty sure that many of the SW customers are using that portion of the logic (I know I am) so any changes that SW would make to that logic system would absolutely…

I was going to upgrade SAM today; however, I am now holding off and instead using my maintenance window to try applying some of the fixes that SolarWinds support has provided.
-
So, any thoughts on why I can see that the necessary data is available and the devices and I am able to generate the maps with the Neighborhood Map in the Engineers Toolset, however; the topology discovery in NPM continues to give me nothing?
-
Also, when I use the Neighborhood Map in the Engineers Toolset for this Switch it maps it as expected.
-
Yes, I was able to use the MIB Browser and confirm that both of those MIB's in the KB return data.

Bron, Can you post the math the other system is using? Sure thing, this is the documentation that was provided to me by the creator of our internal system, let me know if you need me to explain any of it in more detail... Bandwidth billing Assumptions: customers are running at < 100mbps - 4 minute reporting avoids 32 bit…

I am curious how many of the people experiencing this problem are running on a 64bit OS? We are running Windows 2008 64bit and wondering if Orion has problems under these conditions.
-
Do you want to have to manually set the scale or what if it auto-scaled? Brandon If you are familiar with RRD functionality, that would be awesome. I think it would be nice to allow it to auto-scale by default but have the option to override that with a Min & Max. This is all just thinking out loud and off the cuff.

A better solution would let you input those things and be more like the "generic" connectors we've discussed on and off (that's kind of what this is anyway). But again... no promises I agree this would be a better solution.

Is APM failing all the time for specific process or is it random? If you are able to reproduce the issue you should open a support ticket for this so we can investigate it. The issue doesn't seem to be related to any specific process. I can't reproduce it on demand as it is intermittent, I just have to catch it in the act…

I am certainly on-board with the integrated vision and think it would be great. I just try to look at it from all angles. I still think LEM is a great product and hope that I will be able to continue working with it.
-
Questionario While I don't disagree with you on most of your points, I would like to respond to this one... The only way to use syslog on Orion right now is to keep the data only for a very short time (7days is recommended by Solarwinds) and not keep a history of it as logging to file has never ending bugs Monitoring…
-
Donald I completely agree with your following statement... I am with everyone on this but I think we need to keep something in mind. SolarWinds for the price point is an excellent tool set allowing you to do things that only very expensive tool sets normally allow. Without the price point in mind it is still excellent but…

I confirmed that it's listening on the default SQL Server port 1433 and I also confirmed that it's listening on the loopback adapter. I did just notice that UAC is turned on, do you know if that will cause issues for this?
-
I would specifically recommend watching the videos (the one that matches your deployment type is the 3rd one), it gives you in less than 10 minutes an exposure to what the install/upgrade wizard will take you through and has some good tips in it. It is time well invested). Pay special attention to the database aspects and…

This is totally awesome news! What is the minimum WAN speed that is required for this?
-
Ok, had to make a modification to the post to be accurate. You can get the Custom Poller ID by looking in the CustomPollers table in the database.
-
Crap, I just realized that I can't create a single alert that looks for both Volume and Interface unknown status without having to cobble together a custom SQL alert.
-
I configured your alert in my system exactly as it was in your screenshots and it worked exactly as I would have expected it to. I had about two dozen alerts fire off. You don't by chance have something in the Alert Suppression section do you? I doubt you do but I figured it can't hurt to ask.

I have a few older Cisco Switches that do this as well. I found disabling 64 bit counters fixed it. I am guessing the 64 bit counters are broken on the device software. Yeah, I also had this issue with some older Cisco gear. Ultimately playing with the 64 bit counter setting and the Counter Rollover Method settings are…

Our patching product we use has an option to turn it's agent into a relay, it's just a check box you click on the agent. Then you are able to point other agents at that system. It's a super simple and works really well. I was thinking something like that would work really well with LEM also.
-
Byrona, Yeah, understand that but it does not make sense for the Solarwinds to utilized more than 1GB of data/day (assuming 300MB/6hrs). And at the same time, how should we monitor the servers across sites/countries if turning a few servers on could slows down the whole network? I wasn't trying to suggest that the traffic…

I know you noted that you are already working on something but I figured I would get a feature request out there for the sake of voting. I submitted it HERE.
-
This is why I love working with SolarWinds, you guys are always one step ahead and have my back!

If you are talking about APM, then the polling frequency is controlled at the Application level or preferably at the Application Template level, I don't know of a way to have different polling frequencies for different Components within an Application. If you want the same Application on different sets of nodes to have…

Brandon, I figured it out... I think... The problem is the fix for the FireFox 4 problem doesn't seem to be applied to Additional Web Servers. If my users go to the website that is on the Primary NPM system it works fine. Do you think you could have somebody there test against an Additional Web Server and see if they can…
-
Try what I previously suggested and let me know if that is closer to what you are looking for... Setup a log forwarder on your Windows server to send the logs to your NPM system. On your NPM system go into the Syslog Viewer and setup an alert with what ever specified criteria is important to you. As the action to that…
