Thanks for the write up. I always have to throw physical security out there also, need to keep those equipment rooms locked as well.

A company I worked for outsourced a lot of support work offshore. There was a substantial amount of training up front to get the contractors up to speed. A few months into it we found the turnover rate for the offshore team was quite significant.

Thanks for the write up. I still have Physical Security as a personal pet peeve. When you card into an equipment closet and a contractor is sitting in there eating his lunch with his laptop and drink sitting on top of one of the switches in the rack.....

I was pretty sure I had the correct answer, but not...

Here are some fishing terms for you: This is a JitterBug This is a BitterJug Both are used for fishing! Both end up in the lake eventually.

Metadata and machine learning has been in use for quite some time now. If you read the fine print when you connect to 'free' wifi you will sometimes see they are collecting virtually everything about you, your surfing habits, etc.

I might take my chances with a self flying vehicle over down on the ground on a freeway full of people using their cellphones while they drive.

Imagine if they went 100 percent online and then lost all the deeds they had recorded in the last few years.

Thanks for the write up! We use a lot of different automation tools depending on what we need to automate and what platform it is running on. Most of our automation is done to integrate system A with system B so they can pass information to each other.

I get the same thing whenever they change out cards/blades to a different type. I set up an admin page which is my home page when I log into Orion and built a view called 'Nodes with Problems' that shows these whenever I log in. Need to manually fix it, but at least I see them right away. There is also another view that…

Make sure your Disaster Recovery 'war room' has backup power, HVAC, and data equipment on ups/generator or it may be very uncomfortable, dark, and using a pen and paper..... I once toured an executive board room that they were planning DR for, but in a power outage they had no lights, hvac, network, etc...

Thanks for the write up. I don't see any of the SIEM products out there today as truly AI. Someone still needs to transform all of the data and write up the rules.

Amazon's facial recognition mistakenly labels 26 California lawmakers as criminals Not surprised. My Iphone's facial recognition doesn't unlock my phone 60% of the time either.

You probably won't get much feedback for let's say a webpage. People will use it and leave if they are happy. They probably won't leave you any feedback in most cases. In the case when a web site isn't functional I just move on to the next one and never go back to the one that failed. I think that's just human nature.

I would have to say one reason to go to the cloud is to wrestle your servers back from the Operations team where you could have complete control of them again. In my case just to get two lab servers reimaged from Windows 2012 to Windows 2016 I have been waiting for two months and filling out endless paperwork.

Nice job on the fire pit. Just add smores.

Stepping on a Lego is no joke! I fear stepping on these even more.

If my employer doesn't provide it I will still take it on my own dime. Eventually it will lead to a better, higher paying position either within the same company or at a new one.
