  • Depends on your use case. If you want to monitor and process logs, use SEM (LEM). If you want to watch for changes to configuration files (or registry, or the output of scripts), use SCM. The Windows FIM drive allows both products to know when a file has changed in real time, and SCM also picks up who made the change to…
  • Thanks, we will. Brian
  • Looking at a couple of sources, the best definition I found was "The approximate utilization percentage for a particular component over a particular time interval.". Let me know what array you are collecting data for, and I may be able to get more specific.
  • Check out the SEM 2020.2 Release Candidate blog post for more information on the new nDepth.
  • Check out SCM 1.1 RC is now available in the customer portal
  • You can now add features and vote for them. Isilon is on the voting list, so please vote for it. http://thwack.solarwinds.com/community/storage_tht/storage-manager/storage-manager-feature-requests Brian
  • SEM is almost all HTML5 now, what do you still use in the Flash console? Make sure you check out SEM 2020.4 Release Candidate.

  • Not a 100% sure what you are asking... you should be able to change the user to a domain user with no issue. If permissions or the password of the user are changed, STM generally stops collecting data and you will see a permissions or connectivity error message in the log. Brian
  • Note that Alert Central is now EOL but have options with OpsGenie, see this post for more information. So Long, and Thanks for All the Alerts
  • Thanks - let us know if you have any issues.
  • Hi When you install an agent, it asks for the Profiler server IP address. When you start the agent service, it sends a trap to the Profiler and says "I am here, what am I suppose to be doing?". If the trap makes it to the Profiler server, it should configure the agent in the database and push a configuration to the agent.…
  • Storage Manager supports arrays from HP (EVA, XP and Lefthand) but it does not support MSA at this time (but it is on the roadmap). Brian
  • Note - if you have virtualization manager, you can do search for multi-datastore VM using the filter: vm.datastoreCount:[2 TO *] Brian
  • Gavin. Seems like the username/password being used to talk to the clarion aren’t valid but that is just a guess. Try to log into the Unisphere gui using the username/password they are using to discover the clarions via the provider and see if that works. The username/passwords must be admin level and global scope. If that…
  • Hi Hopefully you caught my post on the new Storage Manager feature set. Please let me know if you have any more questions. Brian
  • Here is a screenshot:
  • Is that for every query, or just the one?
  • Jeff, Chris The "Integration Virtual Infrastructure Manager" (IVIM)is integrated into Orion for NPM and SAM. It gives some status data of your VMs, Hosts, and the organization of your virtual infrastructure. Virtualization Manager (VMan) is a VM appliance that you install separately and takes a much deeper dive into the…
  • Hi, Thanks for the picts. I am going to do a little more research, but a few questions: 1) Is there a failover that occurred recently, where these drives have been pulled into service? 2) Have you put in new drives for failed ones, and are migrating data back from the spare to those drives? 3) How long has this been the…
  • Hi, If you have upgraded to STM 5.1, you can drill down on the Database or Logs LUN Target View and see what VM are driving load (if present) and see if other LUNs on the same Volume Group are loading up the disks. It should tell you if you if the LUN is overloaded or if the Volume Group is overloaded. Brian
  • Hi, This looks like a bug, in general it should display information about the instance that met the threshold criteria. Please open a ticket. Many users are forwarding traps to Orion to handle them, but I completely understand wanting to do it natively. Aside: We plan to improve alerting in the future, but I do welcome…
  • One additional thing - you have to clear the traps once you have fixed the issue or the next time it happens you will not get notified. You have two options: * Clear the trap from the event monitor manually. * Set up the auto clearing of traps by going to Settings > Server Setup > Server and setting these two frequencies:…
  • Check out DPA 2019.4 RC - Custom Alerts, Best Practices, Azure SQL Managed Instance and more! for customizable alert emails. These could help feeding information to other platforms via email.
  • Not supported, it is on our roadmap but no timetable for delivery. Brian

  • DPA 10.2 included a feature to find the source of an idle blocker, see this post for an example DPA 10.2 Now Available - Root Blockers, Idle Blockers and Deadlocks
  • Glad to help, and don't hesitate to ask more questions. Let us know how it turns out too.
  • One additional clarification: For the Orion integration, each DPA server must be added Orion, it does not operate via DPA Central.

  • Definitely not expected behavior - did you file a ticket with Support already? What version did you upgrade from?
  • You will still be able to login, see the data already collected, and apply a new license. No new data will be collected. If you apply a new license (extended eval or purchased), your configuration and history or retained, and collection will begin again.
