I think that would be a good feature to add. This is probably something that affects smaller installations more than larger ones. I mean, the only reason I need to filter out volumes and interfaces is because I have a limited license. When each windows box is discovered with 10+ interfaces, and most large switches will…

Hi Jason, I suppose I should've mentioned that I am currently running NPM v10. So your saying that if I setup scheduled rediscovery, then I will have to manually uncheck all interfaces and volumes from being added, each time the discovery runs? --Brandon

I was also going to suggest removing the Multicast Routing resource from the node, if you don't care about multicast at all. I'm having a similar issue, but I'm interested in keeping the multicast monitoring -- I just don't want the alerts. I've disabled the multicast alerts, but I'm still getting events in the event log.

Thanks Jason. Do you find that most people create a source on both side of a link, or do they just setup one source?
-
That's great. Thanks -- I just wanted to know if there was anything special I needed to do.

Thanks for the response. I already have LEM configured to collect raw messages, but I guess I'm not sure now how I search the raw data. This line from the link you provided is what's confusing: nDepth uses RAW data (the original log) and is different from the nDepth Search performed in the LEM console at Explore > nDepth.…

Can you put up a screenshot of what you're seeing? What resource are you using? What NPM version are you running?
-
Sure. Here it is:

I've used the online demo but I haven't seen a demo video or anything. On the online demo they have a nice graph that has the top 5 applications -- how would you go about defining an application as a matching source ip:port(s)? I'm interested in defining ip:port(s) so I can have quick and easy access to the information,…

Thanks Petr and Mustafa. Both responses are very helpful. And for anyone else who's curious, the default setting for NPM_Settings_RoutingNeighbor_Retain_Days is 30 days.
-
Just to clarify -- the issue is with NPM, not the router.
-
We wrap that up into the workflow for replacing the server. The last step on the checklist is "Verify all interfaces, volumes, and custom pollers are up to date and polling in NPM"

Done -- Case #49558

Hey Ram, Thanks for the response. I'm actually trying to find out if anyone is able to get the feature working while using a non-root user. It works great when I tested it as root, but I've been having a heck of a time with it trying to use a different username. I have a support case open, so we'll see what happens.

Thanks for the suggestion -- I had previously used a named statistic but took that out as part of my troubleshooting. The good news though is that I figured this out -- it turned out to be a credentials problem within the 'Edit Script' dialog window. Once I used an account that was a local Admin (not a domain account that…

When you say replace the old ID with the new ID, are you referring to the NPM Interface ID or the snmp index ID from the box itself?

PM sent

Yes, this is possible using a Perfstack Project and the Active Sessions metric. * Create a new PerfStack analysis project * Add your ASA as an entity * In the Metric pane, look for VPN RA DETAIL * * Drag Active Sessions over to the project board (not sure what you call the space on the right where the graphs live). Once…

@"jason.carrier" For those of us upgrading from an RC release to GA, do we still need to run the script to allow the centralized upgrade from the UI? If so, can you please post a link to that script?

This is beautiful -- thank you!!!

Our biggest issue is that our primary desktop management tools -- SCCM and AV -- are on-prem. The message we're getting now is to reimagine how work will work in the future, which we believe will mean less people in offices, and fewer formal offices. So we're now scrambling to get up to speed on cloud management tools,…

For some reason I'm not seeing that issue -- my alerts are still going out with data in them. Guess I got lucky?
-
mavturner -- Any risk running with 6.3.0 or do we need to be aware of any major bugs?
-
You can definitely monitor the operational status of power supplies and fan trays, and you can receive snmp traps for alerts generated on almost anything else. I know there are custom pollers on the content exchange, so look around there for what's available. I think that most issues on modules and such would require you…

Man, seems like this has been in beta for a lot longer than normal -- is it delayed due to the PRI polling issue with 3845's?

I have been running Orion NPM/NCM on HP Blades for 2 years now, and I have never had a problem. One thing you will need to consider is how much space you need for a database, and/or if your blade platform will offer fast enough disk IO for your environment. Since I run on HP blades I only have two HD's available -- this…

Nevermind... I found the problem. Turns out that if I changed my custom menu bar item URL from the IP address to the hostname, then it works fine. Can someone who knows more about IIS explain why that is?

Here's our NOC view:

What about monitoring the VIP address as it's own ICMP-only node? You can still get the detailed stats you want on the servers, but ICMP will give you availability and response time for the service as a whole.

I've experienced the same issue, but mine are always a result of some kind of network interruption between the Orion poller and the device. I haven't been able to figure anything out, other than to restart Orion. I was waiting for v9 to see if it magically gets fixed.
