Wow 900 maps, someone spent a lot of time on that! Could you use a custom property that refers to the map name for the interface and include that in the alert? Interfaces is a choice for Custom Properties.

In physics, the observer effect is the theory that simply observing a situation or phenomenon necessarily changes that phenomenon. So by monitoring it, we change it!

I believe so as well

Just loaded up the latest version and it still suffers the same flaw as the previous version. It can only process and alert one event per minute per host. So for example if one of your UPS systems loses power and sends a syslog stating power is lost it will generate an alert for the first event. If the UPS sends a second,…

We have a 'guest' network for this. The biggest users of bandwidth are Facebook, Netflix, and Apple Updates in that order

A lot of companies would reimburse employees for partial use of their cellphones. While that was a thing a lot of people had their phones 'tethered' with corporate software. Once the reimbursements stopped a lot of people 'un-tethered' their phones and quit using them for checking work email etc. This had an unintended…

We just upgraded to 2020.2.1 and although there were some issues we ran across it was one of the easiest in years. What also helped was the issues we ran into Tech Support already had solutions for so were able to keep the upgrade on track and complete it within our change window.

We have alerts on critical doors, cameras, beam sensors, etc.. and EVERY event needs to trigger an alert. If two people scan through the same door into the data center right after one another both entries need to have separate alert events. Similarly if two different people pass by a camera in the data center within the…

At my old job we had an entire second backup (not test) instance of NPM that had two functions, monitor the primary Solarwinds system (and also several other tools) and function as a backup poller so we would still have some degree of monitoring in place during upgrades. It was a nice setup

Automation could replace up to 800 million jobs by 2035 It probably will but someone will still need to monitor and fix all of those robots

Several years ago we had one of our air handlers go out in our lights out data center. HVAC and Environmental monitoring was all shipped out to a vendor and somehow the alerts were not generated. We had Netbotz cameras which could have caught the temp but they were never set up for that. It was discovered when an engineer…

Much thanks to @wluther !!! Working great now! Just moved it over to the Node Details page as you suggested. This is a great help for our NOC They are processing several hundred messages a day and it is impossible to correlate events via programming due to the amount of machines they are monitoring, the resources available…

I would agree. Some actions such as 'create a ticket' need to be reviewed first by our NOC first. Otherwise a lot of alerts get sent out to peoples pagers for no reason. For example: Site loses power, The UPS's alerts the Facilities people, the router and switches alert the Network team, The servers alert the Server team,…

There are certifications the auditors must have to be able to sign off on an audit and there is a published set of standards. If the auditor is following the certification process I don't see how any one can be easier than the next? It's the company's compliance officers job to verify. The auditor is only supposed to make…
