Ok. Does this mean that you loaded the vsphere client on the Orion server? I guess I don't understand how you're getting all that information to display. Perhaps if you could give a brief overview of how you did it, it might go a little farther. Simply having Orion query the ESXi servers themselves (regardless of SNMP or…

No idea how to private message, so I guess will just respond here. We're going down the road of virtualizing production and development machines on ESXi 4. I would like to help test if needed/convenient. In the interim, anyone using tools that can do IPMI/CIM monitoring, you can use those to monitor ESXi hosts and basic…

I followed the guide referenced from above, and I get no CPU, memory, volumes displayed...only thing I get are a list of network interfaces installed. I have verified that SNMP is working, and so is the API on the actual ESXi 4 hosts in question.

I would like to get access as well.

I ended up opening a ticket with Microsoft on this. In short, the latest version of Symantec Endpoint Protection hosed it all up. We had to. 1. Obtain the CleanWipe utility from Symantec to remove all folders and registry entries for SEP from the system, then uninstall Dell OpenManage. 2. Two reboots. 3. Remove teaming on…

I guess maybe I don't understand the question. Orion/APM monitors disk/volume space via SNMPv3 just fine. Start the System Manager, add a new host, check the node type as SNMPv3, put in your authentication information. That's all there is to it. To note one thing, of course in Windows there is no SNMPv3 agent...it is only…

The common theme for all of our machines is that they had to have Symantec Endpoint Protection forcibly removed...which was some manual edits to some registry entries. I believe this is the cause of our particular issue. Only the machines that that had to be performed on are suffering this issue. The instructions called…

I was just wondering if this is ever going to be fixed. I'm running NPM 9.1 SP2...still an issue.

Functionality in question is circled in red below. I would like that in 2 columns, 3 rows...instead of the way it is currently.

Ticket created and Diagnostics uploaded. Ticket number is 59999. In the meantime, is there a way to uninstall APM 2 SP1? Does re-installing APM 2 overwrite it? This problem didn't manifest itself until I installed SP1.

This worked. I will let the Support staff know.

Well, I did an snmpwalk of one of the systems in question. The SysObjectID you want is 1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.3 I got this by looking at the snmp information of a windows host identified correctly. I then did a complete snmpwalk on the host in question. Last OID it finds is 1.3.6.1.2.1.4.25.6.3.1.5.xxx Which isn't right.…

I will post one later today.

I'd like to solve performance issues. When I had the Orion syslog turned on, the performance of the DB instance went to hell. When I stopped forwarding syslogs to it, it has been solid ever since. Would be nice if the syslogs could live in their own database, on another server. Sending syslogs to a database is generally…

I had the same issue. The way I fixed it was to go into the template, and expand each component type. I set each "Credential for Monitoring" to the correct credential for each component type, then hit "Submit" at the bottom. 30 seconds later, everything showed up green except the one service/process (MSExchangeES) that…

Ok. Well, I found out that if you do: http://servername/Orion/ You get the DirectLink page fine...no login required. If you do: http://servername You get prompted for a username/password. Getting prompted username/password regardless of what URL is entered is highly undesirable. Is this *feature functionality* or was this…

Yes, which is why we got rid of Symantec Endpoint Protection (or whatever they are calling it these days). When the IDS portion of the client gets loaded, whether it is active or not, it loads a network shim that sits between the normal NIC drivers and the kernel...the Teefer2 miniport. If you don't want it loaded, don't…

Nevermind. Got into the manual a bit more and found the DirectLink stuff...works like a charm.
