In case anybody is still following this... In a later post located HERE I did determine that the cluster level data being polled by IVIM is not (or at least not always) correct. The development team is going to be updating the polling method as I indicated in that thread.

Does anybody have any idea what might be causing this behavior?

We use the additional web server package from SolarWinds. What are you interested in knowing about it?

This isn't configurable, all tickets are retained forever.

With APM you also have the ability to create your own Application Templates by browsing Windows services running on your systems and selecting them to be monitored as part of the Application Template.

You can write pollers for NetApp volume usage, we have it working in our system. Below I linked to a poller that I found in the Content Exchange, it's not the one I use so I can't tell you for sure how well it will work but you should give it a try. NetApp Volume Usage A while back I also created a set of pollers that…

While I can't help you get the SolarWinds Event Log Forwarder running, I can suggest a different application that does almost exactly the same thing. We run a lot of W2K8 R2 as well and we have found NTsyslog to be a much lighter application to accomplish the same goal. Just download and run the executable and you will…

We use both NPM and NCM in addition to SAM and IPAM. With regards to NPM and NCM, it's a great combo that allows us to quickly backup a network device, push out a config change, watch performance of the device and make sure the changes have not had any negative performance or availability impacts and restore from backup if…

Coccium You should be able to restrict reports to specific users. When you setup a user account there is a permission that allows you to specify which report folder you are granting them access to. If you setup a report folder for a customer and put only the reports you want them to see in that folder you can then restrict…

I personally have found this to be the most difficult part of LEM; understanding what the different definitions (suspicious or unusual traffic for example) really are looking for. As far as I am aware there is no good way to tell this.

It sounds like what you need will require some Regular Expression magic. If you post the details regarding what exactly you are trying to pass/exclude somebody might be able to help you.
-
It sounds like you are already capturing IPSLA data and that isn't showing a problem. The next thing you may want to try out is the SolarWinds product SEUM which does multi-site Synthetic End User Monitoring of websites.

After you have had a chance to kick the tires post back and let me know what you think of it.

I talked with Support about this and their suggestions were as follows... Start with Event Group/Any Alert Use Tool Alias and Detection or Insertion IP These will help you narrow your search; from here you can target in on more specific fields.

Somebody.... anybody...?

Somebody... anybody? Could really use some explanation on this.

Interesting thought. When you compare the results of your method versus the method SolarWinds is currently using in Orion how different are the results?
-
I know that this has been answered in the forums because I personally have asked before as well. Unfortunately I am having trouble finding that thread because the search functionality for Thwack seems to be lacking. What I found more useful was to add a Load Average poller to all of our Linux/Unix systems. Below is my…

Being able to manually set the scales on the charts would be a wonderful thing to have.

It would seem that my Trapvarbinds table had run wild with stale data that wasn't getting removed. I was able to truncate the table and then shrink the database to resolve the immediate issue. I still have concerns about the system not being able to handle a good sized database.

I am going to have to endorse this feature request as well as solving the not saving your selections as you move from one page to the next.

I do highly recommend you download and install a trial version of Orion and test it out in your environment. Every product has quirks and a personality all it's own and you want to make sure it will work for you. If possible I would recommend doing this with each product that you are considering, this is what we did for…

Tesdall Well, I can tell you that Orion NPM with the Netflow Traffic Analyzer will be able to do these things as you have stated them. It will also do a great job with the computers and servers as well, especially with the addition of the Application Performance Monitor (APM). If you are doing network stuff you might also…

Team, Has anyone created a method to suppress four similar Syslog events and create one new event that states the root cause. In my example, I received the following four events and want to create a new event/alert that states "Host 085 is down" since this is the root cause. Any ideas? Appreciate the help and comments.…

You can monitor URL's, Web Ports (80, 8080, 443, etc), Apache processes, and Apache statistics. There is an Apache Tomcat template that I found HERE in the forums that you can take a look at. You also have the ability to write your own script monitors that will SSH into the box and pull data back. I hope this helps!

We are having an issue where Orion assumes the node is down when we are at only 40% utilization. We are trying to find a way for it to report heavy traffic, instead of complete node down. Thank you. How is Orion indicating the node is down, through the WebUI or with an Alert? My guess is that you have something configured…

I think this is one of those things that sounds good on paper but would turn out to be a pain in reality for those supporting it.

This morning after a great experience working with the SolarWinds developers I was able to validate the accuracy of the Orion Bandwidth collections. We initiated a WireShark session and compared the SNMP response value for ifOctetsIn with what Orion posted to the database at the same time and the values matched. This…

I agree with the comments made by most of the others here. I think it would be nice if there was a way to depreciate old content that was no longer relevant to reduce the amount of "noise" that one needs to search through.

We have this problem as well. I suspected that this was a VMWare thing as it only happens on our 4.1 vCenter and not on the 4.0 vCenter. Glad to hear that SolarWinds validated with VMWare, thanks for that info Brandon!
