It's deer season here and I'm pretty sure opening day qualifies as a State Holiday in Michigan The residents here like to relax by going 'Up North' , just watch out you don't get hit by a deer! Oh deer! West Michigan hunter’s prank goes viral | Fox17

At my previous employer we had Netflow deployed everywhere and then very large packet sniffers on the network core and on all of the WAN links. A team that included Management, Security, Network Architects, Network Engineers met every other week to review the traffic trends, changes, and QOS usage for the previous two…

'Tracking every place you go': Weather Channel app accused of selling user dataI'm sure this is very widespread. With the majority of people always having phones on their person why is it the police can never find the person that did the hit and run, held up a bank, or broke into a home......? Is that data protected?

Almost all Oil Companies. I'm a consumer of a lot of these every time I fill up my tank so it's actually me (us) that create demand for the oil giants. It's me that need to get an electric vehicle.

So I made these a couple weekends ago. Bacon wrapped onion rings. I had to crisp them on the grill first till the bacon was almost done then I dipped them in Drakes batter and then deep fried them. Yummy! The idea was inspired from the BBQ Pit Boys on youtube. Those boys know how to cook!

The Wireshark Certified Network Analyst would also be another one I would add as a good certification to have. It doesn't have the recognition that some of the other certifications have but if I saw that on someone's resume I would instantly know that they were all out Geek!

I set ours up like this: Syslog source (Router/Switch/AP) ---> Kiwi Syslog Server ---> Orion NPM ----> Alerts Kiwi can pre-filter and send only the important ones to Orion NPM to make alerts on.

Great write up. Yes this has been around for awhile. Tech writers and marketing sit around and make this stuff up. Up to us to sour through the 'fluff'

I'm not seeing the question displayed today is it just my browser? … Never mind, it just took a long time to load.

Looks like I will still be on a VM but on a dedicated SQL server instead of on a shared SQL with many other non SolarWinds DB's running.
-
Thanks! that helps. Lets see if I get the question correct now.

No, didn't need to. My manager was with me and he was the one who opened the door and saw it first. I never asked but he normally pulls them off the list of allowed contractors and their badge gets deactivated.

A possible solution would be to block all internet access to/from the internet at your firewall and then the server will not be able to reach the Solarwinds site to start the upgrade.

Thanks for the write up I think people are starting to get it now. A few years ago they would scream and kick all the way when the new compliance and security rules started going in but after all the breaches that have happened they are more open to making it part of everyone's job and not thinking the 'Security…

A lot of our engineers started out in the the Help Desk or NOC. The ones that had the best communication skills, quick learners and the ones that would show some initiative like write programs, scripts, or processes to improve their existing job. Most of all the ones that got along with everyone and made you happy to work…
