It doesn't seem to work, the endpoint connectors to individual pcs seem to be out of date and the connection to the console doesn't work at all.

This would also be good for after hours reporting, as of right now if you wanted to receive notifications to an external server only when you are out of the office (like pagerduty or alertcentral) currently an entire rule is required to be setup, whereas you could set a specific time to send an email rather than cloning an…

Oh interesting, I didn't know that was possible. its nice to know, but it would be easier to include this into 1 rule rather than having to setup multiple rules, but at least its something.
-
This would be excellent, but it would have to have a decent engine backing it to analyze and determine what is and isn't a problem and something like that added to the already alarming complex lem software would, I imagine, be an extremely daunting task.

I contacted an agent about the issue, but no one ever got back to me about it. I have been using the remote agent on multiple machines and I have not had any similar issues with disconnecting. The only thing we could think of was specific user context as when I was logged in it was not as an admin, but when we pushed the…

I see, well ill have to experiment, this at least lets me restart windows services and things like anti viruses so this is what I needed as a bare minimum. Thanks so much for your help!

I don't know which server I connected to yesterday but I tried it again today and it did the same thing A:F
-
We finally figured this out, it appears to be a problem with the local agent installer vs the remote installer. when we use the remote installer the disconnections do not occur.
-
I just went back and re-read your post, I thought you meant you were seeing the log files in ndepth view on the lem console. I see now that you just meant a log file, your right there wont be any way to setup rules unless you can view the files within lem console itself. unfortunately it looks like you stuck unless a…

Its like due to the fact that in 5.6 the database was changed from a 3rd party tool to a proprietary one. My guess is that since its a brand new feature in a new release that this is an unexpected bug that didnt crop up in testing.
-
Did you use the local or the remote installer? I had a huge issue when I first started using lem with the local installer, it seems to be incredibly unstable and constantly drops and loses connection, my log looked exactly like yours constantly. what I would recommend doing if you haven't already is using the remote…

I've been tinkering with this for the last few days and I haven't come across an answer yet. Anyone have this happening?
-
On a theory I rebooted the server, and it seems to be able to update the rule I was having trouble with. strange behavior. Would still love an explanation as to why the rule wouldn't update.
-
Your absolutely correct, I tried it again with wuauserv and it restarted flawlessly. So is their any way to restart or start un-registered services?
-
Well the problem there is I want to avoid setting up a blanket allow for the individual webpage for security reasons. but the link you provided looks like there suggesting I contact Sophos and ask them to setup some kind of testing to get it added to the program, so I will give that a shot. in case they cant does anyone…

It just sits on the connecting to demo screen for me and doesn't do anything. IE10

If you found the answer you should mark this as assumed answered, that way it doesn't show as a open question.

This is solved, sort of. I can now get rules to execute properly, what seems to be the issues now is that whenever I logoff (without shutting down) and log back in, the lem agent software stops talking back to the host. I tried the steps outlined by solarwinds to stop the process, delete the spop file then restart, but the…

Well this is solved, sort of. I tried cloning the rule but that did not work. I wrote a whole new rule with all the same details and that allowed me to save the changes, but having to write a new rule simply because LEM wont save the changes is not desirable in any way. Anyone have any ideas what could cause this?
-
There doesn't appear to be a connector for hp firewalls as of yet. you can setup rule alerting since you can receive the logs, but if you want a connector your best bet would be to submit a feature request through these forums, but theres no guarantee if/when solarwinds will get to it.

I found an answer to this, our firewall was blocking outgoing email from the distribution group the mail was being sent from. We just simply allowed the traffic and the messages now go out and the message is not showing up. If you have your mail coming from a ad distribution group I would check your firewall settings.

Were you able to get this figured out? im having the same problem too, and I cant find anything in the logs to know why

When you initially setup the agent it defaults the connector to windows 2000/xp security instead of vista/7 security. what you want to do is go to manage, then select nodes, then for each machine remove the 2000/xp security connector and change it to vista/7 security plugin. you could also automate this by building a…
