To be clear...if I want to add the raw status result of lets say a serial number UnDP for a cisco device. How would I get that resource shown on a node details page? I see ways to show tabular data....I see ways to chart data....and I see a way to show all UnDP's status' for all the UnDP assigned to the node but I don't…

I am backing up my first Fortigate firewall with NCM and noticing the extremely slow config download issue as well. Running on NCM 7.3.2. I back up over 700 network devices (Juniper, Cisco, Extreme, Citrix, F5, Riverbed) and all back up quickly except for this Fortigate. Any fix for this?

Any ideas?

It seems the webpage decided to play nicely again...not sure what happened.

It is sent from the Orion server IP. I know this because we have ACL's in place on our network gear and only allow the Orion servers to snmp poll. When I do an snmp test from the web gui its fine. I am thinking your mpls provider doesn't have something setup right.

Verify the user account you logged into the webpage with has access to reports and verify the reports folder you are loading from. If this all looks good, in report writer, open the report and verify you checked the box to allow this report to show on the webpage.

Personally I have not experienced the same issue with Symantec running on my Solarwinds polling servers.

Upgrading to 9.5 will resolve issue..I believe there was a bug in early 9 versions that wouldn't allow Traps page to load. I have a case opened working on a similar issue. When I went to version 9.1 Traps began loading extremely slow (30 seconds) no matter how many rows I requested. I then went to 9.5 and now Events web…

No one out there uses HP Openview Operations with Solarwinds?
-
Please see . Solarwinds Development is aware syslog/trap functionality is lacking. Eventually things like pulling out individual varbinds, etc. are being added into product. Cleaning up the main traps view to show cleaner messages instead of a listing of the varbinds is something I hope is part of those upgrades. Its not…

I agree. Overall moving in right direction but I call/email for updates on my cases and don't hear a peep. I have cases open for weeks/months and usually takes weeks in between updates. Communication is a big thing with me...even if its to say there is no update. I can understand Thwack posts not being replied to...but…

If you are running old 4.5 code on F5..the vendor will not detect as F5. I believe mine detected as a Linux box. If you are running v9 code, you should be ok and you may want to check your Orion install.

For VMWare server monitoring, you simply need to get SNMP working and add the ESX server to Solarwinds and it will begin collecting information on all the Virtual machines on that ESX box.

The 3 tables have data based on your data retention settings. If you keep detailed statistics for 7 days...after database maintenance runs nightly it will copy any data over 7 days old in the Detail table to the Hourly table. Lets say you keep hourly data for 14 days. During DB maintenance, the hourly data over 14 days…

I would double check as to why you can't ping the devices from the server. Can you ping them from other locations? Do you have any ACL's blocking ping requests? Obviously your routes are good since you are able to SNMP poll the device. I would double check your switch config to make sure that ping is allowed or is not…

Known memory leak for that service in 9.5 SP any. I am working with support.

Documentation states 2005 SP1 support...just want to confirm SP3 is in fact supported. DBA's are waiting on this confirmation before they can patch the database.

I too have setup F5 pool member monitoring and currently display that table in a UnDP tabular chart on the F5 node details page. Unfortunately there isn't a way to alarm on an individual "row" if you will of an snmp get table. So if one member of a pool is down, the alarm I generate simply says "A member of an F5 pool is…

If you are a global organization and have offices in different time zones it will require a bit more work. I use custom attributes on the interfaces that I care about and store the value in hours in relation to GMT timezone. For instance one office could be -3 and another could be +3 depending on its relation to GMT time.…

I agree. I have run into problems with the past where some of my coworkers will not check to see if a node was already added or if an existing box had that IP and over-wrote the existing info and replaced it with the new node. Doesn't come up often but would be good to display warning if node name and or IP is already in…

I am not sure how you would do that via Solarwinds but you definitely have an alarming mechanism by the users who have duplicate IPs calling in with issues. :-) Joking aside it would be tough to custom poll arp/mac tables and then compare all of them to find where duplicate IP's may exist. We don't have a big issue with…

I agree that most should support the Mib-2 link down trap with the interface index. I can't think of devices we have that don't do this but I haven't taken an in depth look recently. This would be neat to see how well this works...we too have been bitten when links flap quickly and we miss it via our 3min polling interval.…
-
Technically you will catch 95% of issues/data by only monitoring one end of a link. But you will miss out on error/discard information on the one end of the link and if we are talking about WAN links that could be real significant data.

I also have netscreen firewalls and you need to setup a UnDP to poll the firewalls via the Juniper Interface Mib. Juniper stores all its interface information in its mib and not in the standard interface mib. The netscreen interface mibs are under OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.3224.9.1.1 1.3.6.4.1.3224.9.1.1.2 is IfName…

Do you have snmp access to the ESX server? If so Solarwinds should detect it as such, and then mark all the VM's as virtual hosts.
-
I view Solarwinds as primarily an Availability Mgmt application. It has the bonus of also being able to collect statistics (cpu/memory/storage/network) as well as any other info you can collect via SNMP. With modules you can buy for Solarwinds you could even collect Netflow/Sflow from network devices to show application…

This cannot be done with the current versions of Orion. This request has been put into support from nearly every customer I am sure, and the answer of "in a future release" is the response. I know this is on the roadmap. Can we get confirmation if this will be included in a release of v9 or are we talking v10 or later for…

If Netflow is not installed on your system, then you can right click and delete all the tables that start with dbo.Netflow****. This will not impact your system at all.
