Throw the ticket 'over the wall' and hope someone fixes it. No tickets are followed up on by any audit process.

I'm hoping this eventually gets worked on. Taking down monitoring for an extended period is a high risk change in our environment and requires a lot of paperwork and approvals each time we rotate the passwords.

Thanks for the write up.

The phone I ruined was an Iphone 5, but it was in an Otterbox IP68 rated case. It leaked snorkeling in 6 feet of water ruining the phone. I was in Jamaica and didn't have any way to back up my data so ... it was lost.

I'm going to have to second that. If you still need to print it, well maybe it's time you retire.

That's a tough one. A lot of times the addresses are using NAT and how do you easily map the internal to external address for your reports? If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them because I run into the time.

This is a great idea for the reasons you mentioned. Below is an example of how to create a widget window from scratch. If you want to create it on an existing page start at the Add a Resource part. This will display the NodeId, IP Address, Caption, Is Unmanaged, Starting and Ending time. From the main Orion screen.…

This reminds me when we had a 'lights out' secondary data center and the lights were literally out, the room was pitch black. The emergency shutoff switch was a large red push button inside the door on the right hand side. The lights were on the left hand side. When you walked into the room it was completely dark. I…

If tomorrow is a survey (and I don't forget) I'm going to be all green this month :)

We were just doing cost analysis for our existing system. Creating a calculator that will determine the cost per 1gb log ingestion per day, having it 'hot' searchable for 90 days, frozen 91 days - 365 days (1 year total). Then cost per 1gb frozen per year going forward. Almost done

You are referring to text files, not the Windows Event Log correct?

All of that food looks delicious!

Thanks for the write up.

Thanks for the write up! I'm not really afraid that I would script myself out of a job, someone needs to write and care for the scripts. Someone that takes advantage of this is going to be a higher performer in the end than another engineer that does everything manually.

I read the Certified Ethical Hacker book because a friend gave it to me. It was ok, I probably won't take the test though. I'm reading the CISSP book right now. I will be taking that test in November. @ d09h, wording does get to be a funny thing on some of the certification tests. Also sometimes I could make a pretty good…

Thanks for the write up. I'm pretty sure my next vehicle will be an all electric one.

..... and the reason the DB server is slow is because of Storage. Don't forget to mention that as well.

Thanks for the write up. For me, I will probably choose to remain an engineer. After years of being in Architectural / Engineering rolls I'm ready again to get back into the field and be more active than my desk job allows.

Like telling someone from Canada or Mexico you are an American and they reply 'so am I'.
