I did. Thanks. Talk to you then.

If you are still seeing nodes on a map that are restricted by an account limitation, then check the map itself in MapMaker. Specifically, open the map, right click in a blank area and select Map Properties. I am guessing that you will find that you have the Override Account Limitations for this Map set to "Allow all users…

Yes, that is important to remember. You can also import custom pollers just like you could with the CMP (including those in the Thwack content sharing zone)

My thought would be that two factors will determine what this setting needs to be. First, the specifics of your Orion server hardware setup. The more frequent alerts are posted, the more demands on I/O resources and the faster your database will grow. Can you handle that? Maybe maybe not. The second factor would be the…

Chris, do you have any additional thoughts on this?

All good advice, thanks. mharvey, it sounds like you may have experienced something very similar to what I ran into with NCM at v7.2.2 on my current server. When I tried to upgrade in place to version 7.3.2, I encountered DB configuration errors that have still not been solved. Hence, my idea of restoring the "pre-upgrade"…

Now that I think about it, the Manage Reports feature is also in version 10.6, so you could do what I described. I think it might actually be even easier since you need to combine node availability, interface utilization and node response time in the same report. Each of the three data types would be a separate content…

Pardon me for interjecting, but the ConnectNow feature will only work with nodes on maps - it is not related to Group functionality. In other words, if you place the groups on a map and try to incorporate connections using the ConnectNow faeture, that data is not available for groups. You must place the actual nodes on the…

One more vote here.

Yes, you could place a specific map on the view, but now that I look deeper at my suggestion I'm not sure that it will work the way you want. Let me keep working on it and I'll get back to you.

Actually, you can do this. Log in to the Orion web site. Generate a report, and append the fiollowing to the end of the URL: &dataformat=excel This will open the file in Excel as long as Excel is installed on the server. You can also open a report in Word. Just repolace the word Excel with Word.

Do your virtual servers not show up on the Views By Device Type page as VMWare ESX? I see my VMWare servers listed as a separate device type from Windows 2003, or 2008, etc servers.
-
You could also display the node list by SNMP version in System Manager. Thos that are ICMP only will display with a value of zero.

I have a feeling that byrona is correct, but on a hunch I opened the Database Manager and looked at the Event Type table and there are two fields that might be of interest. One is "Notify", the other is "Record". The Record box is checked for the "Interface Changed" event type, but the Notify box is not. What is the…

Yeah, like I said, the footer is not effected by this change, but others have asked about this before. As for the ability to merge reports, that cannot be done directly in Report Writer, unless you use the advanced SQL report type and do the work manually using appropriate join statements. Otherwise, you would have to…

Will I be replacing an existing "ReportHeader.jpg" file? If so, I cannot find a file by the that name in the Solarwinds/Orion folder.

Thank you very much.

I hope you don't mind me piggy backing on this thread, but if the idea is to exclude the hour between 2AM and 3AM, would it work to set the "from" time to 3:01am and the "to" time to 1:59AM? Would that successfully allow the alert to fire the other 23 hours of the day?
-
That is what the timer at the bottom of the Trigger Condition tab is for. Set it to the desired time interval. The alert will not fire until the condition has existed for that time period.

"The user link worked the best, but again I can't see anywhere to have a different link for each node." You must reference the IP address of the node in the link. Use the ${IP} variable so the link will go to the IP address in the database for the node.

You really do not need to use a custom SQL approach. If you open a new report of the type "Custom Status of Nodes, Volumes", you should find every variable you have mentioned, including the Site if you have already created it in the Custom Property Editor. After that, all you need do is add any filters or Group by options…

Thanks Rob. So, we will have to keep in mind that if we want to leverage the Auto-geolocate feature, we will have to poll via SNMP. Are there any plans to extend this capability to Agent or WMI polling using some other available field?
-
Try using Vendor equal to VMWare.
-
The polling and stats collection intervals can be adjusted on the Settings button in the toolbar of System Manager. Look on the Polling and Statistics tabs. These are global settings. Both of these intervals can also be set on any individual Node, Interface or Volume on the respective Details screen. Hope this helps.

What are those exceptions? I am trying to do something very similar and was having a little difficulty deciding how to make the component ever be green.
-
Well, unless I am off here, you should be able to see performance counters related to the Faxination application as well. Or are they not specific?
-
I failed to add that you will need to apply either the "Single Group" or the "Group of Groups" account limitation to the user account. That way when the user views the map on the Group Summary web page, it will not show any groups they are not allowed to see.

Ok, here goes: 1. Click on Manage Reports on the Main Settings and Administration page of the website: 2. Click Create New Report: 3. After getting past the "What's New with Web-based reports?" screen (if you still see that page), click on Custom Table as the Add Content method: 4. In the Add Content window, use Dynamic…
