Thanks for the write up.

I only see this growing more and more. Even on a personal level people are saving all of their data several clouds. Thanks for the write up.

The VAR was probably also using Messages per day . I just went through that same exercise. The network equipment was easy because I already had those logs split up and going to disk so the uncompressed size was a known. The server logs were another animal.

My work space at work has 65db of ambient noise from the HVAC system when everything is quiet. Then they installed white noise to make it quieter (which just added to the overall noise) With people yelling over the white noise the noise level is in the 80db range. Wish I could work from home.

We receive about half of our Cisco alerts via Syslog and the others are polled through NPM. Occasionally some network event will trigger an event storm so large that it would start to bury the NPM server's database. That's why we front ended it with Kiwi to do the filtering and then only forward on specific events.

Excellent post. I have always thought that being able to get along with the other kids playing in the sandbox about the first skill everyone needs. Sometimes this isn't always the case, even when the person may be a genius in their trade.

Cyber Attack Puts a Spotlight on Fragile Global Supply Chain Makes a good case for fully segmented networks.

Missed the last one , read the hint and watched the video but that's about the amount of time I can spare on a contest....

Got word back that Support is turning this in as a bug. Hopefully a fix will come out soon.

Thanks for the write up. I'm glad to see Solarwinds branching out into other products, especially when you can tie them all back together into one.

That is a great idea! Include the testing as one of the breakouts.

I would love to own this product. I used to use Ignite. If there was an unlimited license I would pursue looking at it but we have too many SQL databases for it to be $$$ feasible.

Thanks for the write up! Products like WPM and SAM can go a long way in measuring the response times of individual components such as a database as well as doing synthetic transactions against the web site to tell overall performance.

Thanks for the write up. I did a lot of data capture at my previous position and it was entirely unobtrusive. Using a combination of fiber splitters and fiber switches, copies of all data crossing the core backbone and WAN was routed onto a monitoring network that had a number of tools doing packet inspection. Everything…

I heard the word LPAR somewhere? Would that be reinventing the wheel? Just kidding!

Regardless of expectations your data is shared over and over again and eventually is exposed. Take for example, purchasing a home or vehicle. If you are not right on top of the 'opt out' policies (which no one ever is) the next thing you know you are getting mail from all of the companies 'affiliates'. In todays world…

Workplace politics. I previously worked at a company for 28 years. In that 28 years I never once ever heard mention a persons race or their political views. I changed jobs 2 years ago and its been a blessing and a curse. Because my white manager is married to a black woman he feels its ok to call everyone out about their…

Thanks for the write up! I have seen that going on for years and the auditors rarely ever go through the test environment to see what kind of data is stored there.

If you give that warm body with years of experience some decent tools they usually can do some amazing stuff I spent some considerable time writing out our syslog filter rules and creating dashboards for several message types with the end goal of auto creating tickets on only the very few messages that require…

I have not found Rotten Tomatoes to be very accurate. I usually give the films a much higher rating. Rotten Tomatoes Bans User Comments Before Films’ Release

Thanks! That did it

@ Radioteacher I fought the hard battle at my last employer trying to convince them that going all in with SCOM wasn't the best move and I finally gave up and left in frustration I do have SAM at my new place and it does a good job at what I'm using it for
