Hey Don! I don't know of good way to add a link to do this. However, you can accomplish this through the Node Management section of the WebUI. Choose the node or nodes (you can group them by custom properties on the left) and then choose Poll Now from the More Actions drop down at the top.

If you haven't already checked out the LEM videos then I would strongly recommend doing so. I used those to learn much of what I know about it today. Those can be found HERE.

I created a feature request for this HERE.

For this all you need is two separate alerts. One alert that covers all of your devices except for the problematic devices and a 2nd alert that is specifically for the problematic devices. To exclude the devices in your first alert put in a set of conditions that look like the following... Trigger Alert when any of the…

Graph types are set with the exception of UnDP graphs, on those you can choose the type.

A slightly different solution to this would be to have each of those graphs located on a single page. To do this you could create a new summary view and then add each of those graphs to that view. Below is a link where you see a validated answer that should guide you through doing this, it worked out great for us. Hope…

This type of functionality is currently not available in Orion though there has been feature requests for it. Here is a link where you can see some requests for this functionality...

Vmukhar I am curious why knowing the state of your users's pc,s is problematic for you? The only problem I could potentially see this causing is downtime calculation problems which I think can be resolved by setting the "Unplugged" option on the interfaces for those systems.

I agree with the review.

I called SolarWinds support and asked them about this. According to them it really is dependent on the amount of resources you give it. So long as you keep adding more dedicated CPU and Memory it should be able to keep taking in more and more events. The only resource limitation is on the disk, the maximum disk space the…

I really need to get this information, is this something I would need to call support to get?
-
My guess would be the same as the following post... I am also seeing these and trying to figure out how best to address it. I don't feel like I have a lot of Syslog/Trap traffic compared to what a Syslog and Trap receiver should be able to handle.

Hrm, I received an error when posting this thread as well.

Well, you can pretty much accomplish what you are looking for by embedding credentials in a URL or link that you provide. Check out the section in the NPM Admin guide about configuring automatic login. http://www.solarwinds.com/NetPerfMon/SolarWinds/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm#href=OrionAGAutomaticLogin.htm

Bump!

The best way to do this would be with a report. You can use the the report that already exists called "Available Space on each Volume". Just open that report in the Report Writer and in the Filter Results tab add an elementary condition that says "Volume Type is equal to Fixed Disk". You can make any additional tweaks to…

Do you have the swap space data now, if so how are you collecting that? To get the total size you are going to need a custom SQL Query that adds up the space in the query.

Glad you posted this question because we were just looking at how to solve the same thing. It's too bad that VMWare/Hyper-V don't support an option to run some sort of script when they change the power state of a host system because you could then have it send a request to the Orion API to Unmanaged the system.

We did use HP OpenView when I first started here; however, we did not migrate directly to SolarWinds. We went from HP OpenView to an Open Source solution and then to SolarWinds. I am not sure if this is what you are looking for but let me know if this works and I would be happy to help.

I have pointed this out and in speaking with Brandon @ SolarWinds he has confirmed that fixing this is on their ToDo list as a bug to fix; however, there is no ETA on this. You can see my post regarding this HERE.

I was wondering what, if any, enhancements or feature upgrades are being considered for Report Writer. It would seem that Report Writer might be due for a makeover similar to what happened with MapMaker. Completely agree with this.

It looks like i can add notes to a ticket without checking the box to send to the client but still leave the note as visible to the client. Then I can add another note and send it to the client and choose to send the note only, not the full details of the ticket. This isn't the best solution but it works.

I had problems last time I upgraded with my Linux agents not auto-upgrading. When the auto-upgrade doesn't work it's a huge pain to manually upgrade all of those agents. It's always been one of the reasons I avoid agents when I can. Please keep this thread updated on how this works out as I don't want to upgrade until I…

I am going to have to agree with Donald on all points. I personally find that the support I get in the forums is the best; unfortunately that doesn't work well for urgent issues.

Would really love to hear from somebody at SolarWinds on this one.

Anybody?

When you say "ping alert" I assume you are looking for a simple node down? There are a few things to consider here... * How frequent is your polling set to? * How frequent is the alert set to check? * Are there any delays set on the alert? * How are you sending the alert (email, sms, etc)?* It's possible that the delay…

You don't want to use that Alert Suppression. Alert suppression looks through the database and if ANYTHING matches it, the alert will be suppressed. In this case if there is any node that is down it will suppress the alert. A better way to accomplish this would be to put a statement in the Alert Trigger that says "Node…

In addition to the videos that Marie pointed out, there is also a White Paper on Advanced Alerts... http://www.solarwinds.com/support/Orion/docs/UnderstandingOrionAdvancedAlerts.pdf

Any word on this?
