I cannot tell you the number of times the deployment of a well thought out approach had been scrapped mid deployment due to executives seeing really compelling dog-n-pony shows. It would be interesting for a survey that showed the averages spent on uncompleted projects due to all the amulet sellers..

Don't forget "Patience you must have.. My young Padawan." when it comes to utilizing the cloud.

Great topics! Thank you for this blog post!

Looking forward to New Years! I always attend a board game party while waiting for the ball to drop. Too bad I didn't have the new Sysadmania to add to the game selections!

Well stated and easy to remember with the automobile analogy. Thanks!

couple red's and I'm skipping this one.

W.O.W, just wow! Truly a great moment in gaming history.....

Thank you for such great content this year. I also very much appreciate the links to prior Thwack Camps! This year was my first, so it's great to go back and review the prior events.

I had the opportunity to trial IPAM and consider it's purchase. This lack of Meraki DHCP support was the show stopper. Really didn't yield much advantage with the cost over Windows Server 2016 IPAM for our specific needs, or better stated neither met our need but the cost was included in our Datacenter licensing.

DId a migration and it was pretty smooth. Moved from two WIndows 2008 R2 servers, one running SQL 2008 R2 to Windows 2016 VMs. The new Cisco ASA Insight was well worth the migration. Well done Solarwinds!

Actually walked Fridays 11/17 question through with my ASA on the lab while following the video and while seeing the similar events described got this one wrong? Feels kinda like really old Novell Netware exams that failed if you used one of the three correct methods but wasn't how the exam writer selected the answer.

Well stated! I'll have to go back and read your other movie related IT gems!

I'd completed the steps but it seems to not have registered them and it's missing from my reputation when I try to search for it. Another (not the EMEA) is listed with 0% but only one item to complete?

Did the upgrade to 2018.2 and NPM 12.3 without NTA 4.4 because of this reason. Hopefully 4.2.3 will be supported until a method is devised to migrate existing flow data in to the SQL database.

The idea of the onboarding mission is a fantastic idea. Sadly the tracking mechanism has broken and a week prior to the sweepstakes no follow-up myself and several others posted the same issue. Clearly, the onboarding failure hasn't stopped me from using Thwack and accomplishing other missions, but I've a lower level of…

Love it, DevOps version of "6 in one and half dozen in the other". It's good to have a reminder that it depends on one's situation and that there is not a rubber stamp on "one should always do this to succeed" in DevOps.

One strategy is to implement a busy season freeze. Only security related changes in order to ensure availability isn't impacted by unanticipated code changes that can occur even with a dev, test, uat and prod planned environment.

It's fixed today. Finished it up and received the badge. For others that encountered problems, give it a try again.

Pen testing is a really good idea, but I recommend using different vendors periodically at different times to make sure all the details are captured. One may uncover an issue the other vendor didn't detect or had rated at a lower threat level.

The upload link is also not working for me.

Done! File has been uploaded.

Congrats as well for your 2017 Thwack Award! I have a ways to go at 952nd...

We had recently upgraded from two Cisco Nexus 5548P switches to the new 93180YC-EX switches. We did keep our existing 8 FEX modules and use them in conjunction with the new 93180YC's. I'll do the task in case it is of value. Bill
