I started out early in my career as a hockey player that worked on telephones and I was shaped like a normal hockey player. Then as I got more into IT I was fed lots of free doughnuts and pizza and that is why I'm shaped like an IT pro today.

I want this yesterday Going to make some people at my organization very happy! I was asking for some of this additional functionality for the 'Groups' feature but this goes way above and beyond.

I normally fill out surveys but not one that asks what vulnerabilities your company has then asks for the name.

Thanks for the write up Leon! very good points made. One of my friends is a retired long haul trucker and I'm pretty sure he has every mile marker in the United States memorized. I could be talking about some place in the middle of Montana and he would say 'oh yea, at mile marker 338, I know that place'

A bit hard to find today.

Warning: free hotel wifi is a hacker’s dream As has been the case for years. At least use a VPN.

The act of dispensing prescription medicines of the right dosage and the right amounts into bottles and labeling them for a customer was long performed by Pharmacists. This is now being automated at large scale and the retailers are using Fedex next day -vs- their traditional supply chain to get them to the retail units. I…

Don't overlook all of the 'smaller disasters' that occur on a weekly basis that all of us work on to keep the ball rolling along. At my last job we called them Major Incidents and no matter what we did we couldn't get that number below 52 per year. Our annual bonuses were always based on '52' yet we would always take a hit…

I would love to see automated dependency mapping working.

I will have to admit I am a recovering archivist. I used to hoard every little piece of technology into my work area until one day my co workers sat me down for an intervention. The hardest thing to toss was my HP Ipaq, with the screen worn in only one place... where the solitaire deck sat. But I gave it all up and now can…

I'm going to leave behind a whole bunch of trained engineers Monitoring was the starting home for a lot of engineers where I worked. They usually would come out of the ranks of the Help Desk or NOC and get trained in monitoring for a couple years to get the big picture of a large IT environment then go on to be Server,…

I didn't see the correct answer but guessed and got it right

My previous employer was pretty good about allowing the IT staff to have old equipment once it was retired. One of my co-workers took home a rack, servers, storage and some switches/routers for their home lab. Problem was they left it running 24/7. Until they got their next power bill.

Not exactly sure of your question but if you are using SQL or SWQL queries have you tried adding two minus signs in your query such as -- Example: --Selects the first 10 nodes in the database and displays IP address and caption SELECT TOP 10 IPAddress, Caption --Selects data from this table FROM Orion.Nodes --Filters out…

Anyone other than me not get the memo that an additional database is needed when upgrading?

Back in the day all I could afford was a pair of waders and a cheap flyrod. I still have both of them. The waders have several patches of goop on them but still stay dry and the flyrod is still in service with the 1911 Fluger reel that one of my friend gave me 30 years ago. SInce that time I also was able to own a lot of…

I'm upgrading to 2019.4 tomorrow (for the third attempt) and trying to install Netflow on Thursday. If they fail again may be I'll try this version.

Haha! Depends on if it was a new account we installed or it it was one we took over. On new installs we labeled every cable, had prints, and key sheets. If it was a PBX or Electronic Key system there were paper copies of the programming kept on site. If it was a 1A2 key system we inherited then your cable toner and work…

Doesn't everyone leave their spare key there?

I enjoy the convenience of shopping with Amazon but I don't think I will be using any of these cameras.
