Please add me to list of topology mapping from NPM either with LS or within NPM itself. I don't own LS but was looking to buy til I realized it didnt integrate with NPM. Willing to test and develop this since it would be critical for us as well. Especially the ability to tell NPM or LS to draw the network map for a…

I have but the issue remains. As if it still thinks there is a startup config for that device even though it was previously deleted.

I have a similar issue with traps and not sure if this was answered already. Lets say I have a trap come in and I want to pull out one of the sections of the trap message and log it to a file. When define the condition as the main trap OID, then add an action to Log to a file.....it doesnt appear I can figure out what…

I thought I was going crazy so I used another snmp scanning tool against my SNMPv3 configuration on JUNOS and that works fine so now it is something with the Solarwinds platform. Here is my JUNOS configuration: set snmp v3 usm local-engine user user1 authentication-sha authentication-key <key> set snmp v3 usm local-engine…

Thanks Salah. I found those exact articles and followed them exactly and still couldn't get Solarwinds to authenticate. What I need to understand is why does Solarwinds have you type the authentication for SNMPv3 in twice? What is difference between SNMPv3 auth and read/write SNMPv3 auth? I tried filling out one section at…

That error would occur when you haven't created all of the Custom Properites I listed in the readme. I also gave a screenshot of all the properties. Once you create those and populate the ones you want on the repot that error should go away

The first upload had a problem with monthbegin function. I have since corrected so please re-download the zip if you ran into an error while trying to install that function into db.

I would think if you have a custom property that states a switch is "edge" and you want to remove all interfaces associated with that switch, you could write a sql query to find all nodes with the custom property, then find where those nodeID's exist in the Interface table and perform a delete on all those rows that have…

I upgraded my Dev instance of Solarwinds to 9.1 and haven't seen an issue with db maintenance yet. Usually runs in less than 30 seconds. Of course I have about 15 hosts being monitored on that Dev box so may not be a great test for you.

1) Not available currently. A request is in to have this functionality added. 2) I would check into transforming those UnDP values during collection 3) UnDP tabular resource doesn't allow clicking currently. Not sure if that is added as a request yet but that would be pretty cool if you are collecting historical…

Report Writer does not allow the creation of graphs. You could create reports that give you the data you need but it would only be in text form. As for custom periods, the reports are static in nature so once you save a report you can't on the fly change the reporting period via the web page. If you want a number of…

From my experience, I usually get IP address in the caption field if the trap comes in on an IP that has not been associated with a node in Solarwinds. We set all our devices to source the trap from its loopback address. Then we add the loopback address as the monitored IP in solarwinds for that particular node. This makes…

Anyone from Solarwinds aware of how this works?

I thought account/view limitations can be based off of custom properties out of the box. I base all my accounts off of custom properties and didn't need anything custom to do it. Under Account Limitation Builder app on the Orion Server, you can add your custom properties and those will show up under the available…

I don't believe it is possible to have a node/interface status change color based on a UnDP status. I believe this was requested and support/dev is aware.

I believe you only need to buy the modules for the additional polling engines if you intend to use those modules on devices you add to that polling engine. For instance if you want to send netflow data from a router that you added on the additional polling engine, you would need to have the netflow module purchased and…

The formatting of numeric values in Report Writer should translate to the webpage as well. Did you save the changes you made?
-
I have netscreen firewalls and UnDP cpu/memory without issue. Sounds like you have some other issue going on with your Orion install.
-
Mars, Completely agree about Solarwinds support. Typically if I need an issue resolved or worked on I need to literally harrass support to get them to work on it. If I stopped calling/emailing or following up, nothing would ever get done. I also pay for support/maintenance and get little to no feedback on open cases unless…

So far so good with v9.1. Love the ESX monitoring out of the box. One-step editing of pages is much more streamlined. The biggest improvement is the web node management..love search. Keep up the good work...my biggest things still not included are AD/Radius/Tacacs Authentication and ability to parse out info from Traps.…

I too have tested this in RC and put it in production with no issue. Events webpage is finally fast again. Traps are still slow for me though.

This is an issue with the Juniper mib and not Orion. I also have Juniper netscreen firewalls and my t1 serial interfaces show in "warning" status. If you do an snmpwalk of the firewall you will see that the status in solarwinds is accurate with what is on the device. I have opened a case with Juniper to see if they can…

This is how you would do it. This would tell you any recent ports that are now in Up status and were not before.
-
Are you seeing any change in response times or drops during those periods of unknown snmp status on the interfaces? Do you have a sniffer onsite or have wireshark loaded on your solarwinds box to verify that the snmp polls and responses are making it? If you haven't tried that yet I would perform a sniff on the firewall…

I wouldn't worry with hotfix, SP3 is about to be released and the hotfix ended up causing my Imbedded Maps to not load.

This is working great. Good work!

I got same error when map resources try to load following hot fix. My case 102994 was opened to fix memory leak on Orion Service Module (businesslayerhost.exe) and the fix was given to me to resolve that. Unfortunately the error starte so I removed the hotfix. Still waiting on support to come back with something.

Mib files can be updated by submitting your mib files that aren't currently in Solarwinds to Solarwinds via a support ticket. They update their MIB def file weekly and provide it on their website. Once you download and update your Mib file on your Orion box you will have the latest and greatest. Even if the Mib is not…

This has been requested by all for years and dev/support has this request logged. One of those "should be in next release" type of deals. If not in the next release I will start to doubt it will be done. I have used Solarwinds since version 8 and with every release have been disappointed this has not been addressed. I too…

This service has a memory leak. I have opened case #102994 with support and have been working with them for a month. I am also running 9.5 SP3 and te BusinessLayerHost eventually will get up to 1.6G of memory usage on my server and crash. Will let you know if its resolved any time soon...has been that way since I went to…
