  • alterego, We have SAM installed and monitoring our dell servers without issue. What I would like to do is expand this a little farther. We have a dell backup server running the LSI Megaraid Storage manager software. We would like to monitor and alert on this software, vs. letting the software send us e-mails.
  • I made this change, but it is hard to tell if it fixed anything. I still am thinking this is not it, due to the fact that the PS script started and was processing, and then timed out directly from within the script. It never hit the Orion timeout, it has always timed out from within the script.
  • Everything was rebooted and moved around. We had a MAJOR overhaul of our Virtualization environment. We added 7 blades to each datacenter.
  • Alterego, I have seen within the Pollers there are different types of Dell pollers. When would one want to use these vs. the out of the box? • So if this is a limit on windows....how does one fix it? As indicated, we see more timeouts with our PS monitors vs. any other monitor. This has led us to believe that the issue is more on the Powershell side than on the Orion side. But since the behavior is being NOTICED within Orion that is what is being blamed.
  • I worked with support yest. and that resolved the "immediate" issue. However, our VCenter polling is still not functioning properly. New hosts are not being updated within Orion after they are created within the VMWare tools
  • alterego I am going to piggyback on this. We have a dell server with the megaraid storage tools installed on it. I would like to standardize as much monitoring thru orion as possible. Is there a tech note for configuring advanced hardware monitoring? We are doing VERY basic hardware monitoring and I would LOVE to expand…
  • Each monitor had one PS component....HOWEVER.....there where 10 monitors. Could this be an issue with the Orion server not being able to handle XX number of PS monitors within a certain polling period?
  • Any idea why our Powershell scripts timeout? We seem to have the biggest issue with those monitors more so than any other.
  • alterego......I am thinking this could be broken up. I have a report that lists the nodes and what monitors are assigned to them. This gives me the first part. What I am REALLY looking for is how to get what monitors are tied to what alerts. Or to put it a different way. If alert Z has a trigger condition of "application…
  • We FINALLY were able to start investigate this issue in further depth. It appears that the MONITOR is not timing out, however a piece of the script is timing out. A number of our PS script make web calls via .NET. The error that we have been able to trap is "web request timed out". This happens within the script and at…
  • My SAM Application Polling Rate is hovering around the 47% mark. Other than that, the numbers look good. The main question I am wondering is that is it typical to have both the polling frequency & and Time out to be the same? OR to have the timeout GREATER than the polling frequency?
