That sounds like a potentially valuable customization. Can you provide details of what you did?

I ahd also been having difficulty with even basic alerts working correctly. I found that testing did not seem to function. I looked at the alert log and discovered an intermittent database connection error. I performed a repair of the SW alerting service and that appeared to solve the problem. However, it seems to be back…

Thanks for the information. Are you running the Orion and Cirrus apps on the same server, and are you housing both the Orion and Cirrus databases on the same but separate server? Just curious.
-
Hmmm. The current admin guide for Scalability Engines indicates that the limit is 100,000 elements, for which you would not need anywhere near 75 polling engines. So, it really is the number of elements and has nothing practically to do with the number of polling engines.

Thanks for the quick response lag. Lee me see if I understand. The first query would work to display the user's local time for any alert as long as it is inserted in the alert message? The second query would reference the timezone custom property and then convert the UTC stamp?

Thanks, alter. Anyone else?

I like it and use it as well. It has a uniqueness and flexibility to it that is different from the other resources and views available with Orion.

Guac, The answers are Yes, No, Yes, No. Will try logging in as another local admin user. In the meantime, I checked to make sure the appropriate users (IUSR, NETWORK SERVICE, Authenticated Users) have the needed permissions to the folders listed in the PermissionsChecker and there have been no more "FAILED" results.

Keep in mind that SolarWinds does not support running on Windows XP, Vista, or 7. The apps require Server 2003 or 2008. While older versions of NPM "could" function with increasing unreliability using a non-server Windows OS, it has been a while since I have tried that and I would not recommend it.

Also, I believe that the AND will need to be an OR to get this to work.

Roger, I am running version 2.5 and do not see the sample alert "Restart a Service" in Advanced Alert Manager. I also do not see the APMServiceControl.exe in the referenced folder. Do I need to run a service repair or re-install of APM?

That message indicates that the interface is not currently being monitored by Orion. You need to actually add it as an interface via System Manager or the web. One thing you could do is open Database Manager and look in the Interfaces table for the Interface ID in question. Note the Node ID that it is associateed with. Now…

A little more specific information.... Unless the end user happens to already be logged into the Orion server, they can only get the Node Details page displayed if login information is embedded in the link that they click on. (Unless you want the user to have to login to see the information) To do that, append the…

I had a look at the source code for the Orion Website Administration page and it looks like something could be done to that page. However, I would think that I am needing to locate a file that controls the settings and format of the entire Orion website. No? Anyone at SolarWinds?

Don't know how big your database is, but don't forget the 4GB database size limitation if you should decide to try using SQL 2005 Express.

Not sure what you mean here 88tb1rd. I eventually will be ">", but the problem is the "more" output taht confuses NCM at first. What exactly did you do to get the ">" prompt to appear without getting stuck at the MORE page prompt?

Actually, there is a way to add a dynamic map to a Group Details view. You must do two things to get this to work: 1. Name the map with the exact same name as the name of the group. 2. When you select the map for the Group Details view, make sure you also designate the $NAME variable for the Map Name Format: Hope this…

Thank you sir for your help. I tried this and seem to be getting some bogus results - but it could be that I am not reading the reports results correctly. For example, in the query related to alert actions, the report seems to indicate that the custom property, "City" is being used in an alert action, but the Property…

How does this program work in conjunction with the Windows service recovery actions? Does it compete with it? Do I need to set all my service recovery actions to "Take No Action"?
-
I would suggest that you use the Universal Device Poller tool to create a custom poller using the Avaya OID for that data.
-
Can you check that again? The file you referenced has nothing in it. It is 0 kb in size. Could it be located somewhere else?

I got this to work with a Cisco Catalyst 1900 switch. I realize it is a low end platform, but it does use the menu driven IOS. If you do a search in Thwack for Cisco 1900 you will find a message thread where someone has included a device template that you might try. Basically, the template had to have a line added to…

Is it too early to reveal at least a few details about this new Orion module?

If I may interject...... If you are wanting to be able to see the statistical value for the alerted component, you might try: Does that help?

Anyone at SolarWinds want to weigh in? Is this a known issue?

I was just checking a new installation of Orion 9.5 SP5 to see if this hack still worked. I placed a JPG logo file named "ReportHeader.jpg" in the C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion folder, but the report header logo remains the default SolarWinds logo. Has the location for this file changed in the current version?
-
This can be done. Find the JPEG that you want to use and save it as a file named ReportHeader.jpg. Store it in the following location: Program Files/Solarwinds/Orion. The image should be no larger than 150 pixels. You should now see that logo in the header for printed reports.

Ok, gotcha. I also see the same behavior with an account that does not have Admin privileges. I looked in the Core Administrator Guide and did not see any mention of this requirement.

Can you use the Inventory capability of Cirrus to re-acquire this data from your routers and switches?
